Can't wait to see how United will start the game tomorrow after the 7-0 defeat last week. Surely such results should be in the heads of players? You can always have a bad day, but in the EL that is already deadly. Real Betis is also definitely not a walk over, they will have to work hard. Real Betis has of course seen better times, but in principle United should be able to continue. On paper, Juventus seems to have drawn very favorably to advance to the next round, but Freiburg is not doing badly in the competition. Juventus still have a very strong squad, perhaps the best individually after United. But that doesn't say everything nowadays.
Usually when a team loses a game with a bad result like a match between Manchester City and Liverpool the team who lost the game will have a bad situation and they will have problems with the next games they have a will regarding Manchester United they have a Ten Hag as coach to manage this situation for them and maybe they will show a very good performance after this game to prove themselves and decrease the pressure.
I think you were referring to the game between Manchester
United and Liverpool, and not Manchester City.
Just a minor correction.
I don't think that at this level of professionalism where these teams are at that such a defeat will have long-term consequences or even have an influence on the next game let alone determine how they will play in the future at all.
That is essentially what a coach is there for. His task is to get the defeat out of their heads after a proper analysis of the bad game, taking some learnings from it and then make the players forget about the parts that they don't need to improve. It is enough of a dishonor for them to be standing on the pitch when the opponent scores for the fifth, then the sixth, and then even the seventh time. There really isn't any urgency to further punish them. You can raise your voice and make clear for one time that this should never happen again, but afterwards it is all about building a strong mind again for the next game that is just around the corner.
I think ten Haag is a coach who understands the mental state of his team very well and he is a good communicator within the team. He can be tough, but I think he has a good connection to his players. That is what's more important than practicing a single situation a thousand times that they did wrong during the game against Liverpool. They know what went wrong anyway.
