Just wanted to let everyone know that the SP-20 Jackson is confirmed out of stock and out of production by a Spondoolies-Tech rep via email. Transcript below:

Quote
Dear XXX,

Thank you for your e-mail. As you know, due to high demand the SP20 has sold out. In order to focus on the SP31 and our next generation of machines we will not be manufacturing more of the SP20.

We do offer the SP31 which at 4.9 TH/s is the most efficient miner on the market today. It is very attractively priced at $2075 plus shipping.

For more information and to order please visit our web site at
http://www.spondoolies-tech.com/products/sp31-yukon-shipping-from-stock

Please check back on our web site at www.spondoolies-tech.com periodically for product updates.

Regards,
Barbara

-------------------
Kind regards,
Spondoolies Tech Support

To me, this means a few things:

A) SP-20's current, used aftermarket price should not depreciate much (if at all.)

B) Used/New SP-20 + PSU bundles will soon be hitting the market from third-party vendors or re-sellers.

C) A more efficient miner should be about to hit the market relatively soon
c-1) (The theorized) SP-20's bundles would drop in price once the new products are released.

WILD CARD: Difficulty rate is ridiculously high when the new products roll out. The margins would be so low for miners that hardware costs should keep dropping.

Stay tuned for the rumored SP-50. (don't hold your breath)

Anybody know gauge the cables are for EVGA G2 power supplies? They are red, and sleeved, with nothing to indicate 18AGW or 16AWG. This seems to be a risk associated with use of the PCIe standard way beyond it's original intent.

The power supply is a Seasonic 860W platinum, which comes with 18 AWG pcie cables (I thought I wasn't skimping  Roll Eyes). Although it appears the modular connector failed rather than the wire. I'm using 2 of these power supplies per SP20, with each PCIe power connector connected to its own separate cable from the power supply. I guess I need to dial down my voltage/power settings from the factory defaults.

Quote
Temp Front / Back T,B     31 °C / 78,74 °C
Fan Speed     100
Start Voltage     0.69 / 0.69 / 0.69 / 0.69
Max Voltage     0.75
Max Watts     288 / 288 / 288 / 288

Power is cheap so I wasn't worried about efficiency, which is why I didn't change the settings any. Seems those are too high for the PCIe power connectors. Isn't the 6-pin PCIe power connector specification 150W max to begin with?

been there seasonic connectors melt. it is why I knew what to ask you when you had the problem.

you have 2 options down clock or pay for better cables.  Cablez sold some to me  for my seasonic 1200.

16 gauge.

Has anyone seen an entire loop on one of their SP20s constantly disabled?

Quote
LOOP[2] OFF TO:0 (test serial failed)

Do you have another power supply you could try? You may want to switch your cables around and see if the problem moves to another loop.

move the cables around to see if the problem follows a bad cable.

try another psu.

try a middle clock not real low not real high.

Thanks for the replies. I swapped the PCIe cables around and the issue moved to a different loop. Time to look at my power supply.

good glad you found it.  what is the psu? If you can figure that it is a cable. you may only need 1 cable.

4: disabled (no power to DC2DC)
5: disabled (no power to DC2DC)

And if so, were they able to remedy it without sending the unit back to Spondoolies? I've tried rebooting, power cycling, trying all different versions of the firmware, disabling each ASIC in the loop one by one, etc. I tried contacting support@ and they referred me to their Skype usernames...which is difficult to catch them online due to the time difference and their availability.

Has anyone found a 120mm fan they put on the other end of these and find it helps at all? although sucking is one option, I'd think a two fan approach would drive even more airflow?

why do you need more air flow?  are you looking to run this at 1600gh+  ?

Thinking more for noise, and cooler is always better if I can get it down.

i reversed the airflow one of my sp20, temperature was very stable 23 / 29 27 with the  0.627v and 950ghz (underclocked), noise also bit low now as i think 5-10 db low

I am planning to get a few of those.
I don't mind the noise generation because i will probably use them in a empty room far of the bedroom.
Can't wait to start mining Smiley

So I've been mining for a few days now with my SP20 and I've noticed that I get a lot of stales. Is this normal or something I need to look at? (I'm very new at this)

Est. Speed           Accepted Shares          Stale / Dupe / Other        Last Share
1,480.63 GH/s   99,474k (99.82%)   171k / 0 / 4096                0:00:06

I've read that stales should be a very small percentage. This is on BTCGuild BTW.

well 99474k to 171k is like 581 to 1  which is 99.828 percent not so bad , but

btcguild lets you set your workers speed.  you may have a shit setting for speed.

try 1024 first

in not try 512 or 2048

Anyone know where I can get the screws for the outside of the sp20?
I'd like to secure them to my racks. And the holes are perfect for it.

You might try the primary Spondoolies thread for screw specifications and such:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ann-spondoolies-tech-carrier-grade-data-center-ready-mining-rigs-521520

Armed with those, I would go to my local hardware store. You could even take the SP20 with you, though that's kinda "over the top" in terms of providing them the example you are trying to match.

sry, maybe a lil out of context but has anyone at all ever got the wifi to work?
I believe John K was attempting it, but I never heard if he succeeded.  I would also like to know, out of professional curiosity, if this has ever worked in the wild.

I try with few Tplink Usb`s, no one get recognized.

Probably miners controller support some of wifi chipsets, but not all. so we just have to find correct one.

Has anyone tried one of these pmw fan adapters to see if it works, or does the sp20 have a different wiring solution?
http://www.amazon.com/GELID-Graphics-Cooling-Connector-Conversion/dp/B005ZKZEQA
I was thinking about using a delta I had lying around and seeing what difference it makes for noise, but I would like to keep the wiring clean.
I'd be interested in knowing if this adapter worked as well. Have a few 4 pin PWM fans I would like to try to experiment with in the SP20's.

Its not that connector, thats a standard VGA power connecter found on graphics cards, its too big for the spondoolies socket.

I know, I bought one months ago.
