We have to admit that the England team was very lucky today. This is the reason why England team was able to win this match till the end. England's players could not score any goal till 90 minutes. Slovakia scored the first goal of the match in the 25th minute. And even though they had some good attacks, the team managed to keep their defense strong. England could not break down Slovakia's defense despite attacking heavily. But due to a wonderful goal by Bellingham at the last moment, England managed to draw the match. It was an incredible goal.
After watching Italy's defeat I was ready to watch England's defeat today. We don't see good performance from the renownrd and big teams in this year's Euro, France's performance is also not as good as expected. I doubt France will win against Belgium.
Sure enough, England was very lucky today, Belligham and Harry Kane managed to help England turn things around, before the normal round ended, many predicted that England would have the same fate as Italy. From looking at the progress of the match, England were actually not yet in their best form, Slovakia almost got rid of them. Even though England dominated possession of the ball, Southgate squad only managed to get two shots on target, fortunately these shots turned into goals. Belligham was the difference in the match, and the equalizer was truly a beauty. England will face Switzerland in the quarter finals, and in my opinion England needs to update its strategy to be able to win the match more easily. Regarding the France versus Belgium match, on paper Mbappe and his colleagues are more worthy of being favourites.
I agree with you, what England had was just pure luck, Slovakia couldn't hold on with the grip they had on England, they forgot that as a team that is winning, towards the end of the 90 minutes of play is always dangerous if you don't double up your defence. that single goal from Bellingham changed the entire structure of the Game, England on one side too had a very brilliant striker who had been on the low for a little while during the match, so immediately that opportunity came during the extra time, Harry Kane didn't make no mistakes to announce his presence. So the two top notch England players in the team were able to make the difference.
I think Southgate is struggling to pick players to suit the kind of formation he wants, ordinarily if you look at the England team, it just more of big name individual players that supposedly have some prominence in the premier League and outside the premier League that are majorly in his team, so he doesn't really have an all-round perfect squad even with the amount of good players at his disposal.
