Hi folks...

From reading your discussions and trying to understand them... Wink

I think the presstab explorer sounds like the best option, considering POS specific features...

As I can't really help with the programming/computer side of things, am willing to set up a D/D to pay for these if that is the option we all want to take.

Cheers,

Thanks Alenevaa - I have edited my post above.

Did you contact http://www.presstab.pw/phpexplorer/index.php to get the price of $7/month?

Cant see that mentioned anywhere on the site.

Checked it out - its awesome really with hashrate, staking info and more.

Take this eg for HBN
http://www.presstab.pw/phpexplorer/HBN/index.php

it does a lot more than a block explorer with hasrate, POW/POS, market cap, difficulty, richlist, market info, and 6 types of blockchain search etc

If they set it up for free and charge $7/mo its a very good deal indeed.

Not great company amongst the other coins listed but we can link directly to the UTC Dashboard.  This is a truly innovative service.  My favourite so far.

Cheers - usukan

Thanks Alenevaa - yes agree.  Not worth it considering Chainz offer.

Cheers usukan

I've just reviewed https://chainz.cryptoid.info/
It has so many coins so ultracoin will fade among them.

As we are talking about paid services:

1. I like the Coinplorer
It has more recognizable set of coins. I know about it as coinplorer has YACoin explorer.
I don't know how much does it cost.

2. Another place is Presstab.pw
At least it has some unique features for PoS coins.
Quote
Specializing in Proof of Stake analysis, we provide a first-of-its-kind platform to see what addresses are staking, the stake weight of each stake, the annual stake rate, and more.
And it cost less then chainz (7$/mo)

An urgent priority is a block explorer for Ultracoin.

there are a number of options:

...

https://github.com/stolendata/rpc-ace (I like this lite version) - https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.13169545 (reduced hosting resource)

but we need someone to build/setup and to host with hardware and maintain (reboot/resync etc)

We could get one set up by a volunteer - OR PAY
but we still need a hosting resource

Of course we could pay to get one set up and pay for hosting/maintenance - but I think thats not realistic at present.

Emerge - are you possibly able to provide a hosting resource? Is anyone else in the community able to provide the hosting hardware etc and maintain?

Does anyone in the community know enough coding to set up a block explorer from the Githubs above?

I think the option we need to look at is:
  • Volunteer setting up block explorer
    Volunteer hosting and maintaining
Any community members have any ideas or offers?

Thanks usukan

I've reviewed RPC Ace Version 0.8.0. It's really lite version of explorer. It doesn't have address lookup (IMO the most demanded feature).

Is it worth it?

I have a reply from Chainz on the UTC block explorer - very positive.

From "fairglu" at Chainz
---------------------------------------------------------------
Hi,

I ask for a contribution to hosting costs of $55 for 6 months, though you have a fast chain which is already large and grows faster than usual, so I may have to raise future monthly hosting a bit compared to other explorers (will depend on how large and how fast it actually grows)

Let me know if you are interested!

Alenevaa has suggested these services

I don't know how much does it cost.

2. Another place is Presstab.pw

usukan says - I'm interested in Presstab.pw for the POS analysis and the other full features they offer..........

Comments please community

Hi bathrobehero

Yes chainz may be a very good option indeed.  Really its not that expensive if the setup cost is included in the fees stated.

from their site:
What is required to host an Explorer here?
We require a client wallet with a Bitcoin-compatible RPC API, that can be compiled from source code (preferably on github or similar) and that will run under Debian 7 (does UTC wallet satisfy these?)

We may also currently ask for a contribution to hosting costs, as servers hosting the wallet daemons are our major source of expenses.
Currently, we prefer to host the daemon ourselves for reliability reason, both so we know what code the daemon is running and to ensure good uptime.

I have contacted Chainz (fairglu) and asked cost and specific requirements for UTC from our Github.

Yes good point about the contest - that is an important rule that should be in place (and will be shortly) - don't want thousands of guesses in the last moment.  I will amend and - 1 vote per member too.

Great list of nodes too.

Thanks - usukan

Chainz which I think is the best block explorer costs $55 for 6 months or $100 for a year AFAIK.

But of course repairing tumblingblock is probably the best option.

When is the deadline submitting entries for the Ultracoin guess contest? Is it tied to a date or a price maybe (e.g. no more entries after 1000 sats)?

Hi Roister - now thats the kind of spirit we need to get back here at UTC.  Your strong support is duly noted and greatly appreciated.

I have contacted Chainz for details and requirements based on our Github resource.  When "fairglu" gets back from Chainz I will let the community know what we have to do.

I'm sure we can get a few here to donate towards the maybe $100 for a year.

Thanks usukan

Hi folks...

I am more than prepared to stump up for the first six months/12 months for the block explorer if that is all it costs, or put something towards it if anyone else wants to contribute. Have no idea how to go about sorting it though!

Such an important issue as this needs to be resolved asap...

Cheers,

Hi tsjaar

Cryptsy opened their wallets for a few ALTs but they ran out pretty quick.  They only opened wallets that they had working.  Ones that were "under maintenance" never got opened (this included UTC).

Cryptsy never upgraded to the latest UTC wallet.  They have no staff now and will never upgrade.

So I don't think we will see our UTC ever again unless they pop up in China

Cheers - usukan

I know about their problems, but they opened other wallets for withdrawal..

W've been here before; freshmarket, crypto-trade, mintpal. They dit return some UTC, so I'm still a tiny little percent hopefull  Tongue

Hi tsjaar

You obviously have not heard that Cryptsy is gone - never to return.  They are insolvent and under investigation on theft, fraud and money laundering maybe more.
Its extremely unlikely that anyone will get some or any of their coins back - including UTC, even if Cryptsy updated the UTC wallet.

Hi Pugman - the staking works fine (staked a wallet yesterday)

best you check these things

Have you got the current wallet version
Current wallet UTC
v0.7.4.1-g-9-g23ef1a4-beta

download here
http://ultracoin.net/dl/UltraCoinQT_win32_v7.4.1-9.zip

Is the wallet synced?

How many connections does it have after say an hour?

Report your staking weight - and expected time to reward.

If its say more than 5 mins - you probably will not compete with other stakers.  If its a matter of seconds or a minute or two you should get a stake.  I don't know how it works but thats what happens.

I only connect up once a month to stake otherwise I'm wasting time.

Cheers - usukan

Haven't been able to stake since 31st Jan - please help . . . coincidentally that's when the 'management team' vanished!

my guess is 3rd September

ICO? Not even once.

Also, more nodes:

addnode=utc.yacoin.club:3413

Please don't use this port (3413) for wallet. It's only for stratum.

Sorry, but it seems that's the only port that actually connected.

off topic maybe - but don't transfer any BTC until the mempool clears.  Its absolutely overloaded at present and transactions may take a day or more unless you specify very high fees.

https://tradeblock.com/bitcoin/

I have never seen it this bad - all blocks are full - and the mempool just keeps growing - over 2.9M BTC at present - its out of control.

Must be Blockstream overloading things to push Core over Classic - but it might backfire if thats the case.
