I personally feel that the home advantage should help Manchester United win this match, but Ralf will need to get his tactics right for the game. Furthermore I wouldn’t be surprised if he dropped Ronaldo for this match, and yes he’ll be heavily criticised for it, but I feel that he should take this
gamble as it’s clear that he’s not happy with Ronaldo’s performances.
Lately Old Trafford has been anything but a fortress, and teams are no longer afraid to face Manchester United on their home turf, they have dropped numerous points at home this season, so i am afraid, being at home could count for nothing in this game. I have noticed Ronaldo has been taking some stick lately, but i do not think he is the only one underperforming, there are a couple of other players that are not at their best, but the thing with Ronaldo is that it is difficult to bench him, and that seems to be the problem the manager is having at the moment, if the manager is not happy with any player, he should be given the liberty to bench such person, even it is Ronaldo as he is not bigger than the team, no one is.
What you say is quite reasonable, if we look at this season, there have been quite a few matches at home where Man United failed to win.
So facing Atletico in the second leg of Man United is not necessarily a win, so don't be too happy for Man United supporters that the second leg
will be played at Old Trafford. Man United must improve their weaknesses, which between Man United players do not have good cooperation.
I often see Man United players being too selfish and relying too much on individual skills. Then the other thing is that several senior Man United
players have experienced declining performances and Rangnick must have the courage to rotate players. Don't because of the big name Ronaldo has,
it makes Rangnick not dare to rotate on the front lines. Team interests are much more important, Rangnick must show courage as a leader.
If he can't do that, Rangnick will have a hard time making Man United's performance improve.
