That's a good thing.  I hope more people will bet on the 'fan favorite' Wonderboy Thompson so that the lines move giving Woodley more value.  I have already made a bet on him at 2.09 and I will bet more if I see his line move higher.  Thompson choked in the first fight, this time he's saying he'll let go and strike away.  That will open him up for mistakes that Woodley can exploit.
Tyron woodley is not getting the respect as a champion and so is the reason he is frustrated and he might take that out against Wonderboy in this match and i have not seen any champion being an underdog, no wonder he is complaining  Smiley. What i understand is that no one appreciates Tyron is simply because he fought for the title after coming off a split decision victory over Kelvin Gastelum and for over a year he did not fight and got the opportunity to fight for the title while  Demian Maia and Thomson were riding more win streaks and deserved the title shot than Woodley at that time.

I see Thompson winning the fight.
Chris Weidman is Stephen Thompson's brother in law. Thompson's brother is married to Weidman's sister. Weidman and Thompson are close and train in the same gym.
I think Thompson seeing Chris Weidman be stopped by that knee Yoel Romero hit him with earlier in the night, put him off his game.
Woodley also seems unfocused on the fight. He's talking about being discriminated against and being treated unfairly, his focus seems everywhere except on Thompson and the fight.
One of the lamest excuses i have heard in my life  Cheesy If you think Stephen Thomson lost because he saw Romero knocking Weidman, then you wont see Thomson winning ever again as he will have another excuse for another loss. Tongue

In the case of Woodley, he's just trying to get attention.  I don't necessarily see him distracted at any point of his preparation.  Many people seem to underrate him but he's actually the smarter fighter compared to Thompson.  I can see Woodley winning via KO this time around.
The problem with Woodley is that he is not a fan favorite because he is not having good connection with the fans,he thinks it is because of his color. If he was more funny and jovial he will be getting more fans rather than crying about it. Smiley

Lol what are you talking about??  The Weidman loss put Wonderboy Thompson off his game?  Please stop.  They are professional fighters, nothing like that will affect their game.  They're used to it and see winning and losing as part of the sport.  Unless it was a death in the family or something really damn serious, then yes I would agree that it would affect them a lot.

Wanna get pumped for UFC 209?  Watch this extended preview of the event.  I guess this will be the UFC's biggest fight this year unless McGregor comes out and fights earlier than planned.  Another bigger event could feature, possibly on late 2017, Jon Jones vs the winner of the Cormier vs Rumble Johnson bout.

Watch that and get pumped.  The wait is almost over.  Wink

That is the problem with analysts sometimes. They always look at the past without considering that a fighter's experience will change him and make him better. After that fight look where Tyron is now. He beat Carlos Condit and Robbie Lawler, 2 of the best in the welter weight division. He arguably beat Wonderboy in their 1st fight.

@ bbc.reporter the main reason i think is that the skill set and performance of wonderboy Thompson is impressive and he was considered the future champion and his only set back was against Matt Browne and that too in 2012 while in the case of Tyron Woodley his performance against Rory MacDonald was not that impressive as Rory shut him up for almost the entire fight and so everyone expects Wonderboy to out perform Woodley.

@ SaShiRaJaVu. I corrected my post. I meant at welter weight.

In the case of the Tyrone Woodley there are many critics and pundits who say that he is not really that good. Look at the odds between him and Wonderboy. Tyrone's odds is showing that he is still the underdog. If his odds continue to go down my bet is for him.

He just announced it on his Twitter account. Perhaps he is having difficulty making weight as a result he lost 2 straight bout  that why he has decided to moved up in weight.
Also maybe he think the light weight division has easier competition in the top 5. The top 5 excluding the champion at this moment are Wonderboy, Robbie Lawler, Demian Maia, Carlos Condit and Cowboy Cerrone.
Carlos Condit is going to retire soon and Cowboy Cerrone is not as good as he looks so that leaves 3 tough fighters for Rafael to face.
Another scenario would be maybe he wants Conor to fight him at welter weight.
If that is the case he was fighting at light weight and now moved to welter weight .That is a good assessment, welter weight division lacks world class competition apart from the champ ,wonderboy and Maia, condit will be retiring pretty soon and Rory MacDonald left UFC, and may be that is the reason Rafael Dos Anjos moved up,i would like to see Ben Askren coming to the UFC as he is the best WW outside the UFC.

Eddie Alvarez was never considered a fighter in the level of the guy he beat, Rafael dos Anjos. I was surprised Eddie knocked him out easily in that match. Many people would say that Rafael dos Anjos would give Conor a harder time than what Eddie did. Too bad Rafael has moved on to welterweight. Him versus Conor would have been a good fight.
Eddie Alvarez was considered as the underground king and the best fighter outside the UFC for a very long time ,Rafael Dos Anjos would definitely be a difficult match for Conor Mcgregor without any doubt and Dos Anjos is really unlucky to miss the fight agains Mcgregor due to injury and he missed a big pay out and then he lost the belt which was a bit harsh and then he lost against Tony Ferguson but i didnt know that he moved to welterweight, where did you hear that.

Tyron Woodley vs. Stephen Thompson, this match is going to be an interesting one as their New York bout was one the best fights i have seen for a title.
Tony Ferguson vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov ,With Connor Mcgregor taking a long break it is good to have a fight for interim lightweight title because i am not sure Connor is interested in defending his belts in the UFC and he is interested to fight Mayweather now .  Roll Eyes
Mark Hunt vs. Alistair Overeem, this is another huge fight for Mark Hunt after the loss against Brock Lesnar and now he is suing UFC as well as Brock for the failed drug test i do not know how things will wind up for him.

@eaLiTy. I can imagine how Conor Mcgregor could use psychological warfare and trash talk his way into Khabib Nurmagomedov's head. He needs to do that to gain a psychological advantage over Khabib. Khabib is the better fighter clearly on the ground and someone who could probably take Conor's punches.

Conor is a smart fighter he knows he needs a better game plan prefight and during the fight. If Nate was a big challenge for him, Khabib will prove to be more.
No one could defeat Conor Mcgregor in trash talking unless and untill you are Nick or Nate Diaz  Cheesy and Khabib will be at a disadvantage in that aspect without any doubt as he is not fluent in english ,what surprised me is that Nate Diaz was a bigger challenge for Conor but he smoked Eddie Alvarez just like that with ease,Khabib will be a different challenge for Conor and who ever faced Khabib knows his ground strength.

I don't know why they're hyping Ferguson vs Khabib so much.
UFC will be pushing Khabib Nurmagomedov as they are planning to reach the Russian market and just think about a title match between Conor Mcgregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov in Russia it would be massive and it can fill any big soccer stadiums without any doubt and will break PPV records.

To tell you the fact Tony Ferguson and khabib Nurmagomedov are the best fighters in the world and khabib Nurmagomedov is an undefeated MMA  fighter with 24 wins which is really rare other than Jon Jones and Tony Ferguson is on a 9 fight winning streak and his last loss was against Michael Johnson but Tony has improved a lot after the fight and these are the fighters they have to hype.
To defeat Khabib Nurmagomedov Tony Ferguson has to come up with a different style. The only person who can trouble Khabib right now is Connor Mcgregor as he is really difficult to be taken down and he is very good at stand up which is the only weakness i see in Khabib. If he was injury free he would have being a champion long back and hope the injury bug wont hurt him further.

I don't know why they're hyping Ferguson vs Khabib so much.  According to the news their stare down after the press conference for 209 was 'intense'.  But the video showed anything but.  It was ok.  One fighter was trying to taunt the other but it wasn't intense.  Woodley and Thompson also stared down but tried to keep it friendly.
