Give all before death
England is through and will face Switzerland in the quarter-final, but this was not a great performance by Southgate's team.
They lacked focus and their defence was far from perfect. They allowed Slovakia for too much.
I don't think they would manage to come back if Strelec used that gift from English defenders and hit the target (he wasn't far off).
I think Switzerland could be a favourite.

Meanwhile, Georgia is leading 1-0 against Spain after 36 minutes. I don't think they'll be able to drive it till the end but hope I'm wrong.
As the match was approaching the final minutes one of my friends who is a strong supporter of England began to rain curse on Gareth Southgate. He was calling him so many terrible names for leading the club the Three Lions to a disgraceful end in the EURO. Then Jude Bellingham performed that miracle that brought hope to the English side. Harry Kane also lived up to expectations heading the winner.

England's performance has not been impressive in this competition. If it was when England was in its glory days Slovakia would have been an easy win. But we might also say that some of these overlooked countries have also improved. England will have to improve its performance because they might not be lucky next time. I will have to call my friend to see if he has withdrawn all the curses he placed on Southgate.

Bellingham is a really different player, you look at him and he hasn't done anything during the game but he scores in extra time. He scored in extra time for the sixth time this season, which is an incredible statistic. He was a big part of Real Madrid's success and today he was the man who saved England. England don't inspire confidence but they are moving on.

The first half has ended and Rodri has prevented Spain from losing in the first half. Good teamwork has supported Spain to create many opportunities, Rodri made good use of assists from Williams and scored a goal. Spain played well in this match, but I think their success really depends on how they increase the pressure in the second half. Domination is certainly a common feature of the Spanish game, but they need to try some ways to score more than goals against a team that focuses on defense.

Spain fired 17 shots, of which 6 were on target. They also had 79% of the ball possession, but Georgia's good defense made it difficult for Spain to score. The second half is coming soon, so I hope the match will be exciting even though there is a possibility of extra time if Spain and Georgia don't manage to score in the second half.

We have to admit that the England team was very lucky today. This is the reason why England team was able to win this match till the end. England's players could not score any goal till 90 minutes. Slovakia scored the first goal of the match in the 25th minute. And even though they had some good attacks, the team managed to keep their defense strong. England could not break down Slovakia's defense despite attacking heavily. But due to a wonderful goal by Bellingham at the last moment, England managed to draw the match. It was an incredible goal.

After watching Italy's defeat I was ready to watch England's defeat today. We don't see good performance from the renownrd and big teams in this year's Euro, France's performance is also not as good as expected. I doubt France will win against Belgium.
Sure enough, England was very lucky today, Belligham and Harry Kane managed to help England turn things around, before the normal round ended, many predicted that England would have the same fate as Italy. From looking at the progress of the match, England were actually not yet in their best form, Slovakia almost got rid of them. Even though England dominated possession of the ball, Southgate squad only managed to get two shots on target, fortunately these shots turned into goals. Belligham was the difference in the match, and the equalizer was truly a beauty. England will face Switzerland in the quarter finals, and in my opinion England needs to update its strategy to be able to win the match more easily. Regarding the France versus Belgium match, on paper Mbappe and his colleagues are more worthy of being favourites.
I agree with you, what England had was just pure luck, Slovakia couldn't hold on with the grip they had on England, they forgot that as a team that is winning, towards the end of the 90 minutes of play is always dangerous if you don't double up your defence.  that single goal from Bellingham changed the entire structure of the Game, England on one side too had a very brilliant striker who had been on the low for a little while during the match, so immediately that opportunity came during the extra time, Harry Kane didn't make no mistakes to announce his presence. So the two top notch England players in the team were able to make the difference.

I think Southgate is struggling to pick players to suit the kind of formation he wants, ordinarily if you look at the England team, it just more of big name individual players that supposedly have some prominence in the premier League and outside the premier League that are majorly in his team, so he doesn't really have an all-round perfect squad even with the amount of good players  at his disposal.

A good goal that, at least for a while, will protect Bellingham from the unfounded criticism that he has been subjected to lately.
I was completely disappointed in Kane - he scored the winning goal, but was a real drag on the team. In the previous three attempts that he had, he could not even hit the target. I don’t know if Southgate can be so bold, but it seems to me that Kane’s place is on the bench.

As expected, England played very badly and in my opinion did not deserve to go through. Slovakia fought much harder and it is a shame that they did not manage to hold on to the 1-0 result in the last few minutes. But the Swiss have a good chance in the next round!

By the way, Georgia has just scored the first goal, so we could now bet on a Spanish victory and get very good odds!

Yes, England certainly did not play as the main favorite (which they were before the start of the tournament). I can’t say that they were terrible, because at the right moments they were able to put serious pressure on Slovakia (for example, Rice’s shot did not turn into a goal because of just a couple of centimeters), but still they did not play much better than Slovakia. Switzerland will be 1/4 favorites  Grin
As for Spain, I don’t understand why they play so high - if Georgia had a little faster/skilled strikers, the score would be 2-1 and not 1-1 as it is now. Spain dominates but every Georgian counterattack leads to a slight panic in the Spanish defense.

Incredible what we have seen today so far.

England was losing until 95' vs a mediocre team but reversed the result with a super goal from Bellingam.
Now Spain also was losing with Georgia but manage to equalize the game.

At this point I can't see a dominat team in this Euro, maybe Germany is the more consistent-

I thought England were going home but Bellingham held on, Jude's goal was pretty cool...

Who would have thought England would go through after such a messy game? I didn't really believe it and from the start England were going to lose because of how badly they played but towards the end they were able to go all the way.

Bellingham and Kane score, there's still a chance of another goal for Slovakia.
And to think that's actually their first clear chance at goal and Bellingham did well to convert it and gave them hope again because to be frank with this kind of performance there are actually going nowhere because I don't think they get this lucky with other teams in this competition.

Madrid players will not get much criticism, with many supporters saying that England have been carried by Bellingham.

Southgate will still believe in Kane even though he is not on target several times, Southgate is just curious that he might be the decisive one for England.

Kane will never be on the bench, he will still start for Southgate with the formation never changed at the start.

Jude "THE SAVIOR", and no doubt about that. His bicycle kick helped England avoid losing against Slovakia. The tension was so high when it was a few minutes away, before 96 minutes. Jude has been answering this. I have no words to describe Bellingham as a super hero for England in Euro 2024.

Who else do you think would win the Ballon Dior this year? Most real football fans will admit that Jude Bellingham deserves the title and no other. However, there have been several good players like Haaland, Foden and Mbape that are on the line for it but if it is not given to Jude i will feel it has been robbed.

I was totally aware of how frustrated England's players are, and they frequently play long ball. Walker's throw-in has been saving England from leaving earlier in 2024.

I have no words to describe how amazing Bellingham is.
You know right? The fans were completely in pain until the first goal came in. Then Harry Kane has to make sure everything is safe an the win is assured. However, it still doesn't change the fact that i was disappointed with England from the start of the match. They would have won since but find it difficult to score.

Jude made things different for the English end.
I think everyone would have predicted the same thing when it was extra time and time was running out but England were still 1 goal behind there would be many who thought that England would be eliminated in this competition but indeed Jude seems to want to adopt the style of play taught by Ancelotti where extra time is the right situation to make a difference in terms of results Cheesy

Fortunately for today's match England were saved from defeat and progressed to the quarter finals because otherwise I think a lot of people would have started to boo England when they failed in the last 16 with such a capable squad but the goals from Kane and Jude which were actually quite late saved Southgate's face and still gave him the opportunity to change England for the better in the next round.

Spain are currently playing against dark horses Georgia but the situation is the same as the start of the game in the England match as well as this is the first time Spain have conceded a goal in this Euro after 3 previous matches they have always kept a clean sheet.
I am waiting to see if the result will be the same as England or Georgia will surprise again like in the group stage.

In today's match, I will just say that England was lucky. If not, it could have been a different story now. When the time was 90 minutes, I had given up on England and thought they had been disqualified because I was not expecting any goals from them at that time due to their poor attacks. It really surprised me to see England controlling the pitch but failing to create good chances to score. England just had one shot on target from the 1st to the 90th minute. Based on their performance, I was not expecting that England would find it so difficult to win against Slovakia because I view England's squad as much better than Slovakia's.

England were really a lucky side to have gotten that equalising goal by Jude Bellingham by that time in that 90th minutes plus in the game and obviously has been playing a good football in this match, and think they really deserve a wining,  aside that I wouldn't want to see England go in this Round of 16, Slovakia has kept mounting pressure on England's 18 yard box trying to equalize the goal.
In as much as I wouldn't want to play down the luck effect on England's win against Slovakia this evening, we mustn't shy away from the fact that the Three Lions of England were undoubtedly the better side in that their round of 16 game. Slovakia scored with one of their very few chances in the game but what kept them in the game for that long was because they weren't playing under pressure and despite everything England were throwing at them, they were calm enough to soak the pressure from their opponents.
As a Real Madrid fan, I was very happy to see Jude Bellingham rise to the occasion when it mattered most to score that stunning goal that left a huge shock in the Slovakians camp. England have shown that they're capable of breaking the defense of any team no matter how resilient they are with the win against Slovakia tonight
I was very anxious because I almost lost my bet. that's football, sometimes luck comes when everything is almost impossible. but England had a chance when the concentration of the Slovak players dropped. and this was put to good use by English players who didn't want to lose or draw.
In the next round, England will face Switzerland, this is a new round that will not be easy for both teams. Switzerland managed to hold Germany to a draw and beat Italy in the previous round. This match will be really difficult to predict.

I thought England would have the same fate as Italy but, they were able to force the match to go to extra time. The difference with Italy is that England really tried desperately to equalize, and all their efforts have yielded good results. Bellingham's goal was not only a savior for England, but it was scored in a stunning manner. When compared with their performance while still in the group phase, England's performance has improved but, they still have to be better if they want to beat Switzerland in the quarterfinals.
Italy couldn't press Switzerland while England could still do it, it's just that England was able to defend well at the end even though I myself still don't believe it because it was more than 90 minutes but England still couldn't score at that time, it was pretty good because it hopes that many English people want to qualify not fate like Italy.

England's performance improved not much because with the way they played it was still difficult to score goals, even Soutgate had changed several times this player did not produce results even though in the final minute it was decisive for them, because in the quarter-finals to meet Switzerland I'm not sure they will perform even better because Switzerland is better than Slovakia.

England really had difficulty penetrating Slovakia's tight and well-concentrated defense, but in the end Bellingham was England's savior with a charming goal. All the players really worked hard in this match, it's just that England's luck didn't show up early and they always found a deadlock. Yes, in injury time, luck was on England's side and they managed to force Slovakia into extra time.

Harry Kane's goal was the last goal scored in this match, but overall the performance of the English players was still far from expectations. I don't really get the impression that England are worthy of being favourites, I mean they have difficulty finding solutions when the game becomes a stalemate. But the match is over now, we need to congratulate England who will next face Switzerland in the quarter-finals.

Germany was obvious, but Italy was a shock to me. Don't get me wrong, a lot of people called them out, so it wasn't like nobody knew it or anything like that. However, I did not see this at all and I thought that it would not be all that simple and Italy would be able to win. That was a bad loss for me, but thankfully Germany game made most of it back anyway so it is not like a permanent one, I got most of it back already and I bet that I won't be shocked with rest of the games this much.

This is just a situation that needs to be considered as a big deal, and can't really consider it anything more than that. Italy will be the only one I am shocked I am sure, rest should go easier than I have seen so far, or at least it should.
