Anyone still haven't made any picks: Zhu Rong (or Rong Zhu) didn't make weight so the bout will be catchweight. It's only 2 pounds over but what are your guys' take on that? Good or bad for him?

Personally, I think it's barely an advantage, and, if you believe the guy tried to lose weight, then he'll be weaker, plus slightly demotivated for losing a cut of his purse already. But that's my non-MMA brain talking.

As far as most matches are concerned, either boxing, karate, judo, MMA, UFC, etc. the one that always has the advantage is those who gained weight during training compare to trying to catch weight by reducing or diet.

Referring to Zhu Rong, a bit of over 2-5 pounds shouldn't be a problem because after all in the actual match, they are weighing about over 10 pounds.

@buwaytress. It might not make a difference unless he is very dehydrated, however, we cannot know this unless you can call the fighter’s coach or manager hehehe. Also, he might have the advantage because his opponent is only a replacement. His original opponent is Dakota Bush according to the other UFC prediction thread.

Might as well put in your selections on the UFC challenge this weekend available:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/sportsbetio-ufc-fight-night-192-multi-master-challenge-18921-new-rules-5360172

Because from the way these bouts look, it can go either way as the odds you just posted show this to be true.

Yeah okay, just made my bets. Again going with the underdogs, but they're both actually not even 25/10 at most bookies that I can see so I feel comfortable taking on both.

So Clark Devin @2.26 and Ryan Spann @2.50 are what I managed to settle on, not bad odds and even bets almost on both. Least there's something other than football for me to lose money on this weekend...

Looks like Smith Vs Span is on this weekend after all.
The cards are available here:
https://sportsbet.io/sports/mma/ufc/ufc-fight-night-smith-vs-spann/matches

Span was my pick but the bookies are going with Smith being the favorite, so it should be a good main event.

Nice one buwaytress on your solid win for taking the winner of the UFC fight night this past weekend.
I missed it due to being out of anywhere with reliable reception enough to watch any of the fights for this one.
Feel free to post any you happen to win for them.

As for here, I will be abit more focused on the bigger events of the UFC as they pertain to title fights going forward with this thread.
UFC 266 is with Ortega vs Volkanovski and Shevchenko vs Murphy.
These two main cards are going to be fire! Cool

September 25 couldn't come any sooner.

Ortega vs Volkanovski could be a banger, but I am not leaning towards Ortega, Alex seems to be a bit more well-rounded. Sure, there should be a huge difference between them on the ground, especially when Ortega is on his back, but Alex has been training with Craig Jones so he could have picked up some leg attacks.

I enter this week pretty safe in my martingale conviction from last week, resetting one side for a big Spivak upset (which I also caught at very good odds, 3.20) and doubling down on Brunson for just over 2/1.

Anyone want to share an easy tip (2/1 and above only, please, haha).

My martingale continues and I split it into two matches, picking Gilbert Ubina at 2.5 and Giga Chikadze at a solid 2.0.

And one of them hit indeed (Chikadze), a nice doubler, so I can now safely "reset" my starting wager on the one hand, but then I have to double down yet again as Ubina lost (oops). No worries, I still can withstand 3 more losses on one hand (this is starting to feel like playing two blackjack hands now haha).

That is all it comes down to when we are talking about these fight nights and for the UFC in general.
A gut feeling.
You put your money down on who you imagine will win hoping that pick ends it early and it doesn't come down to a judges decision. Because those can be really askewed from what everybody else has seen watching the exact same fight. Cheesy
In the main event for this weekend I do like Barboza from what I have seen in the past fight from him.
So will go with him on this one. Sorry Buywaytress.

No kidding. Think you also mentioned about going all the way bets and looking for value so yeah I might also do a few if I see main events hit streaks of early fights;)

Have a good feeling at least one should hit! Not from research, naturally. Just pure, unadulterated, gut feeling.

Next fight night is just around the corner with Barbosa taking on Chikadze.
The main lines are up so put in your bets before the matches start Saturday.

Had a few wins, went the other way with Cannonier as it looked like he could go farther from how his past matches had proven.
Didn't realize before the fight he was on a layoff for so long but so was Madsen tending to his own family problems.
This only shows a heart of a champ to comeback still be in form and to last a full 4 or 5 rounds not losing a tick in their stride.

The biggest highlight of the night was Ignacio Bahamondes KO of Roosevelt Roberts.
With only 5.5 seconds left of the match left he did an amazing spin kick to end the fight. If he didn't do that, he definitely would of lost the fight.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hseMQnF5h8Q

I was surprised he could still see him bleeding from both eyes to land that match ending kick.

That's the first step of my underdog Martingale down the drain ha! Match went all the way though, so it was a close and hard-fought win, as Cannonier admitted. Would have might have gone the other way if even half of Gastelum's early efforts connected but there we have it.

Winner hadn't played for ten months I read... said he was almost broke. Tough lives to lead for these fighters...

You guys bagged good wins?

After last week's break, I'm ready to throw the dice again. Not sure if I mentioned before but going to run out a small bankroll of martingaling on UFC underdogs. I'm able to last a 5-match losing streak, and if I bust, well, it would have been fun.

So in that spirit, have taken Gastelum on a straight ML bet. Just over 2/1 so am a bit disappointed he's not rated less ha ha.

Not too sure if doing a martingale strategy would work for the UFC.
Have never tried if but it you were to try, then it would need to be on selective matches and not on every single match one right after the other.
Where I have found success is betting on the favorites for the match right before the main event and underdogs for the main event.
As you can see this strategy did not for the last UFC. But can be better for the fight nights as the judge's decision usually dictate how those fights go and not how good the fighter actually is.

Kind of expected that as soon as I bet on the underdog, I miss out;) It was just the one bet though, adding my losing streak on UFC but I feel like I'm going to go martingale on UFC underdog, after this, doubling my bets until I win back everything. At this rate and considering max bets, I could probably last another 4 or 5 losing streaks. Easy right?
