Fiorentina will give their best to actually lift that trophy this year and it would be about time for the Florence zone to win such a prestige competition because the passion from their fans will give them a huge advantage in 2nd leg against Brugge.

I also have confidence in Olympiakos to make a great result on home ground where the fans and the atmosphere will have a huge impact on Villa game and it's for sure that Olympiakos will score.

I never understood that, a lot of teams do not care about it, some smaller teams from smaller nations do care about it because that's all they can win, so they do care, but teams from bigger leagues look at the rewards I suppose and just don't care about it at all, which doesn't make sense to me.

It is just another cup, why not just get it if you can. If Villa cared enough about this, they would have another cup, which isn't bad, in fact they have no cups this season, not like they could ever win the premier league anyway, and not like they got FA cup, so they are going to end the season cupless if they do not win this. And yet, they still do not care about it, which makes no sense to me. Win something useless instead of not winning anything.
I don't think if Aston Villa will waste the opportunity to get the championship trophy after they are close to the trophy, Aston Villa have so far been able to continue their journey to reach the semi-finals so we can't say if they don't want the trophy just because the third level trophy of the current European competition, the Conference League is a new league presented by UEFA to provide opportunities for small teams in the world. Europe can compete in Europe at the moment, we know that so far the Champions League and also the Europa League is not an easy league for small teams to play so far, so I think the Conference League remains a strong attraction for Aston Villa because indeed right now only two teams have won it namely Roma and Westham.

Aston Villa defeat against Olympiacos was not because they were not serious, and I think we can also same assume  like  Liverpool lost to Atlanta in the Europa League, does that also mean Liverpool are not serious?, but sometimes we will see surprises that occur in every European competition match so far, although currently Aston Villa lost 2-4 on aggregate to Olympiacos does not mean they have been eliminated from the championship competition,  because surely in the second leg maybe they will rise to be able to beat Olympiakos.

The Conference League is not the most prestigious tournament, it seems that the attitude of teams like Aston Villa is not very serious about them. I cannot otherwise explain such a defeat at home, and if Olympiacos is so strong that it was able to beat Aston Villa and was able to score 4 goals against them, then in a home match I don’t know what could stop them from maintaining this advantage.

Perhaps Aston Villa themselves are to blame for this defeat, since conceding 4 goals from just 5 shots on target is too much. It's strange, Aston Villa beat Ajax and Lille to end up like this in the semi-finals.

Your point is valid but still this is high level cup and every team needs to give his best for this with I am also having feeling with now most chances Aston Villa is heading for the Champions League in next season so they were overconfidence and also underestimating Olympiacos so they faced this humiliating defeat now they are mostly out of the cup because they need to win by 3 goals difference in next leg game which is surely not easy task for them in these circumstances even this all is part of the game and any team can lost against any team with match day performance is most important for the win.

As mentioned any team can lost the game while they are having bad day, so same happen to Aston Villa while they were hosting Olympiacos which is now going to play second leg game at home and Greece could be not easy for the Aston Villa to have big won.

I mean, isn't that the beauty of a football game? No team is guaranteed to win and anything can happen due to various factors, from a terrible referee to some unlucky situations that occurred in a short amount of time. On top of that, it is hard to see the mental part of the game which affects how well a team plays in a cup competition or knock-out stage like this. It is disappointing for Villa fans, but that's how the game works. You could say the same thing when they win next time against a strong opponent, so that's that.

The Conference League is a league that is in the third level of Europe currently below the Champions League and also the Europa League, for teams like Manchester City, Madrid and maybe Munich of course the league is not prestigious at all, but for Aston Villa? I think you're wrong to say they didn't make the Conference League favourites, I don't know what your reason is to say that Aston Villa didn't take the Conference League seriously this season?
Because as far as I know Aston Villa is a Premier League mediocre team that is able to surprise this season and even an extraordinary achievement for Aston Villa is able to reach the semi-finals of the Conference League this season, so when you say they don't need a Conference League trophy, of course you are wrong because the Conference League is Aston Villa only hope of winning the championship trophy.

Aston Villa performance throughout the season has been good enough that they can beat Ajax and Lille in the Europa League this season, so it is quite surprising if we see them lose by a big score to Olympiacos in the first leg, but I think with Unai Emery experience and also the quality of the squad that Aston Villa has at the moment of course their can turn things around in the second leg later even though it might be a little difficult.
Aston Villa still looks seriously at the Confederation League, where this trophy is the only hope they have left at the moment, so rather than ending the season empty handed it would of course be better to win a trophy even though it is less prestigious. But now Aston Villa is experiencing difficulties, we never thought that Unai Emery fleet would fall at the hands of Olympiakos in the first leg.

Expectations for Aston Villa have increased after they were able to perform consistently in the Premier League, where up to now they have been able to maintain their position in the top four of the standings. Therefore, it is very natural that most people assume that Unai Emery fleet is the favorite in every Confederation League match. But for the umpteenth time, we are faced with the reality that all predictions can be completely wrong.

Of course, it is quite difficult to turn things around in the second leg, where Aston Villa must chase down a 2 goal deficit, while Olympiakos will act as hosts. However, the opportunity is still open for Aston Villa, and it is possible that they will be able to overcome the 2 goal deficit, and it is possible that the winner will be determined through a penalty shootout.

Yes indeed, I also did not expect Aston Villa to lose at home with a score of 2-4 like that because of course, Aston Villa is a team that is favored to win and not Olympiacos. With a big defeat like this, then I think it could be that Aston Villa will fail to turn things around in the second leglater because after all, in the second leg later also Aston Villa will play away. Of course, Olympiacos will also make a good effort to be able to maintain the aggregate victory, moreover Olympiacos will also play at home so the support for Olympiacos will be fully owned in the second leg later.

About Fiorentina defeating Club Brugge, but I think it's not easy for Fiorentina to win in the home match. Because anyway, the goal winner for Fiorentina also happened in injurytime, while Club Brugge only played with 10 players since the 61st minute. Although Club Brugge only played with 10 players but in fact Club Brugge also managed to make an equalizer to 2-2 but unfortunately, Club Brugge still failed because they conceded in the 90+1 minute and the match ended with a score of 3-2. With results likethis, then I think Club Brugge still has a chance to be able to turn things around in the secondleg later because yes, I think Club Brugge also still has a chance and a good performance to get a goodresult in the second leg later at home.

Yeah from the first leg we can see Aston Villa and Fiorentina are in a difficult situation because the second leg they will play away, I can't say anything as a reason to motivate because they had missed the opportunity in the first leg. Aston Villa must win with a difference of 2 goals in the next match while Olympiacos only needs a draw and that's not a difficult thing when they play in front of their supporters meaning Olympiacos has full support to go to the final.

The same thing applies to Fiorentina even though Fiorentina won the first leg, the difference of 1 goal was not safe enough and Club Brugge has a chance to catch up. Yeah here I can say both teams have almost the same chances 55:45 well Fiorentina must be able to do something to take over or Club Brugge will do it. Indeed, Fiorentina still has a chance to go to the final, but it is not easy when playing as the away team in the second leg.
It was match result that really did not live up to expectations, Aston Villa previously performed very well and they were expected to win the first leg at home with big score but in reality they failed.
Aston Villa game in defense really looked bad, they often failed to prevent counter-attacks carried out by Olympiakos players and this result disappointed everyone, especially Aston Villa fans.
In the second leg, Aston Villa will play away from home and this will be much more difficult match to win with an aggregate of 2 points behind, the hopes for Aston Villa are really very small.
Previously they were the favorite team but now everything has changed significantly.

Fiorentina finished the first leg with score of 3 - 2 and this was clearly much better result than what Aston Villa suffered.
Even though they will play away from home, there is still hope of winning or maintaining draw and having the match be finished by penalty shootout, this is still good opportunity.

Of course it’s no surprising how intense European competitions are usually are as the match between Fiorentina and Club Brugge wasn’t failing in intensity. This match is one that we saw both teams fighting it out till the end and they were so ready to leave it all out on the pitch of play.

Well we saw a winner in the match, Fiorentina and they were able to get the win despite Club Brugge fighting hard even when they were down with one man. Looking at the 2nd leg, Club brugge who will be playing at home will be taking serious advantage of that and ready to overturn the victory. Well I’ll still bank on Fiorentina to be able to qualify but the second leg at Belgium won’t be really easy.

Aston Villa and Olympiacos also had a very intensed match which got Aston Villa 2 goals down while they head to Greece for the 2nd leg. This deficit gives Olympiacos the edge as all they need is a draw and they head straight to the finals of the competition. Olympiacos have the major advantage of the 4 to head to the finals because they also have an incredible good record at home as amongst the 4 teams. Fiorentina will have to be resilient to be able to go through as Club Brugge will be fighting real hard to be able to at least get a win, well football they say is unpredictable but in this case, I think Fiorentina will be able to head to the finals too.

What Olympiacos did tonight. I think everyone was surprised. I really didn't expect this result.
Everyone thought Aston Villa would win but Olympiakos won the game with a 2 goal difference. They are one step closer to the final.

I think the game between Fiorentina and Club Brugge was very exciting. Fiorentina won the game.
Aston Villa was the favorite to win the conference league before yesterday's match and the odds for Olympiacos to win were 6.5 so you can say that even the bookmakers did not believe it and even when Olympiacos led 2:0 it seemed that Aston Villa was still saving and then Aston Villa was still saving and then Aston Villa evened the score 2:2 through the efforts of Diaby and Watkins, but then Douglas Luis at first fouled and Olympiacos earned a penalty that was realized and led in the score, and at the end Douglas Luis himself could not score a penalty and in fact reduced to a minimum the chances of Aston Villa to win and get into the next stage.

Today I read about the coach of Olympiacos and it turns out he won the Europa League with Sevilla last year.

This game that surprised me. however, It was a comfortable and expected win for a team that operates at a much higher level than the overhyped team, as evidenced by the outcome. I've been following Villa's games this season, and I've always had faith in Douglaz Luiz when it comes to taking penalties. His teammates trust him too, given his flawless record of scoring all his previous penalties this season. However, last night, he missed one. It was a forgettable night for Aston Villa against Olympiacos. Let's be honest, European competitions can be tough for inexperienced teams. Olympiacos has more experience than Aston Villa, especially in European competitions. They're a seasoned side in these tournaments. I wouldn't mind seeing Olympiacos make it to the final and clinch the win.
Indeed, Olympiacos have much more experience in European competitions than Aston Villa and just with the arrival of Unai Emery it seems that Aston Villa has always played at such a high level.
That's what it means to do your job perfectly, like Unai Emery, when it seems that it has always been this good. Even the bookmakers forgot that Olympiacos is a much more experienced team in European competitions than Aston Villa and gave out immeasurably higher odds for Olympiacos to win and those Greek fans who believed in their team and were not afraid to place their bets were clearly able to make good money.
The next match will be just as competitive, which means that Aston Villa still have a chance to win the match.

Aston Villa destroyed so many bets last night that everyone was shocked. Probobly the most easiest match lost and it was just a huge shame and i think that the difference of two goals is really hard to make up. I dont think Unai Emery can make something up to try and turn the second leg around. If you want to win a european trophy you cannot play on this level.
That's the thing that everyone thought that the match will be easy and me included, but it was correctly written here that if you look at the situation critically, you have to admit that Olympiacos has more experience in the European Cup, and their coach won the Europa League with a rather weak Sevilla and such high coefficients on Olympiacos should not be, in reality you should have put a coefficient of 2.5 or so on the victory of Olympiacos, but not 6.4.
Therefore, many people thought that since the odds on Aston Villa's victory are around 1.6, it will be an easy walk for Aston Villa, but the reality turned out to be different.
Aston Villa were also unlucky when Douglas Luiz failed to convert a penalty.
2 goals can still be scored, I think Aston Villa still have a chance, at least 20-30% to go out. It is even possible to win 2 goals and then go further on a penalty shootout, the main thing is to keep the advantage of at least 2 goals in regular time.

Definitely most people got surprised by what they saw.  Smiley  I mean the whole world bet on Aston Villa to win this match but it was an embarrassing kind of loss. I have no idea how they can do this even home. Because they are normally wonderful in home matches this season. If I'm not wrong they didn't even draw in the Conference League matches they played so far also.

Olympiacos were really bad against Fenerbahçe. This is the main reason why I was shocked to see this score yesterday. Will Emery really lose to them in a season like this?

Fenerbahçe fans must be really disappointed to see this result.  :/
I have to be agreed about this was embarrassing defeat, but this was not surprising specially those watch the defeat of Liverpool against Atlanta few days back because soccer is funny game, and we can expect results like these with UEFA is also having history of results like these Aston Villa having well control, but two early goals bring them down and then in early minutes of the second half we have another session of goals which give them no time for having any recovery from this humiliating defeat.

Even we are still having chance for both sides but Olympiacos will be on better side and can qualify for the final which could be good reward of their impressive performance in this first leg at the Villa Park which give huge shock and now mountain to climb for the spot into final which is surely not easy while they are doing their best for having spot into top four as well.

The result of the Aston Villa vs Olympiacos match was beyond all of our expectations, after Aston Villa managed to beat strong teams in the Conference League such as Ajax and Lille, of course they became one of the favorites to win the Conference League trophy this season, while Olympiacos is certainly just an underdog who is only lucky to be lucky to reach the semi-finals after undergoing an easy match before,  Looking at the odds (Aston Villa Win 1.44, Draw 4.75, Olympiakos Win 6.50) given by the bookies before the match started, of course it indicates that Olympiacos is not a team that is expected to beat Aston Villa, so I am sure for now many of us have indeed lost money after betting for Aston Villa victory.

To be honest, with the quality, performance and also supported by the experience possessed by Unay Emery, of course it is not difficult for Aston Villa to beat Olympiacos, especially Aston Villa playing at home so that moral support for them is also very large from fans, but in fact we see if all that does not guarantee for Aston Villa to get a victory in the match, With a 2-4 aggregate of course it's difficult to turn things around but I think Aston Villa still have hope of doing it in the second leg.

The bookmakers even give low odds for Aston Villa because they are the favourite and indeed most were predict Aston Villa will be the winner of this match especially during at home Aston Villa always be performing well but surprisingly Olympiacos can displayed fantastic performance and they even can scores 4 goals in this match and actually Aston Villa has a chance to scored because they got penalty kick but unfortunately Aston Villa player was failed to utilized that to scored and after this result Olympiacos probably will be advances to the final match because for second leg they will playing as a host and i am sure Olympiacos will be able to beat Aston Villa again later

For other match although Fiorentina was win from Club Brugge but i don't think their position will be automatically safe because for second leg Club Brugge still have any chances to reversed the situation and yesterday Fiorentina almost be playing draw but luckily after Onyedika got a red card Fiorentina can control the game and M'Bala Nzola was became an hero of this match with his goal at the second half of injury time and actually i was a bit dissapoint to see Fiorentina performance because before this match i was hoping they can win with big scores from Club Brugge
Quite surprising Aston Villa lost out that way and infront of their home fans. Well this shows that the English team will really have a lot to do next season in Europe because this season hasn’t been the best for them. They were lots of confidence on this Villa side being able to defeat Olympiacos but the reverse was the case here as Olympiacos were able to comfortably thrash out this Villa side with them scoring over 4 goals which is quite an impressive stats.

Aston Villa were in control of the game but I think them not being clinical in front of goal cost them the game. Well you can call it over already for them because they might not be able to defeat this informed Olympiacos side at home due to their excellent record while playing at home. Fiorentina on the other end were able to get the job done against Club Brugge as this puts them one leg in the finals already as they wait to seal up the job in the 2nd leg.

Fiorentina were able to control the game and make sure they get the win and I think the red card helped them because this club brugge side didn’t look like they came to joke. Well itsup to the 2nd leg to be the major determinant of who plays in the finals and I cant wait to see Fiorentina in the finls again.

Previously I personally bet on Aston Villa's victory against Olympiacos, before the game started, of course there are no of us here who do not favorite Aston Villa as the winner, because indeed Aston Villa has everything they need to be the winner in the game, but in fact yesterday they almost suffered a humiliating defeat by Olympiakos, playing at home certainly adds to our confidence if Aston Villa will be able to beat Olympiacos with a big score because indeed the quality and performance of the two teams at this time are really inversely proportional, but the surprise given by olympiakos certainly made some of us here have lost money in the match.

While in other matches, Fiorentina was also previously considered to have an easy match against Brugge, but in fact Fiorentina also almost got a draw at home, but fortunately Nzola's goal in the final minute made Fiorentina win with a narrow score of 3-2, for now it seems that it will be difficult to guess who will qualify for the final round after seeing the results of the first leg played.
It is clear that Fiorentina and Olympiakos have great potential to advance to the final after winning the first leg match, they have already put one foot in the final. The chances of Aston Villa and Club Brugge turning things around are relatively low, especially for Aston Villa who have to chase down a 2 goal deficit. Of course we didn't expect Unai Emery squad, which was the favorite to win, to actually collapse, Olympiakos managed to break some predictions and make bettors suffer losses. I predict that if Olympiakos advances to the final and faces Fiorentina there, it is very likely that the Greek representatives will win the championship trophy this season.

Fiorentina were actually finalists last season, and the Serie A representatives definitely have a good mentality to realize their ambitions. However, when faced with another reality, where Olympiakos was able to get rid of Aston Villa who were much more favored, then we would think twice about saying that Fiorentina would be able to win the trophy. However, this is just a personal assumption, and can be it is possible that the next scenario will change completely, and surprises may occur again. We are of course aware that there are no guarantees here, but what is clear is that if Aston Villa were eliminated it would be the biggest surprise.

Take a look at my merits, It's lucky number
In the other match of the day, Club Brugge, who took the lead in the league, faced fiorentina away.We can say that Fiorentina is the heavy favorite in this match.Fiorentina, who managed to win at home, got an advantageous result to pass the round. We can say that the fact that their opponent was down to 10 men also played a role in this win.Although they managed to win with a last minute goal, it still seems risky for them to pass the round.I do not expect the winner of this match to win the cup.The winner of the cup will most likely be the winner of the Aston Villa-Olympiakos match.

Fiorentina 3 - 2 Club Brugge isn't a decent result for Fiorentina because Fiorentina is considered stronger than Club Brugge and is playing at home. I don't know for sure the rules for this competition, do the rules for the difference between home & away results still apply? such as if Club Brugge wins with a score of 1 - 0 in the second leg they will be the winners.

On the other hand, I also didn't expect Aston Villa to be beaten by a big score at Villa Park, they almost secured their position for the UCL next season, why don't they just focus on the UECL which they might be able to get this season?

Definitely most people got surprised by what they saw.  Smiley  I mean the whole world bet on Aston Villa to win this match but it was an embarrassing kind of loss. I have no idea how they can do this even home. Because they are normally wonderful in home matches this season. If I'm not wrong they didn't even draw in the Conference League matches they played so far also.

Olympiacos were really bad against Fenerbahçe. This is the main reason why I was shocked to see this score yesterday. Will Emery really lose to them in a season like this?

Fenerbahçe fans must be really disappointed to see this result.  :/
