To tell the truth I don't feel like Atalanta will be as competitive as the top contenders. They had a really good group stage first of all. They didn't lose any match. Of course two of their opponents in the group were too easy for them. Sporting were the most challenging one but Atalanta collected 4 points against them as well.

However I don't remember Atalanta much competitive in European cups like this. I mean an achievement like qualifying for the final stage at least. Because of that I think that they would be likely to get eliminated by a serious opponent for the title in one of the close stages.
I think they had some sort of situation where they were good for a few years, and most of those players that made the team were sold and they had trouble with getting players at those type of levels. This caused the team to be not that terrible, not like they are at relegation zone, but they can't be near the top anymore because of this.

When you lose money on the transfers, when you overpay for players then you do not have a fallback, there isn't anything you can do to make the team better, you just need to keep going and make some more money to get some players that are more decent. This roster rebuilding is a very very tough thing to do and that's why we are seeing this trouble, we are going to end up with some bigger issues for sure.

Feyenoord team played very poorly in the Champions League as far as I've seen. They have won only two matches. Their performance against the big teams was poor. But I have also seen Roma's performance in the Europa League. Was their performance too good?
Roma lost 2-0 away match against Slavia Praha. Roma team can't win against Servette either. The performance of the Roma team is also quite erratic. That's why it's not going to be easy for Roma to win against Feyenoord. If Mourinho's match strategy is not good then Roma are likely to lose against Feyenoord. But Mourinho's aim is to win the Europa League title. So Mourinho will try his best to win against Feyenoord.
Yes, Feyenoord is not very good in the champions league, but the problem is that fighting Roma is also not an easy thing because currently Roma is under the guidance of Mourinho and we all know that this coach will never fail to bring his club to a higher level in the current UEL. The competition is very tight but a club that fails in the CL may not necessarily be able to beat a club from the UEL. On the one hand, Feyenoord in the CL was only able to get 2 wins and this means that this is a bad performance experienced by that club.
I think in the first match it is possible that Feyenoord can hold a draw at home, but in the second match I am not sure if Feyenoord will be able to withstand attacks from Mourinho's club.
Jose Mourinho this time is very enthusiastic about trying to achieve success in the UEL even though he has to have a very strong challenger like Leverkusen, but Roma will not just give up.

Mourinho has been trying to win the Europa League title for the last few seasons. The Roma team performed well in the Europa League but they could not win the championship in the end. However, the Roma team played quite well throughout the season. In this season too, Roma's goal is to win the Europa League title. Because Roma do not have the potential and ability to win the Serie A title. Roma are favorites against Feyenoord. But Feyenoord is not a weak team. If Roma players make any mistake in this match they are likely to lose.

Everyone knows Mourinho and his dedication to targets. I agree with you that this match has a 50:50 chance but with Mourinho as coach it seems I will choose Roma who will be able to win the match and advance to the next round. Currently Roma is not performing well in Serie A but I think Feyenoord is not an opponent that should be compared to the top teams in the Serie A standings.
I don't think Feyenoord are that low, otherwise they really don't deserve to be in the Europa League this season. Feyenoord is a real threat to Roma this season in the Europa League, so no one should underestimate them even though Roma and their big names deserve to be favorites. Roma is inconsistent in its performance even though Mourinho is the coach, but Roma has a good chance of qualifying for the next round even though Feyenoord is the second best team in the Eredivisie this season.

In my opinion, Leverkusen is one of the favorites for the title this season in the European League apart from Liverpool. Roma are runners up who will try to do everything to win the title, but Milan also does not deserve to be ignored this season after failing in the Champions League.

However, to be fair, I think Atalanta, who recorded an unbeaten run in the group phase, is also worth considering, there are only two clubs that were untouched by defeat in the group phase, namely Atalanta and Laverkusen. On the other hand, if you look at Atalanta performance in Serie A, it is not very promising, we certainly understand the level of competition there, but in the Europa League Atalanta is showing a different performance.

It can be understood that Roma is the favorite because they have a more competitive league than Feyenoord. The Mourinho and Lukaku factor could also be a good bargaining chip for Roma, but it is not impossible that Roma will be eliminated in the play off round, we have to leave room for surprises open. On the other hand, Mourinho contract will end at the end of the season, as well as Lukaku loan period from Chelsea, this is the momentum to leave a beautiful impression before parting ways at the end of the season.
I think the match between Roma and Feyenoord is an even match, despite the assumptions above. However, head to head, Roma is still ahead with 3 wins, 1 loss and one draw in 5 meetings. Apart from that, it is true that we need to wait a moment and look again at the strength of the two clubs ahead of their meeting in February.
It's not a big surprise if that happens because Feyenoord also has pretty good strength, it's just that Jose Mourinho's experience and Roma's strength has improved since the start of the season, making them slightly favorites, but personally I still say that the percentage for these two teams to qualify is still 50. -50.
And I see that this season Jose Mourinho's ambition to bring Roma to win the Europa League is quite big after their failure in last season's final and as we all know, Jose Mourinho has quite a lot of experience on the European stage and this is worth taking into account.
The Feyenoord team cannot be considered weak. This team is in very good form this season. The team is performing very well in the Eredivise league. Although they are not at the top of the table, the performance of Feyenoord's players is quite good. They can score a lot of goals at the same time. Roma team is unlikely to win easily against Feyenoord. Feyenoord will try their best to win. Feyenoord have no chance of winning the Eredivise League title. So they will try to do well in the Europa League. Mourinho is an experienced coach. Roma squad players are also in very good rhythm. But it will be difficult for them to win against Feyenoord. The performance of Roma players is erratic. Mourinho must come up with his masterplan.
Don't worry. Feyenoord was a garbage team in UCL. It was always losing without even winning a game in the group stage of UCL. That's why feyenoord has dropped to the europa league this season which has proven the quality of feyenoord.
It was getting a little luck caused by it earns more point to finish at the third place then go back to the europa league again. Feyenoord is a weak team and it is not equal to the roma.

Roma is going to win the game with huge margins. Logically, if feyenoord was a strong team then it should be qualified for the top 16 of UCL but it's fail. Im not seeing feyenoord as a threat for roma.
Lukaku is going to score against feyenoord soon but we are still far away from the UCL. Having mou in roma like the club has insurance to win the match against feyenoord. Feye was not more than a mediocre team for roma.
Mou will once again prove himself as a world class manager that can bring cheap squad owned by roma to the final of europa league again soon. This time is kinda different compared to the last season.

Yes indeed, I admit Mourinho is the special one who certainly has great experience in the European scene but even so, the fact is that Mourinho has also failed long after his golden era at that time . Although indeed, at least Mourinho can also still successfully bring AS Roma to get the Conference League trophy two seasons ago . But ya, to bring AS Roma further to the final match in the Europa League this season will certainly not be easy.

But if about to qualify and beat Feyenoord I think it is clear, AS Roma still has a good chance to beat Feyenoord and qualify for the next round. But ya,even so, at least Feyenoord is also not a weak team at all, although AS Roma has better quality than Feyenoord but I'm sure it's still not easy for AS Roma to beat Feyenoord in this phase.

Yes, I admit that it is true because Jose Mourinho wants to bring Roma to win the Europa League title because last season Roma failed to win it due to small mistakes that led to failure but it looks like this season is a little difficult. Because many big Premier League teams are competing here so it hinders Roma's journey to achieve it after all It is also not certain whether Roma will qualify for this play-off round.

The big prem teams are not the problem (except for Liverpool) but it's Bayer Leverkusen who poses the biggest threat to Roma's championship dreams.

They have yet to lose a league match all season. I think they won't make mincemeat of Mourinho's side but they have enough quality in them to cruise past if they ever meet, assuming they don't get butchered during the January window.

Having said that, Feyenoord will probably get dumped out of the playoffs though.

How did Real Madrid not support Zidane? He didn't win the La Liga that same season, rather he lost the league and pressure mounted on him to be sacked, they even have him the support by not sacking him. With the help of the players around, he was able to win the Champions League.
Believe me Zidane quickly resigned immediately after they won the Champions League so he wouldn't be sacked.

I thought when Zidane could not give La Liga titles in the season but Zidane managed to give the Champions League title which was of course more prestigious. Are you saying that because of a lot of pressure due to failing to win La Liga, Zidane chose to resign so as not to be fired? To be honest I don't know what the reason Zidane did that. Is he afraid of losing his reputation if he was fired?
That could be a plausible reason for Zidane's resignation, but I see other reasons for him doing so. After he resigned as Real Madrid coach he has yet to receive an offer, so when I saw that I concluded that the reason he resigned was because he wanted to take a break from coaching and even now I haven't heard of him coming back, even though many clubs are interested in hiring him. It looks like he's still comfortable without a club and hasn't thought about returning to the coaching bench.
But we'll see if there will be any surprises from him being suddenly announced as the coach of a club, including Real Madrid. It is interesting to see this coach, especialy with his brilliant achievements with Real Madrid at that time.

Feyenoord without doubt, have been impressive since the start of the season especially in their local league and would possesses major threat against Roma when they face each other in the  playoff in their two legged game.
However, we must understand that Roma is managed by a very experienced European tactician in the person of Jose Mourinho. Mourinho as we all know is one manager that doesn't joke with any European trophy and would definitely introduce his best tactical method to make sure his team progresses to the quarter finals of the competition.
Actually, in their local league. Feyenoord, in my opinion is not that impressive, if we compared to PSV this season which has had a good performance. Meanwhile, Feyenoord not very consistent in their domestic league, but I also won't underestimate this team Feyenoord because maybe they can be able to achieve satisfactory results again at next. But still, Roma have a better manager. Apart from that, squad of Roma also is actually better and I think in that match Roma can win on away or home games, although it is too early to say that.

Never try to underestimate feyenoord and people will be surprised if roma will lose against it. Feyenoord is considerably strong even though it was struggling at UCL. Mourinho has been facing feyenoord several times and it can be used to fight against it.
Mourinho has faced this club a few times in the past, but I'm still contemplating whether Feyenoord still possesses the same level of strength as they did in the old days. There might be a lot of improvemetns happened with feyenoord and this can be considered as the factor that makes mourinho's experience become obsolete.
Roma still needs to be careful against feyenoord. It was not that strong but it's enough to kick roma out from the europa league. Just never try to underestimate your opponent or you will be getting another disaster.
Even though it sounds unfamilar for us but feyenoord was able playing in the UCL. I value UCL club dropped to the europa league as a stronger club. Lukaku is going to be the only striker roma can rely on.

Jose Mourinho's experience is what makes Roma still perform well to this day even though it is not very consistent but still Roma is not a bottom club. Roma is also like other elite clubs because of its ability to bring in experienced coaches like Jose Mourinho, Feyenoord is not a club that is so foreign to Roma so I think Roma can still take advantage of opportunities well even though you think the percentage is 50:50 but for me Roma's percentage is bigger than Feyenoord.

Zidane should become Real Madrid's manager, he's an overrated manager since he brought Real Madrid win Champions League three times in a row. Now Real Madrid weren't in their prime, we need to know how the result when Zidane become a manager again. Roll Eyes
Xabi might be leave Leverkusen because he will have an opportunity to train a better team and receive higher salary.

I once read the news which said that Zidane left Real Madrid not because he was fired but because he felt he was not supported by the club board. Zidane wants to build a medium and long term squad but the club board may not allow Zidane to spend a lot of money so he feels like the club board does not value him. In fact, if Madrid were still coached by Zidane, it is likely that they would be able to become champions league finalists for some time to come.

Yes Zidane didn't leave Real Madrid because he was fired but he became uncomfortable with the club because he wasn't given the support that he wanted when the club was having some difficulties even after winning both the league and the champions League for the team but he's good works were beginning to fade away so he made use of the available opportunity to resign as the club manager instead of being fired by the club since he wasn't getting the support from the management anymore. I also think Ancelotti has also helped the team to win some trophies but he's also going to help the team become champions League finalist or possibly winning the champions League soon.

Champions League winners at the end of the season? That I can't conclude on, but winning the La Liga, looks like a sure banker.
Zidane made a wise decision to leave the club before he gets sacked to keep his reputation. He really tries his best then when he was the manager of Real Madrid, and the players supported him a lot.

It is true that we cannot tell who will win the champions league this season, but I believe that if Real Madrid can get to the finals, they will be the favorite to win it. This is because they have more experience and are always desperate to win the competition, when playing finals. They have won more finals than losing.

Manage head to head make AS Roma more confidence for playoff UEFA Europe League round match against Feyenoord, won 3 of 5 meeting could be capital for AS Roma get one place on 16 round. Jose Mourinho have more experienced when playing on Europe League because he won many trophies before with FC Porto, Manchester United and last season almost make AS Roma become the winner but have loss in the final match against Sevilla.

AS Roma performance in Europe League most depend on Romelu Lukaku, he scored 5 goals of 6 matches and half of AS Roma goals on group phase from Lukaku contribution. I think he will score goals again on playoff round match against Feyenoord next months and bring Roma qualify to 16 round.

I agree that it is not set in stone that playing home in the second game is an advantage. It could also be subjective perception, but I sometimes think that playing the second game at home could psychologically be advantageous. However, if a team plays first at home and wins that game, it could be an advantage as well when the team can then play patiently, waiting for counter attacks away from home and knowing that a draw would be enough isn't bad either.
In my personal opinion, playing the second game at home isn't an advantage and especially when the hosting team had conceded a goal away already or lost the game away so definitely a draw isn't going to do them any good, they at that point not only needed to win, but to win with a good margin to be able to get ahead of their opposition.

It's even better the first game is played at your home and if you win you stand at the best advantage you can think of at that time because you wouldn't have to struggle away and like you rightly stated even a draw will be fine and so their struggle at this point reduce and the hosting team is now more at battle because even psychologically they will be under pressure to making sure not to concede a goal and also not to loose so the pressure is high when you are hosting the second game than when you host the first, you only become relaxed hosting the second only if you won the first with a good margin.

Xabi Alonso have no plans to exits Bayer Leverkusen yet, he's still building and have succeeded in carrying Leverkusen to their prime and they're currently top rival for Bayern Munich for the Bundesliga title. Perhapes there's rumors fast approaching of Xabi Alonso possible links to Real Madrid, he once played for Los Blancos and he can only fit so well to manage the club. Real Madrid is the best team in the world, they have the quality players, an experience coach that's capable of solving crucial matters and he's not leaving yet, there's still huge job to be done. Zinedine Zidane lifted Real Madrid to become one of the best and successful club in the European world of football. Today Real Madrid happen to be the dream club of most young players and big names also fighting their way through to be represented by the Real Madrid jersey on the pitch.

I think Xabi Alonso is amazing at Bayer Leverkusen. His job of building the team and positioning them as a Bundesliga challenger against Bayern Munich is excellent. I think hes in the right place now. Being linked to Real Madrid is natural given his connection with Los Blancos, but I think he should focus on Leverkusen. They could win the Europa League under his leadership, solidifying his status as a top coach.

Real Madrid, however, is different. Numerous fans consider them a fantasy team, founded by Zinedine Zidane. Managing such a club is appealing, but its a big step with unique problems. Alonso still has unfinished business at Leverkusen, so leaving now may not be ideal for his career. Why not win a trophy at Leverkusen first after demonstrating his worth?
