This is exactly what I have being talking about this England team, I mean from day one and up till now they haven't been convincing at all with their performance and of the results end at the current state which is 1-0 in favour of Slovakia I won't be surprise at all because this team have been struggling since the tournament started.

Even with the first half over it's currently Slovakia who are 1 goal ahead Cheesy
As usual nothing has changed in England's game because the performance remains the same where they can only play the ball without any significant opportunities and indeed this is not much different from England's game in the previous 3 matches which are indeed very monotonous in the game.

England lack creativity because coach Southgate is the root of the problem. The position is 0:1 behind and statistically England should still be able to catch up, but England game in the first half with 0 shots on target is a big question mark, what does the coach really want to maximize attacks? Foden also didn't have the right partner, Maino was quite good but Saka was very invisible for more than 45 minutes.

The second half has started and I hope England will put up some resistance, it would be a shame if Slovakia lost.
I've read some of the opinions of others in the thread where they say that what ruined England for this Euro was not their opponents but Southgate who did manage the team badly and indeed in the 3 group stage matches as well as today's match it was evident. Their matches are very boring for a big team because they are very monotonous in doing the game strategy.

It cannot be denied that no matter how good the team is with the majority of players who have a level above average but when the coach is bad it will not have any impact because the coach is clearly a benchmark for a team in concocting attacks and Southgate cannot do that.
The second half England pressed again but the goal was disallowed by VAR which made the situation the same where they had to play more offensively in order to equalize the score in today's match.

England will always play like a clueless team until they are been eliminated from the tournament and I see the Slovakia team playing more better than the English side, even if they don't have the big stars in their team they still try to play as a unit with a plan and they are everywhere trying to defend the ball. Since the beginning of this tournament England have been winning in ball possession and they can hang on the ball for 20 mins but nothing to show for and is really frustrating to the fans. I want England to be eliminated but not like this and to this team, I still have the hope they are going to win this game and be eliminated in the quarter finals.

Hey guys, I don't know, but I see the match between England and Slovakia very bad for England, England go 0 and Slovakia 1, if this continues they will be eliminated, and that would be a very big blow, they already eliminated a great team like Italy, which I honestly didn't think was going to go out, but England with so much quality if it remains, it hurts a bit to see them go, for me this is something that surprises me, but to tell the truth I like the way Slovakia is doing it, their football is great, very forceful, and I see that now things can turn around, if England does not go out with everything, they are left out, it would be something that would hurt me a lot to not see these great players.

I rated Germany above England in the tournament, and I also said that some players needs to do better else they'll not get through to the semi-finals and that statement is gradually becoming a reality if England doesn't step up their game, they need to be hitting the target and create good chances for that to be possible they're short on a goal and needs two goals or more to be ahead in this game. It would be very sad to the English fans if they don't qualify to the next round, their reactions could tell cause they've looked so frustrated, the fans want more and England has to look for every possible means to turn the game in their favour, they've got about 45mins to do that. Anyways, what a brilliant goal by Schranz.

Now the first half is almost over and we still haven't seen any difference made by England and if it continues I don't feel that the second half will be different because surely with the advantage that Slovakia currently has they will for the start of the second half will reduce the tempo and do a devensive scheme even though they are currently still 1 goal ahead.
Southgate is really bad at managing England in this Euro even though they have a much more complex squad but England's schemes and formations are still bored.
Southgate need to change some players in his squad in this coming half if not they will lose this tournament at this very moment.

I wanted to give the blame to the England defense, but when I checked the line up, I can see that Southgate come up with best team he can both from the defense and the midfield, I don’t know what I should hold as the main reason for England downfall in their matches in this competition.
If they are lucky, they can make it in the second half because they are currently dominating the match.

The England vs Slovakia Round of 16 singles match is going to be a very exciting match even though the half time play is already over. And in today's match, the England team could not be successful despite attacking sufficiently, but the Slovakia team is still ahead in the result by giving England a goal. If England team can't equalize and win against the opposition in today's match then they must be eliminated from the Euro Cup. England are relatively ahead in terms of attack and everything but still haven't been able to keep the ball in the opposition goal net. But I think after half-time maybe England will be more excited and a strong attack is definitely possible to come back. And if England can win the match with their strong attack then they will go to the quarter finals, and if they are not successful then the Slovakian team will confirm the quarter finals.

I think that in the matches of the day, England - Slovakia will be a match between two teams that are evenly matched.

Currently, England is 0-1 behind Slovakia. England are certainly good at dominating matches, but they lack in creating goals chance and taking advantage of them. Slovakia tend to be more effective, I mean they can take advantage of their few chances and score goals. Of course there is still plenty of time for England to score, but so far they have struggled to find it.

Gareth Southgate seemed to have to change his game plan and rotate several players in the second half. Bukayo Saka hasn't had the same form as he did with Arsenal, so I'm inclined to expect Gareth Southgate to play Cole Palmer instead. Cole Palmer looked better in my opinion, but I'm looking forward to seeing what happens in the remaining half.
Now as we have end of the first half we have score of 0–1 in favour of Slovakia which is surprising because odds were clearly favouring England for having big win after their poor start of this Euro 2024 campaign, but now things are looking pretty worst and if they are not able to bring themselves to the level in coming 45 minutes then surely we are going to watch another big upset and exit for the England.

We have well control first half with 73% ball possession but still fail to convert their chances into goal which is clearly showing lack of creativity and better ideas for England many top players are completely failed to give their best which is the biggest dilemma for the England hopefully things will be improved in second half from the Southgate men if they want to put themselves at the better spot.

The first half score was quite satisfactory because the Slovak players put pressure on England. With a game like this, it is difficult for England to equalize. I mean there were lots of opportunities that could have been exploited by England strikers but somehow there were too many balls in the back area. When Slovakia counterattacked it was certainly very easy because Walker worked alone in his position. As per the bet Slovakia scored the first goal and I was satisfied. The second half should be able to add goals, despite the controversy over the referee who often issued excessive yellow cards, but both teams were indeed disadvantaged by the referee decision. In the first round England received 3 cards and Slovakia received 2 cards.

England are the favorites but what's clear is 0 on target, what's the point? I think it's clear that Southgate tactics are nothing special. England seemed to have no chance of qualifying if there were no changes in the second half.

I wonder if Spalletti will be fired? Under him, the Italian team began to play worse.
I wouldn't be surprised as teams are really unpredictable about when to sack a coach. For example, England is still keeping Southgate despite the horrible performance.  Smiley

I don't understand Spalletti as well. He said that he didn't have the energy anymore to move on with Napoli. But a short time later we saw him accepting a national job offer. I mean of course national teams are less busy than a club. But still it doesn't make sense to me. I think the best thing for him would be to stay there instead of managing Italy.  Tongue
From the start, there were many people who doubted Spalletti because he mostly chose young players who were brought to the Euros and even many of the players in the Italian squad did not have experience. I was not surprised by their failure and even since the group stage I have seen that. Spalletti has not succeeded in building this team perfectly, the team's performance is still inconsistent and their performance is also not that impressive.
I think that for the future development of Italian football, Spalletti must be fired, he has shown that he has failed.

England vs Slovakia
Broadly speaking, of course on paper England has a greater chance of winning, but on the field Slovakia looks optimistic by taking advantage of the imbalance in England game, which always struggles to create more opportunities. So even though England are the favorites, there is still a percentage that gives Slovakia a breath of fresh air if the English players have difficulty implementing Southgate's strategy again.
In the group phase, it can be seen that England's performance is not that impressive even though they have a lot of quality players, but there have been many criticisms of the England team's performance so far, as have I, so I think even though England are very favorites, Slovakia still has the opportunity to put up a fierce resistance and make a surprise.
I bet on +1.5 Slovakia in this match.
For the first time in this tournament Kobbie Mainoo will be starting in the first X1 with Gallagher on the bench. Mainoo has been of significant impact in England recent games despite coming from the bench so with Gate starting him to pair with Declan Rice we should be seeing a threshold improved performance not just within the midfield but which will influence their attacking pressure against Slovakia. I think with the quality of players in the England squad, Southgate is also having a difficult time with his start X1 as every player is battling to find the first shirt in the team so far which has kept Palmer and Mainoo coming from the bench in all of their games despite the robust impact they make within the few minutes they get on the pitch.

Georgia's last victory over Portugal may not be completely used as a reference because in that match Portugal didn't play hard anymore.
However, Georgia has a lot of positive energy from this victory, the team's confidence and mentality will increase drastically, but this is a sacred match against Spain, the Spanish team will play hard of course and if you look at Spain's performance since the group phase, I think they have a consistent performance. and impressive so that I quite favor Spain to win and I even predict this will be an easy match for Spain.
Georgia is undeniably one of the team's in this tournament with a solid defense and have been up and doing despite not been seen as a team that would go far among the competitors. Their win against Portugal was just at a timing when Portugal had nothing to risk in losing that match which is why I won't use that result from that game to say Georgia will be a trouble for Spain having seen how these Spanish boys play. Spain had a complete 9 points in their groups, they have the best take-ons and passing strokes which am quite convince it won't take more than first half of the game before they break Georgia's defense to continue in their leading campaign in all games played.

I don't know if Southgate has issues with Palmer that he does not like playing him, and this is the time that he is suppose to give Palmer a chance to showcase his qualities. Palmer single handed took Chelsea from 10th position to 6th position with his brilliant performance, he is hot and in his best form let Southgate give him a trial.

I will not be surprised if England get knocked out at this stage because that is the way they are. They have all the best players in various clubs in England but their combination yields poor results. I think the problem is from Southgate and not the players. An excellent finish from the Schranz to male the difference in the match.

The first match of Euro 2024 between England and Slovakia is currently underway. The winner of this match will advance to the quarter-finals and face Switzerland, who secured their spot by defeating Italy. The match is being officiated by referee Halil Umut Meler.

England: Pickford, Walker, Stones, Guehi, Trippier, Mainoo, Rice, Saka, Bellingham, Foden, Kane

Slovakia: Dúbravka; Pekarík, Vavro, Skriniar, Hancko; Kucka, Lobotka, Duda; Schranz, Strelec, Haraslín

Half time: 0-1, England could not improve in the first half.

Saka has always been Southgate's mainstay, including in the match against Slovakia. Saka is the player who gets the most ball flow from Rice. In my opinion, Saka did not develop in this match and did not need to be maintained to continue playing in the second half when Palmer and Anthony Gordon could still be played. I also think, if one of them (Palmer and Gordon) had played in place of Saka, then the second half for England would have been different.
Mainoo, he appeared as a good equalizer in the first 45 minutes.

I'm trying to find the best value bet for the game between England and Slovakia, unfortunately I couldn't come to a conclusion due to several shenanigans from England lately, either way I've tried my luck with England to win at halftime @ 2+ Odds. I don't see any much value from other possible options.

I hope we can get an interesting match today, because England have been the most boring team in this competition, from my perspective.
The best would have been over 1.5goals and by now you would have been hoping for only one goal. Maybe the odd for that option may be too low for you but that is a safe bet. Most pundits feel England will enjoy an easy win today but unfortunately, they are one goal down even from first half. Now they have to fight to equalize the goal before thinking about winning the match if they can. I did not actually expected this situation where England will be pushed to tight corner. I was expecting a goalless first half and a full time draw that will spill over to extra time. A draw is still very possible though.

The game is underway at the Gelsenkirchen stadium with Slovakia leading with a 1-0 lead and I'm honestly happy at this scoreline. Hoping it remains like this or they add more goals because frankly England are not serious, like they need a reawakening.
At the moment, the visitors are playing with a confidence that the English don't have and if things end like this, Gareth will have to pack up and leave. I've not really seen any fight or drive from them since this competition started and this is leaving fans disappointed.
England so far have no shot on target and for a team of their calibre, it's a great let down.

Germany qualified for the Super Sixteen by winning their group and in the Super Sixteen Germany beat Denmark by a big margin. Germany played a lot of attacking football against Denmark today and they beat Denmark 2-0. Germany scored two goals while they conceded none. Denmark are strong enough to be Germany's opponents in the Super Sixteen, but they have also done well against such strong opposition. The first goal chance for Germany came from the penalty spot and Germany did not miss the chance. If the first goal was a penalty, then in the 68th minute, Musial secured the team's victory by scoring another goal for the team.

Did you actually see the heavy the down pour? The roof were licking which if not affected the player was causing problem at the stands and anything causing the fans discomfort is worthy enough to bring halt to the game.

This rain was nothing, I guess you haven't seen matches that never stop in worse conditions. We are used to matches that go on like nothing in heavy rain and snow.

Now England and Slovakia are playing for a quarter final place in the round. I think Slovakia are unlikely to make a surprise in this match. England will win the match even if they don't play well. I expect a goal from Kane or Foden. The referee is unfortunately a very bad person, it's a dream to expect him to manage a good match. We may see ridiculous refereeing decisions again. Be careful about your bets.
