I wish we don't have to see that type of gameplay in the biggest football competition. Simeone's system is absolutely disgusting. People mock him for playing ten defensive player, his name is written in bus driver memes. Atletico finished the game without even shooting the ball. That's funny especially when you have Griezmann, Correa and Felix in your team.
I'm glad Pep beat Simeone after perfect substitutions. Foden changed the game with that assist. What did Simeone think when he says Pep is lucky to manage the best clubs? He's a top class manager and these type of managers coach top class clubs.
Manchester city has won Athletico Madrid 1 goal to Neil in the first leg of the quarter finals. The game was full of goals attempts by City. It was really a must win for city in this first leg, because who knows when city would travel to Wanda Metropolitano stadium, what will be the outcome performance of Athletico Madrid. The game was full of expectations and actions. City played their opponents, Athletico Madrid without any form of anxiety. Kelvin Debruyne delivered city after countless attempts made by him, with his stunning freekick in the 54th minutes which Jan Oblak saved. Later Riyah Mahrez was substituted in the 68th minutes of the game, Pep brought in Phil Foden, sooner than later, in the 70th minutes Foden gave an assist to Debruyne to goal scoring. One big thing Athletico boss, Diego Simeon was preventing was a goal against them in the first leg, they needed a draw in the game but it turns out that City turnover the game into their favorite interests, Pep beat Simeon in his own game.

Manchester City - Atlético - 1:0
Benfica - Liverpool - 1:3
Everything is finished here. Liverpool won convincingly away and I think there will be an even more convincing victory at home.
the England (Manchester City and Liverpool) club won tonight giving the hope to bring glory to all fans, we can wait for Chelsea to create the same Achievement so that it happens all England Final. I admit Alisson Becker is a player who makes it impossible for Benfica to set a counter goal, He saves the goalpost several time from Benfica attackers. even, Luis Diaz's skill of breaking Benfica's defense is more messed up. I believe it's difficult to Liverpool to get the winning in leg 2 because they play as host.
England team always dominance on UEFA Champion League every year and on quarter final they have three team from Manchester City, Liverpool both team success win on 1st leg and Chelsea will against with Real Madrid tonight. I think have chance with England final team on UEFA Champion League because drawing on semi final have hold on before. Liverpool looks easy on 2nd leg against with Benfica after winning 1-3 and still not guarantee with Manchester City because lead 1-0 from Atletico Madrid is not enough when away there, but have good capital after winning on 1st leg and need draw at 2nd leg enough for Manchester City lead to semi final.

Unsatisfactory results in my opinion for Manchester City. Because their opponents Atletico Madrid did not make their goal threatened. I said that Atletico Madrid's defense was doing well even though in the end they had to concede too.
Seeing this match, I speculated that Atletico Madrid would really lose this match.

Atletico had put up a decent wall today, it's great that they kept City from scoring for so long. They did have some opportunities on the counter, but City were of course better throughout the game. We would like to see attacking football from City, but Atletico used to be a master at organizing their team defensively. Have also reached the Champions League final a few times. Everything is still possible when Atletico can play at home.
City only had one chance, and that was immediately a goal.
It was a really tiring day for Atletico Madrid, they played just to defend. But it was quite a success in my opinion, despite conceding one goal. But they can't play like that again in the 2nd leg, if they again apply the same strategy it means they give away tickets to the semi-finals to Manchester City. It can be seen how the statistics in this match, Manchester City excel in everything.

As expected, Manchester City were able to win the match even though they only scored one goal. De Bruyne scored just in time, if they didn't get a few more minutes, the players would come under great pressure and the chances of making a mistake would increase. Atlético tried hard not to concede a goal but failed.
In the other match, Liverpool won the match, we did not see any surprises. Everyone's guess was that Liverpool would win Smiley
They were able to get the win but the fact that it was only by a single score means that Atletico can still play their style and hope to tie the score during the next game, Manchester City needs at least an additional score to force Atletico to abandon their style of play and to attack them more openly, if Manchester City can achieve this then they will have huge chances to move to the next round, as I do not see Atletico coming back from a deficit of 2 or more scores against them.

Diego Simeone's defensive play has become a hallmark for Atletico Madrid when facing big teams in the Champions League, such as during the match against Manchester City this morning where the citizens had to wait until the 70th minute before breaking the deadlock through Raheem Sterling. has received an assist from Phil Foden.this is a good capital for Manchester city when they travel to the Wanda metropolitano next week, of course Atletico Madrid will be more favored because they play at home even though they have to lose in the first leg against host Manchester city

The horribly boring game style of ATM could work for other teams, but City is just way too good. To be honest its better to watch them since they are providing some sort of fun for all of us to watch, whereas ATM doesn't provide any fun at all and make absolutely no sense at all. All in all I would guess that it would be a bit more entertaining to see City in semi finals instead. Liverpool ended the game the way we assumed, I have to say that could have been a penalty when I saw Virgil semi-holding the Benfica player, but it wasn't given and I am not ref so I can't say clearly what the rule says but I also wouldn't be shocked if he gave penalty there neither.

Manchester City - Atlético - 1:0
The match went as expected. I can assume that City are dissatisfied with the result, since the advantage is minimal, and Atlético can bounce back at home.
Leading with 1 goal isn't a bad result, it is very helpful before Leg 2. I don't think Man City is unsatisfied with this result, at least they have 1 goal and no conceded goal at home.

By the way, if we look at the stats of both teams in Leg 1, I am optimistic that Man City must win the next match. They are very superior, they even make Atletico Madrid has no chance to score. I'm very surprised seeing the stats that Atletico has 0 (Zero) shot attempts and only has 29% ball possessions. Man City makes Atletico be like a small team in UCL. I don't know what Atletico did during the match, I suspected they only stay in their own zone and never try to build any attacks.

Source: Google

According to stats, I doubt if Atletico Madrid can bounce back.  Undecided

Manchester City is a good winner even though it can only make 1 goal, because Atletico can't be provoked more to come out, like what I said before Atletico have a strong and solid on defense. I already predicted that Manchester City would win because gradually Guardiola would be able to break Simeone strategy, but what I was more surprised about was that Simeone really wanted to have a slight difference in goals by pressing the back line.
I don't know what Simeone thought in that match with his defensive strategy throughout the match, it looked boring and not interesting at all. There was not a single dangerous attack by the Atletico Madrid players because they were too busy defending in their area. For the second leg I believe Manchester City can dominate like the first leg and I think they will qualify for the semifinals.
after Man City scored a new goal Atletico played more openly and tried to attack, but Man City defended their position well. Entering the final 10 minutes, Diego Simeone's team had yet to find a chance in the home team's defense. No additional goals. The referee blows the long whistle. Score 1-0 to win Man City.
We'll wait in the second leg hopefully Atletico play attacking from the start.

It was a good night for Manchester City I think. Atletico Madrid did their best here to defend them I believe. Things wouldn't have been better than this for Atletico Madrid here. Because it was obvious that Manchester City were going to dominate this match. Atletico Madrid had to do the thing they do the best. And it was defending. They had some chances to score too actually but couldn't benefit from them. Especially Llorente's opportunity was crucial but his shot was weak. Manchester City got a 1-0 win and it is quite advantageous I believe.

City in a very awkward position ahead of the match on April 10th and Liverpool got another small advantage.
Although Manchester City's score tally was not as expected, I was expecting more goals in the match, but Atlatico Madrid was good in defending their home.
Liverpool finished the match from the first leg, and I don't think Benfica has a chance of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League semifinals, because Liverpool are in great form and can do even better in the second leg.
Yeah it was a good win for Liverpool, there pattern of play is remarkable and their outstanding performance this season worth the win. The anfield players delivers as we all expected, it was a good win from them, there performance this season is spectacular both in the league and the champions league, there win in the first half give them and edge and confident over Benfica. With the first leg play I think they are the favorite team to qualify for the semi final.

Two things to say.

First, greatly surprised by the game has played Benfica, i think in the previous of the match Liverpool gonna roll out Benfica, but was a no easy match for Liverpool.

Second,  good result for Atletico, City have to take a lot of care in the comeback game, its only one goal of difference, and seems like City cant do so much damage to the Atletico defense. Lets see with spaces but really good result for the Simeone boys.

I'm not surprised at all with his strategy as it is his type when he has to play against a bigger than his team. He knows how great Manchester City are and he knows how to minimize losing with too many goals or at least to get a draw. That's why he used a very defensive strategy. The 2nd league might be a bit different and he may change the strategy as they are losing with 1 goal only and they may force themselves in the 2nd to be as offensive as possible in front of their own fans.

I can understand why Atletico are play defending, because they know the opponent they are facing is Man City, who have good quality players.
So if Atletico play attacking against Man City there is a possibility that Atletico will concede a lot of goals, but that doesn't mean Atletico have
to use a parking bus strategy, because it's also very important if Atletico can score goals. What Atletico did when facing Man City tended not
to think about attacks at all. So it's no wonder the statistics show no kicks by Atletico players, finally Atletico's strategy to get a draw failed.
Therefore, in the second meeting, it is likely that Atletico will not play using the parking bus strategy again. If the match in the second leg
when the first half ends in a draw or Man City is ahead, inevitably Atletico will play attacking. My prediction is that the match in the second leg
will be much more interesting.

Big loss for me  Cry
ATM was supposed to loss but they didn’t have any influence on the field. Man City had the whole control. I had a 2 mBTC bet on ATM just because the odd was high LOL. I have always planned to avoid bets on odd but I can't control myself when I see them LOL.
