I'm on v.0.9.5.0  = "subver" : "/Unobtanium:0.9.5/"

Is Unobtanium:0.9.5.9 causing the 'WARNING update nodes'?
This leaves me unable to sync.  Peers = 8

I'm not sure what this means?  I have 0.9.5.0... but, that appears to be the current version on http://www.unobtanium.uno./ ?

I'm currently only using cold storage but left UNO QT open today.

Yes I was wondering the same, is  that a warning, upgrade, question, or something else?

Campers, my knowledge of mining is next to none. But I have come to trust the judgement of this mining-knowledgeable community (and Ian agrees). If the consensus is to MM, then MM it shall be!

@sirsmokesalot I think the record would show that most of the discussion about MM took place on BCT even before BW weighed in.

Given the falling reward and relatively low hash, this is a decision I fully support. I'm glad that our early miners have have had the opportunity to mine most of the Uno from a 1 Uno block reward down to .03125.  Long term, mm makes the most sense to me to secure the blockchain. There is no reason Uno shouldn't continue to thrive under MM.
Miners like Rav3n have been a huge part of our community. I hope they'll continue to hold their Uno investment, and invest in Uno in other profitable ways. Their contribution to Uno is and has been hugely appreciated. But it's not fair over the long term to ask them to step up their investment in mining hardware/electricity while the block reward is about halve to .015625, and then will halve again later this year.

I totally get what is being said about the coin losing identity when it becomes the byproduct of mining for btc, or what ever coin a coin chooses to merge with for that matter. It is hard to lose something you never had. If Uno was trying to replace, or run alongside of bitcoin, or any other run of the mill cryptos that exist out there, then the fears of people dropping off from the coin are founded. I don't think that is the path that is being taken though.

Plenty of other coins to use out there for transactions, try holding them for over a year and see where you wind up then ;P

Uno has always struggled with what it is. It is one of the handiest digital tools out there for storing some wealth. Nope, not going to become rich over night, this isn't some scam coin, buy into them if that is how you wanna roll. Not going to go broke over night either, well hopefully not but i suppose anything is in the realm of possibility. The better the distribution of the coin, the less likely the market is to tank.

I would place bets that most people are here to try to make money. They will most likely follow what ever is most profitable while trying to support what they believe in. It is only logical. Uno is awesome but we need to make sure the chain keeps running. If you are trying to mine your way to Uno riches; you missed that ship, it sailed a while ago. Such is life. That is the reality of things. The amount of hash on uno now is peanuts with all the sha equipment out there.. merging is the only solution. Merging may or may not hurt the coin, not merging is going to hurt the coin.

I really think it will help boost the security aspects of the coin. Harder to 50% it? The chain is what is important. Merging increases the spread of distribution and creates liquidity in the markets as people who don't want it will be more than willing to sell it to people who do.

To be fair BW was being a wiener about things and refusing to use these forums so a lot of that merged mining conversation took place over at cryptocointalk instead of on here, pretty sure anyway. There might have been copying and pasting from there to here, i wasn't keeping abreast because i really don't wanna go mm for egotistical and pride reasons (losing coin identity and such), but as far as logic and securing the chain and the future of the coin, yeah, it is a no brainer, needs to be done. 29 th/s really isn't much at all. The equipment has gotten a lot cheaper and more efficient and Uno hasn't seen a proportional jump in hashrate to reflect that. The coin is already dead if nothing is done. T-minus who the fuck knows countdown to merged launch!  Cool Grin

WTF happend on git?
Coin is using wrong ports and it is reported in help comands.
My P2Pool cant connect now.
Great job!
Code:
-port=           Listen for connections on (default: 8333 or testnet: 18333)
-rpcport=        Listen for JSON-RPC connections on (default: 8332 or testnet: 18332)

It looks like the dev (I would assume Bryce Weiner) is updating the master branch. I would have hoped a devel branch would have been started to play in, or at least a 0.9.5 tag had been set until some testing was done....

If you want the 0.9.5 branch to use temporarily, I have it in my github:

Watch out for the "Neg-Rep-Dogie-Police".....
I'm not aware of any coin that has failed due to going MM - the only coin I can think of is Fusioncoin, but that was always MM'd & the dev went awol with no community. This is not the case with UNO. No coin can be mined forever, that doesn't mean that it will fail as soon as all coins are mined, look at Ixcoin for example. MM increases the network & makes a coin more stable I think.

It would be a shame if you withdrew UNO from your p2pool code rav3n, you do a sterling job, but I'm sure someone else will implement it if you do  Wink

Don`t panic! Organize!
Every coin that go MM failed in short time.
All miners are gone from coins that go MM.
Coin is losing its uniqueness by MM.
I`m shutting down my UNO P2Pool node and removing code from my P2Pool fork.
When it is MM there is not point to mine it deliberately. Waste of power.

Hey, rav3n_pl!

The MM discourse has been underway for months. The decision hasn't/wouldn't be undertaken lightly. I am always eager to learn:

with Uno's success thus far, and the strength and dynamism of its community, is it really as simple as 'MM = Uno failure'?

It compiled for me after
Code:
./autogen.sh
./configure  --disable-tests
make clean
make

Looks like getauxblock is returning something:
Code:
unobtanium-cli getauxblock
{
    "target" : "0000000000000c97670000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000                                                    ",
    "hash" : "000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000067970c000000000000",
    "chainid" : 117
}

I was mining UNo since week 1. Somehow missed info about decision, that it will be merged mined. For me coin is dead now.

You need to rebuild the database using -reindex to enable auxpow support.
AUXPOW? Who want to kill coin and adding merged-mining code???

 Cheesy Keep up rav3n man......

I'm all for it actually - is it now enabled then?

Edit: Seems not - I get this error when compiling:

Code:

Would you care to elaborate your opinion? We've been having discussions about merged mining for months. The community and devs discussed this at length and came to a consensus that we should go ahead with MM. Why do you think this will hurt the coin?

we can go down to floors .009 & .008
meet mr. blue line and fatten on bacon
then we float up up up

BUT

would be very nice if we don't break 0.01  Cool Cool

Yes.
If it goes sub 0.01, we will be on very thin ice.
On the other hand, the longer we are able to keep these levels, the stronger bottom this becomes and the sellers will feel exhausted as the turtle has a covering.

Now it is recommended to start preparing bitcoin purchases as it might go high (at least bitcoin looks strong now since it is not rising too fast).
UNO has very good chance to get a bubble once bitcoin goes to the bubble and the gamblers enter to the markets like it happened late 2013. The mentality is that I can make leveraged profits from buying these alts and once the gamblers buy them, they are self-fulfilling their prophecy and the bubble is even bigger in altcoins.
UNO being this scarce has better opportunities to have probably the highest bubble as there is not that plenty of coins available.
