congrats to Sevilla, Roma had Mancini, and it was impossible for them to win with him last night

as expected under goals, although it could end up to be different, tough match and Sevilla had more possession, more will, and in the end were more concentrated during penalty shot-out, so 7th trophy is theirs, and CL spot, after pretty miserable season in La Liga, and almost a relegation zone at one point
Roma lost their chance on CL, Calcio is far, even with Juventus points deducted, so Mo will chase Europa or Conference crown next season (he actually had throw his medal in audience last night, disrespectful)
A very disappointing night for Roma because they just lost an opportunity to play in the Champions League next season. When Dybala got the goal in the 35th minute I knew it will be difficult for Sevilla to score because Roma have one of the best defenses and they lived up to expectations until the own goal by Mancini. Roma's performance in the penalty shootout was too poor as if they were not prepared for it.

I don't think Mourinho threw the silver medal to the spectators in a disrespectful manner. He actually gave it to a young Roma fan and it was emotional. And he received a commendation from the fans. The medal belongs to him and he has the right to give it to anybody he feels. That gift will remain indelible in the life of the young fan. And there are also rumors that it was a sign that he will be leaving Roma. Others are jokingly saying that Mourinho doesn't do silver.

This is Sevilla's 5th Europa League title in the last 10 seasons. This is just very impressive that's for sure. No matter they had an inexperienced manager like Mendilibar they still made it to the title. By saying inexperienced I mean that he doesn't have any experience with an above average team until this job. It is like Sevilla has built their mentality over becoming champions in the Europa League.  Grin

Roma were doing good in the first half but Sevilla were more effective in the second half. That's because of having a score advantage of course but Roma couldn't defend their goal for a long time. Mourinho tried to do his best to affect the referee decisions as usual.  Grin

That performance in the penalty shootout part by Roma was horrible though. Targeting the goalkeeper and goal post cost them too much. Montiel actually missed the penalty first by the way but he was lucky to repeat it due to encroachment.

It was one of longest games I ever saw, so much added time that it looked that game will never end. I kinda expected that game will go to extra time and penalties. And won my bet on over 1.5 goals. IMO, after goal they scored, Roma closed themselves in defense, but considering it's Mou team it's nothing surprising.
Sevilla was shit most of season, but Mendilibar who come to Sevilla just in March changed team. Most of career he managed weak and average Spnish team and now he is Europa league winner.

It's a season for Argentines to win trophies, both Acuna co has now won the Fifa World Cup and the Europa League Competition.
Gonzalo Montiel scored decisive penalty both in World Cup final and Europa league final. What a season for him and fellow Argentinians.

Sevilla qualified to CL to take 3rd place in group there and drop to Europa league, as usual Smiley. While Mourinho, there is guarantee that he will stay in Roma.

Unbelievable Sevilla win a record 7th UEFA Europa League title.  Seven out of seven finals in the Europa League incredible. This is just the beauty of football. This was a team that were at the doorstep of relegation some weeks ago. It was because of the redo that Montiel got a second chance. In the first shot Patricio left the line but VAR saw the encroachment allowed the redo and it's a penalty that's worth another major European trophy. Well, I would say that this is one time I commend the VAR. If it were in the past, maybe right now we would have been celebrating Roma.

I watched the game yesterday and i have to say i that as a neutral spectator i was very happy to see that FC Sevilla was able to win this trophy yet again. I just thought that AS Roma did not really deserve to win that trophy after they have played such a horrible style of football in the semi final against Bayer Leverkusen where they not only played extremely defensively. They have also wasted so much time there. That was very unfair and i am happy that such behaviour does not get them the title after all.
Yesterday was probably one of the longest final ever because of so many extra time, even in the overtime.

But this is Sevilla playground, so they will win, either by outright or PK.

You was correct bout the aspect of PK. ( Penalty Kick ) They're like Real Madrid whenever it comes to the Europa League Competition

Jose Mourinho threw the silver medal into the crowd as he has nothing to do with second place, I know how disappointed he'll be but at some points it's good to fail to learn.

Congratulations to Sevilla they did it once again, the Europa League is like them birth right nothing comes in between whenever they're in the competition.

I like Mourinho in general, dislike his tactics in general, but this one I think was poor show of him. I didn't watch the match, but the match reports tells a big story of what happened, however it is, both Sevilla and Roma, players and coaches, are plenty of drama people lol

Deserve to lose or not, if you cannot accept a loss, you should retire.

VAR was right, rules are rules. I know not all refs call for it but with trophy on the line, it's fair.

Good win Sevilla, see you in Champions League... again!

Roma were eliminated from the finals after losing 4-1 on penalties to Sevilla. After playing for 120 minutes and still having the scores level, it was a great match between these two teams. Sevilla has just won an unprecedented seventh Europa League title. Roma put up a decent fight, but they will need to put in a lot more effort to beat an experienced Europa League team like Sevilla next time.

God is great
After finishing 90 minutes and extra time both with a 1-1 score we are about to watch penalties to decide the winner. This situation isn't surprising at all because most people must have been waiting for a close score like this between these teams. Roma's goal with Dybala was really nice. He returned from injury and took his place in the lineup right away despite not playing for a couple of matches before this one. Maybe Rakitic targeted the goal post while trying to answer but Sevilla still found the equalizer later on.

Roma were nearly scoring a shocking goal in the final moments of extra time but their attempt hit the crossbar. Now let's see which side is calmer as for penalties. I still hope to see Roma becoming the champions.  Smiley

The game was very impressive and it was expected it will be a tough game for the both teams, the both team played very well and their performance just proved they were qualified to be the teams for the Europa finals. Sevilla has made again winning the europa league for the season,  this is very big achievement for them . Sevilla performance in laliga was not up to standard which deprived them to get to the top of the league, winning the europa league championship will qualify them for champions league in the next season .

Sevilla has won the Europa seven times in 18yrs, and Mourihno has just lost in Europa final in 20yrs. Sevilla's victory tonight has spoilt Mourinho's clean sheet in all finals he played in Europa. Sevilla deserves the trophy because they out smart Roma and took control of the match in the second half. Roma were already exhausted in the extra time and this shows that they can't play and stay strong for a very long time. Roma was very good in the first half and they had three good opportunities but Sevilla was not strong. For three consecutive years, the finals has ended in a penalty kick. Sevilla has qualified to UCL next season.

who will put their hand on CL spot, Sevilla or Roma, that is probably more important that simple Europa league trophy
Roma is in series, last year Conference, so this Europa league and next year CL Smiley
on the other hand, Sevilla is here at home, and even after miserable season, they are close to secure Conference league spot through La Liga, but CL spot through Europa league is much better feat

not sure what to think about winner, but expecting under goals
Obviously that is very important, there is no question if that's important or not and I agree that it's very important. But we shouldn't consider that as the most important part, winning the actual cup is also a very important thing. So if you offered a team "would you like to win europa cup this year and be in europa cup next year as well, or would you prefer losing europa cup finals but go to UCL next season" we can actually see the result.

I would prefer to stay in europa cup and win europa cup this season, winning a cup is always more important to me than being able to join UCL, just going there wouldn't mean anything anyway. So all in all I think it's quite important that they win this, and when they do, they will go to UCL as well anyway.

Holy moly camoly guys the final is today! I didn't even realize it I felt like it was supposed to be in June like CL but then I saw the news headlines and it's on.

Sevilla and Roma, and the sportsbooks are all like us, can't decide who is better, however Sevilla has slightly smaller odds but very very slight.

I want Roma for a nice story who won Conference last year, if they win Europa it will be like promotion via cups.

But this is Sevilla playground, so they will win, either by outright or PK.
Yeah, I also thought that Europa league final is on the same week as CL and Conference league.
Indeed, it's impossible to pick favorite in this game. Europa league is Sevilla playground, while Mourinho have never lost any UEFA tournament final when his managed team played in it. He won it with Porto, Inter, MU and Roma. I expect that this game will go to extra time and penalties maybe.

We have a huge final match ahead between Roma and Sevilla now. The finale is in Budapest and it is really hard to pick a side right now. Roma are doing amazing things with Mourinho's great work in the Europa League. Things aren't very well for them in the Serie A in terms of ending the season in top four. Hence it looks like they will have to win this finale to reach the Champions League as well.

The same thing is valid for Sevilla as well. They made a horrible start to the season and they experienced the danger of relegation for some time too. But now they are also putting their best effort into it to win the title. Sevilla might come one step forward in this due to being dominant in the tournament considering the past years.

However I believe in Mourinho more than Mendilibar in a big finale like this.

Maybe I don't understand football, but I just can't understand how it wasn't penalty in Sevilla - Juventus game? Again, Sevilla was better team, but with that penalty awarded they could have won without extra time. Though, can't say that Juve played bad.
Bayer - Roma, expected to see some goals scored, but Mourinho parked his bus at it's finest. You can love or hate Mou, but he reached second UEFA final in a row - last year Conference league and now Europa league

Leverkusen - Roma game was just completely one-sided. Mourinho didn't surprise me by preferring a fully defensive game in the second leg in Germany. I remember only one shot by Roma in the first minutes which wasn't even on goal and that's it. Leverkusen completely dominated the game as a result and had so many goal chances also. However most of these chances were wasted by bad shots.

Because Roma did one thing really great in this game which was to force their opponent for shots from outside the penalty area. Leverkusen's goal attempts were mostly that during the whole game. I remember only 3 shots which could have really resulted in a goal:

- Diaby's targeting the goal post
- Kerem's nice shot to the right corner which was saved amazingly
- Azmoun's nice attempt to the corner which was a close one

Roma are in the finale thanks to Mourinho's usual "park the bus" strategy.

Today in semfinal game between Sevilla - Juventus I'm backing Sevilla. They looked more solid on first leg and now they're playing at home. My pick for this game is Sevilla to qualify @1.73.
Bayer - Roma looks so difficult to predict, Roma having minimal advantage from 1st leg is factor, but it can disappear so quickly. Personally, I would prefer to see Roma in the final.
