Cristiano Ronaldo tests positive for COVID 19 again and will miss the game vs Barcelona next week. 🙃
So CR7  going to miss 2nd consecutive  ucl match this season.

I think it qas almost confirmed few days ago that Cristiano will miss the match against Barcelona. It's not breaking news anymore (or I missed). It's sad that we will not see Messi vs CR7, it would certainly be a good one if he was there.

To me this is the real group of death. Liverpool no need to say, current champions of world club football. Ajax who reminded everyone what good football can look like two seasons ago. Atalanta with possibly the best attack in Europe now.

All the other big teams are fancy but a bit boring, even my own Barca Smiley

Group D is definitely one of the group to watch out for. It's an interesting group even though it doesn't have some of Europe's big names except for Liverpool. One thing I know for sure is that, Liverpool might qualify easily. Then it will be up to either Ajax or Atalanta to decide who drops and who progresses to the next stage. Midtjylland is just unfortunate to be in this group. I don't know who would gift them points  Tongue

Also don't worry, Barcelona would qualify too. They already have a good headstart thanks to the 5-1 win against    ferencvarous.

Cristiano Ronaldo should still be positive at Covid so theoretically he should not be able to play with Barcelona in the very first challenge for the Champions League but there is still hope according to those of Tuttosport.

According to them, UEFA's protocol in the event of COVID 19 does not explicitly require a double negative swab, the first seven days before the match, and the second on the day of the match, but they talk about medical records.
So if the player is physically well, he trains (alone) and has no symptoms obviously, he should has the possibility to play if the viral load is subsequently negatized.

This is only an indiscretion so don't take it as the truth.

And that's a wrap for the Champions league games this week. All games went as I expected except for Liverpool's game. I expected more goals in the game. I also anticipated Bayern would win comfortably against Atletico Madrid but 4-0 is a little too much  Tongue.  As for Real Madrid, they need to get their A-game back on unless they want to exist the tournament early.

I'm also glad my team (Liverpool) got the away win against Ajax. Not an impressive one but enough to put us on top of group D table just before Atalanta.

The defeat of Real Madrid is the last trophy of their old squad. Ramos, Marcelo, Modric, Benzama, they have been in their downhill sides and from their forms in a few matches this season in La Liga and in Champions League, the Blancos' board can prepare for a season without a single trophy.

Last season, the trophy in La Liga makes people thought that the squad still be strongth to fight for trophy like what happened in Barcelona when they won their last Champions League. Now a few seasons later, Barcelona officially show their troubles and can not be fixed in a matter of season. Real Madrid are facing same problems.

I have to shake my head at all of these thoughts. City wins many cups and sweeps the league, one season later people are saying they are shit,,, Barca win Champions League and next season fail people say they are shit. Real won the league last season and now people say they are shit. Liverpool won last season and now they are shit.

Spurs, my own team. Reach finals one season and next we get Poch fired. The world is crazy.

yeah, but these are not fans, i do not actually believe that real sport fan can vouch for Real, Barca, PSG, that i why i am fan of Everton, and they are always good for me, this season they are simply great, and if they fail next season and fight for relegation, i would not call them shit, anyway
people that are calling Liverpool squad shitty this season, are not football lowers, or fans, they simply just want to be a part of LFC hype last two seasons

real fans have a feeling for that, and that is why Everton opened second fan shop in Liverpool One shopping center, which address is "Everton two, Liverpool one" Smiley

The football world nowadays is always about money and finance games from bosses to players. There is no place for patience and long plans. Klopp has his time to build up his team and won 2 big trophies: champions League and then Premier League but now it is not only their current problems but it is also about the average ages of their squad. I don't think Liverpool can be able to remain as the strongest team in the Premier Leauge more than next 2 or 3 years.

Their key players will get older, and lost their best forms while opponents will figure out methods to restrict Gegen-pressing of Klopp.

~ I'm taking my chances on Chelsea vs. Sevilla draw and another at both team not scoring as back up. I don't know if this is still true today but matches between PL and La Liga teams are usually tight and low scoring games.
Sweet! I guess it's still true today.

I should have placed another bet on MU for a triple luck  Grin

I see some opinions on Bayern Munich vs. Atletico Madrid but what are your thoughts on Man City vs. Porto? City coming off as heavy favorites on this one. I'm thinking of another draw in either or both games.
I cannot think and i guess never placed a bet for draw , dont know for what reason , the odds always too high to bet on it , that is the way i see it, weirdo? Maybe.
Congrats for the double winning you have .
How about last night matches? Is it as good as these two? I hope so.

This is my post analysis on Bayern vs atletico last night, despite the great defensive of atletico is the hardest thing to go through it looks nothing for bayern with the final score like that.

@cryptofrka when I see such a performance by Real Madrid I can’t help but wonder, what would have happened had Zidane given James the chance to shine at Real Madrid?, maybe he could have been the difference in yesterday’s game?. Also Bayern has shown their strength by scoring 4 goals against Atletico, and further they have continued their winning form of last season too, as they have now extended their winning streak to 12 consecutive champion league games.

Well, I love James and am happy he started great at Everton, but Real really has a lot of options in his position and when he did play, it was not that great.
I think what happened to Real yesterday could not have been avoided by changing 1 player - it is a structural thing. They lacked balance and coordination, their team that played Shakhtar was full of stars but it was clear to see it is a team without structure.

They will probably win a lot of games based on their talent alone, but that team does not have a tactical outlook of former/current great teams. It's just a bunch of really good players put together in a single locker room.

I think that a lot of people have lost money and some even big money on Real Madrid yesterday. What should have been like an easy secure home win precipitated real bad in the last 15 minutes of the first half by Shakhtar scoring 3 goals in such time.Real tried to fight back in the second half but they were not able to at least equalize.

Wow, what an embarrassment for Real Madrid last night. I'm glad that the last goal was disallowed, Shakhtar really deserved to win the game. They had multiple chances to end the game earlier.
A really lovely Modrić goal though.

I did not expect such a dominant Bayern performance against Atletico, they don't usually concede goals so easily - but looks as if Bayern is continuing where they stopped last year. Other than that, no real surprises yesterday.

Winger Kingsley Coman scored twice and set up another goal as holders Bayern Munich crushed Atletico Madrid 4-0 in the Champions League Group A opener on Wednesday to stretch their winning run in the competition to 12 games.

Well yeah it is and the only team that might be able to stand on the same ground as Bayern Munich are probably Juventus and PSG.

Should we expect for the underdog to win Champions League this season ? I always hope so every year tho.

To be honest, Im not really keen with the idea of an underdog team actually ended up winning the Champions League. I would love to see that in League but not in Champions League. Imagine how sad would it be to see an underdog team ended up beating the top representative of all other major league.

Some people would love it but its not my taste though

At the end they even bring Huntelaar (37) but too bad he couldn't do anything in the last minutes.

I'm not saying a team like lokomotiv moscow , midtjylland or ferencvaros as underdogs to win Champions League though that's more than a mission impossible, I'm referring an underdog like ajax which they proven capable reach the final few years ago or fc porto who have successfully won it with mourinho even yeah it's long time ago. The odds for a team like this still huge , the last time i checked it was :

Ajax 90++
Porto 100++
Marseille 100++

That's what I'm saying  Cheesy

Last season Bayern Munich won 6 out 6 matches in group stage, scored 24 goals and only 5 conceded. On the knockout phase, they beat Chelsea with agreegate of 7-2 after that they trampled Barcelona 8-2 and Lyon 3-0 . Given their previous record last season, I wouldnt be surprised if they beat the shit out of all other Club

If they could trampled Barcelona like some tier two team, they could beat any other Club out there and yeah so Im not really surprised to see Athletico Madrid ended up losing horribly today
3-0 , 4-0 it seems it was a normal margin winning for bayern munich.

Well yeah it is and the only team that might be able to stand on the same ground as Bayern Munich are probably Juventus and PSG.

It's gonna be that way for sometime until Barcelona pulls off something incredible to fog that a bit. I recall some memes like

Duren 0-3 Bayern
Barca 2-8 Bayern

Duren> Barca   Cheesy  Cheesy Cheesy

yeah, Atletico did not seem good last night, but it was a goal in the first half that was decided the match in this manner, Atletico could be back with a early goal in the second half, but without it, everything finished miserably for them, Bayern seem strong and powerful to re-gain crown in Champions league, but it is still early on
just remembering that they won in London 2:7 in last year group stage, and it is not rare for them to score 5,6,7 goals, so Atletico was done good last night Smiley

I'm also glad my team (Liverpool) got the away win against Ajax. Not an impressive one but enough to put us on top of group D table just before Atalanta.

Liverpool was lucky that Ajax scored an own goal. Ajax had the best chances in the match but the luck wasn't on their side.

I lost my parole due to the Liverpool game.
I was expecting to see more goals in the game and mostly both teams to score in the both halfs. Unluckily Liverpool was dominant in the first half and they didn't give any space to Ajax to express any attacks. An early goal from Liverpool was crucial in order to control the pace and the whole game as a result.

I was very busy these days and I see there is many surprises in CL, Lazio winning vs Dortmund? Lazio dropped in performance badly since the last season restart... and how ManU managed to win vs PSG! and obviously no comments about Real Madrid...they will face hard times and Zidane will have to find a solution to this!

I still recall someone said an year ago that there are lot of surprises in group stages of CL (think it was tokeweed) but yeah since then have been staying away mostly from group stages match.
