We have two title fights in this card, it is really hard to predict the outcome as i want to see the betting lines,Amanda Nunes is the clear favorite but Shevchenko is the only fighter in the division who can give her a good battle,Rober Whittaker is young and fast and that might create some problems for Romero as he is a slow starter.

@tokeweed It is not about having the perfect knowledge ,you really cannot do the math when it comes to fighting because a single mistake could end up in a loss,it all depends upon the mentality of the fighter, the confidence level plays an important factor in deciding the winner and a losser, every fighter in the UFC has specialized skill set,be it in the ground or in the stand ups ,the sport might be evolving but the basics remains the same for centuries only the athletic ability changes with every fighter.

Here's the thing tho, you can all give your simplistic view of how it can all pan out, but I'd say that's a mistake.  The fighters are always evolving, the sport also keeps evolving, if you say something without any regard of the present and base everything all on what occurred in the past, then you're like just following without any thought because you think you already have 'perfect knowledge'.

The point is does Nunes really have that problem coming in this match, this time around?  Sure one can argue she has a 'weak' gas tank, my argument is fighters adapt and evolve.  Nunes knows where she's weak and what needs to be worked on and work and train hard on that.  She's a champ, there's a reason why she's up there.  She def won't be going in there octagon with a 'weak' gas tank.
If you look at the record of Amanda Nunes she has four losses and only one went to the decision the rest two is TKO losses and one loss on the ground,in her last fight against Valentina Shevchenko she dominated the first two rounds and when she could not finish her and Shevchenko fought her when she went to the ground and in the third round she took the fight to Nunes and the bell saved Nunes ,if not she could have finished her.Look at the record of Valentina Shevchenko, look at her kick boxing record and she has two wins as a professional boxer and in her fight against Holly Holmes she was the better striker and that too against a world class boxer,so if Nunes is not able to finish her in the first two rounds then it is going to be a long night. Have you seen Amanda Nunes fight with Cat Zingano in 2014? Amanda Nunes had serious cardio issues in that fight.

Two years later in 2016, Nunes showed the same cardio issues when she fought Shevchenko in a 3 round fight.

Sometimes, if they have years to fix a problem & can't fix it. It never gets fixed.

BJJ Scout has some of the breakdowns I've ever seen. Here's one he did of Nunes vs Ronda that is good.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3WhOryZ_OY

I hope he does one of Shevchenko vs Nunes but looks like he's been busy doing other things.

@ tokeweed , the problem with gas tank and stamina is,you cannot generate stamina in a month or two,you can just improve a bit,but it is all genetics, you either have it or you dont ,a sprinter cannot run a marathon ,it is how the body is built ,all they can do is minimize the movement and reserve the energy to last five rounds.

Again, it's an overused argument.

The great thing about MMA is: we're going to find out whether its an overused argument or not.  Wink

It might be fair to say many fighters never fix their weaknesses. Ronda never fixed her boxing. Paul Daley didn't fix his takedown defense as Rory MacDonald showed. Jon Jones is still trying to fix his substance abuse issues. Johny Hendricks is still struggling with his weight cutting issues, etc.

Did Amanda Nunes fix her cardio? I don't think she did. But we will see.

Again, it's an overused argument.  And there's also an argument for Nunes not needing a 'good as tank' since Shev doesn't pressure her opponents that much (or at all) at the first couple of rounds.  Nunes could play it smart and avoid wasting too much energy.  She was throwing wild, telegraphed kicks and punches, and moved around a lot in the first fight.  No need to move around too much, as Shev has most of her weight at the back leg.

All the talk of a fighter's 'gas tank' not being able to last two or three rounds have been an overused argument.  Don't you think the fighters know this and try to improve on it?  Of course they do.  Sometimes we make the mistake in thinking they don't evolve as martial artists.

Yeah. The gas tank argument is most valid when pinpointing the cause of cardio issues.

Ex: Overeem carried too much muscle mass to have the cardio to last 3 rounds in his previous fights.

In Amanda Nunes case, I'm not certain what the cause of her cardio issues are.

Nunes has had cardio issues since 2014 when she fought Cat Zingano.

Nunes fighting Valentina in 2016 showed she still had not fixed her cardio troubles.

If Nunes couldn't fix her cardio in the 2 years from 2014-2016 its possible she still hasn't fixed it.

Shevchenko is a multi talented fighter and one of the well rounded fighters in women's division and if she could get Nunes to the third round then she will take the belt from her.

Nunes gas tank doesn't last more than 2 rounds.

I think you have a valid point there.

Seeing Yoel Romero dominate Chris Weidman in wrestling/grappling aspects of their fight was almost magical. Will be cool to see what he can do with Whittaker although Yoel's gas tank, like Nunes, is also in question.

Really looking forward to this card.   Smiley

Have Fun )@@( Stay Safe
With the Conor McGregor Mayweather showdown announcement and the heavy stacked UFC 2014,i think this fight card is not getting that much attention from the media nor do i see much promotions from UFC either, more matches have being scrapped from this card too,Donald Cerrone will miss out because of injury,we still have two championship fights and two former champions fighting in this card. Will predict after seeing the weigh ins.

Surprise surprise!  Oh how the crowd is fickle.  The lines opened with Nunes as the slight favorite at 1.86 or something with Shev at over 2.00.  I just checked the lines today at Nitrogen and I was pretty surprised to see Nunes at even money and Shev as the slight fave at 1.89.

Easy bet on Nunes.

I was hoping for Whitaker to be the underdog again, but sadly he's at 1.80.

And what happened to Lawler vs Cerrone?  Meh.

Anyway it's time to study and watch as much past fights as you can before making some bets.  Enjoy!  Wink

Yoel could look good simply from clean living and taking care of himself.
I got Shevchenko winning the main event. Excited for this one.
I am a big time Yoel Romero fan because of his world class wrestling and his athletic ability,if not for his cardio i would rate him the best ever in the division,i seriously would like to see him fight Daniel Comier in a wrestling match and would like to see who will win the bout.

@bbc.reporter Yoel Romero might be old ,but let me ask you one things, how many 39 year old individuals do you know who looks trimmed and shaped like Romero with a drug testing policy with USADA and he is a big start in the amateur wrestling circuit and is considered as a legend by many people, these things are more than enough for people to favor Yoel Romero and by the way the kick landed by Romero was not a lucky punch, just check the fight carefully and how he planned that well and even in youtube someone made a video on how Romero was planning that with faints in earlier rounds.

I'm not certain about Yoel.

A lot of MMA fighters overindulge in alcohol, do drugs & don't take care of their bodies.

People who abuse their bodies that way would probably never look as good as Yoel does at age 39.

Yoel could look good simply from clean living and taking care of himself.

I got Shevchenko winning the main event. Excited for this one.

Hey guys, here a little something to get you excited for UFC 213.  Krach mentioned that he's for Shev in this fight.  I'm kinda with him, this fight could be closer than what's expected.  The hype train is all Nunes right now after stopping Rousey.  Knowing that, get ready to get in on Shev, her line could go up anytime now.

Enjoy the video.  Smiley

Ok but for now we just have to see how he performs against Robert Whitaker. I am only saying that Yoel might now be overrated because of his spectacular win versus Chris Weidman, which could be true depending on the outcome of his next fight.

@thejaytiesto. Unless Dominick does something new and develops more strength in his punches the winner of that rematch would still be Cody. Cody knows what Dominick will do before he makes the move.
