I will sleep on a mattress by the computer until the transition is complete. Will post The Register in a few minutes.

New rule:  if a 'system' doesn't fully operate within 20 minutes of download/install time, it's OUT!

-

What's the biggest problem in the world?  APATHY+INACTION.

Everybody knows, either consciously or unconscously that the governments are criminal, but nothing is done.

We CHOSE to use NXT.  Why did we do that?  This is totally unacceptable!  Wake up and say, "No!" just once.

Im all for improvement.  The DVC I hold have value because of the silver sitting in my drawer in the next room and the community that can call me out on that fact at anytime.  Not the blockchain that the ledger resides on.  The project is still small enough for a hard fork to a better system, and ill follow the ledger to where ever it ends up, whether a diffrent blockchain, or some other trust based system.

cheers

Midnight here. Me back at dawn.

It's only the organisation that will be a risk. If we undertake to shift from the Nxt wallet to the Sparkbit (or other), all we need to make that a success is that everyone pitches in until the transaction is complete.

As Benefactor notes, with only ten or eleven players, such a shift is well within our administrative range.

Discussion, go!

I motion we abandon the NXT DVC's entirely and reissue in a new system that actually works and is practical.

I've tried to get a new NXT wallet up for days, now.  The initial install got about 75% in a couple/few? days, when they asked if I wanted the new version.  I didn't, and actually got a full install.  Of course, I should do the new version, right?  ...So I try that and get to about 345000 blocks before a freezeup for hours.  Shut down try again for yet another day.  And another day.  Still have no access to this wallet after a freakin' week.  Are you guys telling me this is a weekly occurrence?!!!

Why are we 'processing' the NXT blockchain every week?  Does that mean transactions can be changed/reversed/fudged?  Sure seems like it to me.  That's not a real cryptocurrency and misses the point of having a distributed system!!!  Just freaking centralize that piece of shit!  Not freaking different!

I have unlimited high-speed Internet!  WTF?!  My particular computer system used is adequate enough, -NXT is an overbloated, inefficient, ineffective, worthless behemoth!!!

Do you really think things will improve with NXT?!  What, is their blockchain gonna get smaller over time?

Wake up, people!  This is completely unacceptable.  I'm calling the big elephant in the room!  The emperor has no *ucking clothes on!

 Angry Angry Angry

-

Look, our DVC issue is small, and we know everyone who has what, so an abandonment and reissue is not a big deal.

...We just have to figure out what system to move to.  Looks like bankrupt Etherium is out.  *snicker  Grin

-

P.S.  Plus, then Sabretooth gets 2 DVC back, and there is no threat of trustless duplication.

Just raising awareness around using the nxt wallet for those who are new to it like myself.  It works differently to most wallets, if you put in the wrong password (even just one key out) counter-intuitively it will still open, but will automatically open a new account.  It did this without me knowing and I had DVC and NXT sent to the new account address.  So now there is an NXT account with DVC and NXT in it which cannot be opened by anyone.  I have tried all combinations of my password but have not been able to repeat the password and open the correct account.  I must have had something else in my clipboard (perhaps a web address or link) - the password is hidden when you type/paste it in.  Had I already had a nxt balance I would have recognized it was the wrong account.   My advice is not to use the default password and to make your own up using a very very long pass-phrase.

Mark I can see using the 'Search by ID' function  on the address I supplied that you have transferred the DVC and placed some NXT in my account.  I will reimburse you the NXT over the next couple of weeks when some of my sell orders are filled.  Sadly 2 precious DVC are lost forever.

I am researching the bullion-for-crypto project --  but the very first requirement is someone in Australia who wants to buy or sell a little bullion for Unobtanium or Bitcoin or perhaps Dogecoin.

Gonna ask you about direct-to-Cryptsy transfers, cragv. But today, send the .25 to my Btc wallet.

0.25 BTC on its way in 3. Thanks for the UNO, it has been received. I'll make our trade as Complete when all is done.

Direct trades using exchange wallets is generally a bad idea, but it is feasible between trusted parties when accompanied with a transaction ID. To put it another way, if the transaction failed and we both lost the coin, I'd make you whole again with another transfer direct to your local wallet. Such an arrangement would only work between friends or trusted traders, or where underwriting was in place. Thanks Mark.

And gonna dump the 'Quarters' and 'Halves' notion -- the math is back to front.

But buy this coin, guys: there is a Big Picture here.

Trade 65: 1 'Quarter' of Uno

That's 15.6 Uno for .25 Btc -- 0.16 per

I'll take this one too, Mark! (I left it up for a day in case  someone else wanted it but I also appreciate that the sooner this goes through, the sooner you can get more and do it again!)

If you like, send me your Cryptsy BTC deposit address and I'll pop it straight in there for you, saving some time and transfer fees. Cheers.

Hey, B.! 2, 3, 4, and 4.999999 stars aren't a problem; but those coming to Un-Ex and DVC now are not Uno folk who were around when we launched this project. So, it seems wise to make getting your first star -- which subsequently allows you to apply for DVC -- substantially more difficult.

Could we get some more opinions and/or 'Second!'s on the idea that a newcomer needs 3 Trades to earn their first star?

[Zelig is sorta in limbo.]

I'll second that.  Pretty reasonable.  What's 2 stars, then?  6?  10?  Based on the size of trades?  I thought we already worked this out?

@ cragv:

I shall re-read and re-re-read "https://bitcoinmagazine.com/17824/how-to-ensure-network-scalibility-fighting-blockchain-bloat" and the others.

By the time I got to "silly [terms] like “blockchain bloat," I felt silly -- but it did take Ian and I 48 hours of drama to get 'The Behemoth,' the standard Bitcoin wallet, synched on my laptop.

That's a barrier to adoption at this second. So I don't feel so silly about my question.
