United lol! Well, I think that is indeed the problem with Premier League teams. They underestimate all the opponents from other leagues who are not champions. If they play Real Madrid or Barca or maybe Atletico, then sure, they would respect them. But meet Villareal, meet Real Sociedad, and then they think 3 points is already in the bag and easy.

I do have to feel sorry though, the penalty was soooo soft
United losing to Real Sociedad is one of the best game I got to watch this week. United fans were over confident in the game as they were hoping to thrash their visitors but reverse was the case. Erik Ten Hag didn't use the necessary players needed to start games but it's clear obvious, they lost their first game in the Europa League. They're not different from Chelsea, mocking Blues who lost their first champions league game away to Dinamo Zegreb, saying it's small team which blues needed to win. For United, they fail to right that impression and it affected them in the game.
I would guess that the game was good enough for United too, they missed so many chances and they ended up losing in the end but they played well enough to actually consider themselves a great team too, like this wasn't a proof that they are still bad, they won 4 games in a row, they got back from bottom of the league all the way to higher levels.

Only obvious situation is that they lost 3-4 games Maguire played, and won all he didn't, that should be a key reason for it because he is seriously bad. I would sack him, not just remove him from the roster but literally fire him, and they make him the captain instead, that just doesn't make sense to me.

It was unexpected that United would lose. Because their performance was quite good in the last few matches. In this match, Ten Hag gave Ronaldo and Harry Maguire a chance to prove their mettle. But both players failed. Ronaldo and Maguire are unlikely to be retained by the Ten Hag in his squad. On the other hand, Chelsea's performance is weak. Liverpool, Chelsea and United will also be trailing in the Premier League title race this season.
I think Ten Hag provides an opportunity for Ronaldo and Maguire to play as starters because the Europa League is the right moment to rotate players so that some players in the first team can get a rest day and the players who are usually on the bench can get a chance to play. Well, the performance of the Man United players who were fighting against Sociedad it's not as good as the performance of the squad that is usually played in the Premier League. It could be because Maguire is there Grin, but for a reasonable reason, I think they really don't have the chemistry that the first team had.

He has to rotate to preserve his best squad at all cost, I wasn't impressed though, they did possessed Manchester United from first half.
The ball flow from behind was dull and poor, a quicker transition and flow of the ball came in to play during the second half of the game.
Harry Maguire should have been substituted, I care less if he is English or whatever but if Ten Hag wants to safe his job, then he should stop trusting the British player's.
Casemiro also, made wrong passes and was too dull, seems like a fatigued player. I'm not worried cause with them he'll get better and suits the team. Ronaldo ? I still don't know what's to be done for Ronaldo, Manchester United should focus bon younger players, yes Ronaldo bis the goat but he seems like a finished player, or Maybe enough chance's are not been created.

But in fact, even if I did not bet, I have long been dissatisfied with such garbage tournaments as the Nations League, the Europa League (most games before the quarter-finals), the Conference League (most games before the semi-finals), etc. (some national cups).

not sure where are you from, but for smaller countries, Europa league and especially Conference league are only chance to have European matches further to summer qualification rounds and I like it

althouh, I would like more to have Champions league with Champions only, because it is kind a ironic to have Champions league winner that is not a Champion in their respective country, what kind of Champion is that?
and Cup winners Cups, as before, where Cup winners in their countries are playing

now, all these (CL, EL, ECL) are played just for money, and it is important to have more matches on TV

Zurich 1 - 2 Arsenal  Angry

Given the fact that I bet on the victory of Arsenal with a handicap of minus one goal, I am not satisfied. The impression is like from a garbage game in a garbage competition. Arsenal in the starting lineup released one and a half players from the main squad - how can this be taken seriously? I understand that there are tournament strategies and passing games, but the group stage in the Europa League is clowning and nothing more.
You are not satisfied with the result of Arsenal 2-1 win because your bet on Arsenal win is with a handicap of minus one goal. Here you feel the disappointment, but not with Arteta and the Arsenal players, they are very satisfied with this result because they can bounce back after the defeat to Manchester United. Arsenal really need a win to restore the player's mentality, Arteta doesn't care about Arsenal winning score, the important thing is that Arsenal can win the game is enough to make Arteta heart happy.

Shocked Wow! You must be a telepath and could read my mind!  Grin

But in fact, even if I did not bet, I have long been dissatisfied with such garbage tournaments as the Nations League, the Europa League (most games before the quarter-finals), the Conference League (most games before the semi-finals), etc. (some national cups). The Premier League is considered the best league for the most part because there is the most intense struggle where both underdog and favorite plays until the 95th minute at the limit of his strength trying to score points. There is nothing similar in such tournaments. In fact, most of the games differ little from friendly ones. I am annoyed by this fact whether I bet or not.

Well, you wouldn't expect them to field a strong first 11 against an FC Zurich they probably thought wasn't that strong, would you?
It's all strategy at play, their biggest fight is in the Premier League and you want your team to be a fresh as possible if they are to beat the likes of Manchester City by points at the end of the season

Yeah, that's the fate of junk tournaments - they're made to save energy and let substitutes warm up  Cheesy
Even playing against Victoria Barcelona scores a lot of goals because Lewandowski is trying just for the sake of statistics and history. In junk tournaments, this is of no interest to anyone.

Manchester United didn't underestimate Real Sociedad in the game because United is still finding it difficult to win matches this season despite their recent three-straight wins in the EPL. United played very good football against Real Sociedad but the presence of a sharp striker that could penetrate the strong defense line of Real Sociedad was missing in the game and Ronaldo was unable to break the wall of Sociedad's defense. I believe the challenge wasn't the team they played against but the set of players that were selected to start the first half there wouldn't be a different player if United didn't play against a team like Real Sociedad.

The penalty kick that was taken by  Brais Mendez was a fantastic one but it seems like the Referee wasn't watching the game at some point because I was expecting him to award a penalty to United in the also but that didn't happen.

Why would the underrate a team that is better than them, but for me I don't see it like that, I don't think Manchester United underrate  Real Sociadad in that fixture last night, United played well, they would have done more in scoring goals because they are playing at home but if you consider how they perform against Brentford and Brighton in the premier League this season you will know they have improved but they need to do better, but lot of players that has improved the side didn't start the game, players like rashford,Sancho and Martinez were all at the bench.

United tried their best to get back to the game but Real Sociedad made their defense so formidable. One of the issue united had was inaccurate passes from the midfield to the forward on few ocassions. It was either too short to get through or too fast to catch up with. But Manu defense was a bit ok even with Maguire at the starting ix.

The penalty shoot out was sweet but United were denied theirs

United looked a bit off tonight while not being able to score at home against Real Sociedad. Ronaldo did start but didn't look great up front while missing a chance, he only had 2 shots and both were off target. It is crazy how things have turned for him. I guess its all psychological.
On the whole, they didn't play an entirely bad football yesterday, it was more of hardback for them and some due to Harry Maguires influence. I mean, its no pleasure for any one to play under a bad captain. After putging in all your best, in one wrong move from the captain, a lot could be messed up and so is all your efforts. This makes it difficult for the players to put in there best and its also difficult for Maguire to talk to the players as his the one making most of the errors but, its different while Bruno Fernández  captains the team.

Ronaldo could be said to begoing through hard times as, his not in his champions league competition no more, his attempts to leave the team was frustrated and he played from the bench which is so unusual for an elite player like him.

United played well last night and only badluck made the game to end with Sociedad victory because without that penalty , Sociedad had almost 0 chances to score but why didn't United score ? they had great chances , they have great players and the game was in their favor so maybe just an unfortunate night overall for United ?

Meanwhile , Arsenal looks like they are super ready this year to have a long campaign into Europa League so reaching semi-finals should be a thing to reach.

I really don't understand how Trabzonspor can play this much poorly. They had a huge opportunity to win after Ferencvaros got a red card in the 16th minute already. However Ferencvaros scored two more goals after the red card. And it would have been even worse as they wasted many more chances. Trabzonspor normally have a much better squad than them but their recent form has been really bad. This must have played a big role in this 3-2 loss. If their third goal wasn't disallowed due to offside they would have got one point at least. I didn't understand what Trezeguet was doing in the last minute also. He chose to turn back instead of whipping a cross and the referee finished the match after that.

This can't go on for Trabzonspor like this. They aren't joining this tournament for the first time. Ferencvaros have been an in-form team these days but normally they are not a team that Trabzonspor can't defeat.

Hate to say this but United were the better team last night really. If not for some close offsides, hesitance from Ronaldo (old CR7 would first time 3 of his chances but he took a second too long), and a poor penalty call (I hate those hand ball nonsense I know intent is no longer part of the decision but surely a deflection and natural hand positions still count).

PSV ruined my betting day, with a Bodo draw
not sure why, but really expected them to win

They also ruined me, I had Bodo to win, I just find Dutch teams totally suspect, except for Ajax (who, even so, are one of the flimsiest squads when it comes to crunch time).

Meanwhile, Manchester United just lost to Real Sociedad
I wouldn't say I was quite surprised with the results for Manchester United I think the coach already has only one squad and doesn't know how to properly rotate the players yet. Ronaldo still failed to score his first goal of the season regardless of him starting today.

After the game, a Manchester United supporter on my whatsapp, came to my DM to argue about the penalty that was awarded saying that it was not a penalty and they were robbed. I don't see how true that is, because it was double checked by VAR and I'm certain the officials had their reasons for awarding it. Plus Manchester United could have equalised if the they had played really well and made use of their opportunities, the credibility of the penalty would not have come up as a topic for debate.

Congratulations Arsenal, a well deserved victory.

Manchester United, haven't played a nice game this season, though they might have won three matches on a row, but if you take a good look at those matches you will observe that their pattern of play is very poor, cause they easily loose the ball, and they always allow their opponent to gain the possessions, And that's a really poor performance from them. To me loosing to Real sociedad is not a coincidence, cause the team Haven't being in a better shape this season, they're not well organized, and I think the coach really needs to act fast.

I certainly expected that Ludogorets would fight Roma and could score at least one goal, but I did not believe that they would win... I do not understand how Roma could lose to an outsider with the not best game statistics in this match... Probably Ludogorets will have a very hard time in the return match in Rome, but I guess they still have a chance to win...

Sometimes things like this can happen in the first leg and the determination is in the second leg Besides, Rome is only behind 1 goal it's not a difficult thing
We still remember Roma last season was the champion of the conference league and this season their squad is better so I don't doubt Roma.
By the way Manchester United also lost 0-1 vs Sociedad well this is a bit surprising even though Man United play at home.

Was a nice performance from arsenal earlier today, they start their Europa League adventure with a win and what amaze me more is how they played after resting key players like Gabriel Jesus, saka, odegard, Zincheko, and white this players are key to the way arsenal play but still they did very well and young players like manquihos and Nketial even get into the scores sheet, I think Mikel Arteta is doing a good job there and the players are buying into his idea, with the right transfers next season,I think arteta will have a team to challenge the likes of city and Liverpool for titles.
