I have 6 of these coming, I'd like to run them at the 1000-1100 watt range to optimize my server psu's.
I was considering running 4 off 4000Watts,

But that taps me at max, so was thinking of running the spondoolies, 3 on 4000 watts, which leaves me space to crank them right up if needed.

Maybe even share a pir of ants with them that I can take offline.

Should I max my 4k or leave space to crank them if it's needed?

I just got my SP20 about 2 days ago and I'm brand new to mining. I'm kinda just running it full blast at the moment to see how it performs. I understand that running it that high is using more electricity and therefor making it inefficient and I'll probably scale it back this weekend.

I've got it in my basement and I can't hear it upstairs (it's in the same room as my lab server and san so it's pretty drowned out anyway). It's powered by a EVGA 1300G2. I've got it set to:

Temp Front / Back T,B
31 °C / 75,74 °C
90 Fan speed
0.68
0.68
0.68
0.68

Volt Limit 0.79

With the Max PSU:
288
255
288
255

To help keep the temps even across the board.

It's doing about 1.6TH/s. The ASIC stats look like:

LOOP[0] ON TO:0 (w:6582)

Besides scaling it down to save my electric bill, would there be any danger in running it like this for long periods?

this loop in bold is too hot  I would back it off a touch.

you don't make any money doing what you are doing unless you power is under 5 cents a kwatt including  the delivery part.

make the settings .66 .66 .66 .66   max .67

you will drop 300 watts and 200gh

Yep, they do that ... no problem, all day long. Shame Sponds advertise at 1.7THs, never got any of mine that high.

On the top cover of the SP20, or at least the one's I have seen, there is a set of carefully placed and threaded holes drilled. They don't just look like a fabrication "mistake". Does anyone know what those are for?

I ended up using Username.WorkerNamex%j to show the last two quads of the IP and it's working well, thanks.

I was hoping, however, to have some sort of "meaningful" information, additionally displayed at http://start.spondoolies-tech.com/

New amazing feature in 2.5.54
If you set in your pool user something like:
your0wallet0address0something_%%m...%%v...%%i
it will save it in cgminer.conf.template and then whenever cgminer starts dynamically creates cgminer.conf adress like this:
your0wallet0address0something_SP35...2.5.54...10.102.20.25
The nice thing is that now it is dynamic, so when you change IP or FW it will update the pool username. If you don't want username to change - don't use this feature. But be careful - if you have /etc/cgminer.conf.template on your machine DONT MANUALLY EDIT /etc/cgminer.conf, since it will be overwritten first time you run cgminer.
Thanks for this tip. I tried Username.Workername_%i and the worker failed to show up on ghash.io Sad
GH doesn't like underscores.  Try it without.

I ended up setting and using the hostname with the %h variable after playing with about all of them.  I had to go in and drop "human readable" hostnames on them, but it works well once configured.  Glad you got it sorted out.

I have 6 of these incoming!
Plan to run them off the 2000W server PSU.

I have 4 psu.
that leaves me 1333 Watts per machine to play with.
Not to mention a bit of overload on these little guy's Wink

I pay 5.5 cents USD for power.. So I'm less worried about power consumption. More interested in higher TH.

Thoughts on the best setup?

Thank You

Shawn

at top speeds of 1650-1700GH, youll use about 1200W per miner, so you have some headroom on the PSUs.

my guess is running at max draw is ideal for your cheap power (assuming 5.5c/kwh includes all the delivery and regulatory extra charges), otherwise 1600GH/1080W should eb possible and is a bit more efficient

Suggestion: Managing a small number of SP20's at the moment, and love the page at http://start.spondoolies-tech.com/ to set them up and monitor everything.

What I would appreciate is if there was some way to include the hostname or some other machine-specific information on that page.

Using DHCP is the easiest way to manage things, but it's presently not possible to tie an IP address to any machine-specific information (beyond name or fw version #)

eg: At the pool, I can see that a worker named SP2005 has gone down, but I have no idea which physical machine that is by looking at the start page and seeing all the IP's.

KnowwhatImean ?

westhash.com  p=0.016
nicehash.com  p=0.016  >>>>>>  try p=0.0159
kano.is
f2pool.com
antpool.com

small correction see the   slight price difference avoids choice confusion on the softwares part.

acutally use westhash first if western hemisphere  and nice hash first if  europe , asia , africa ,australia

Thanks. That's a good idea.

Since WestHash is closer to me, here's how I've configured my pools now:

westhash.com  p=0.0159
nicehash.com  p=0.016
kano.is
f2pool.com
antpool.com

Looks like I'm all set. At least until the next difficulty change and I have to recompute the profit constant.

Of course what we need now is some event to drive rentals through the roof, like what happened with Paycoin  Smiley

yeah but sometimes people do all  the hash at  a top rate for ½ a day you will pick up on that every time now.

Need help understand NiceHash/WestHash...
I'm running 3 SP20's and here is how my first 3 pools are set up:

stratum+tcp://stratum.westhash.com:3334#xnsub   PW is  p=0.0160
stratum+tcp://stratum.nicehash.com:3334#xnsub   PW is p=0.0159
My 3rd pool is a P2Pool pool.
My question is, I have 3 miners, all set the same for the first 2 pools, but this particular miner is picked up by nicehash once every day or 2, but when I look at the "Price BTC/TH/Day", the highest price is 0.0137.  So why is my 0.0159 getting picked up?  And why not my other 2 miners with the exact same parameters?
I'm so confused!!! Huh

did you give each miner a unique miner name that fits their style (a different wallet or it should be miner's name following same wallet after period or _ )?

hi!

in my case above, were are the 68c and 71c temps? and were are the 110c and 105c?

thx!

this is the last and hottest loop, would you agree that number 6 is overheating a bit?

your volts are set pretty high. 110c is not that bad.  I was interested in your cost per kwatt.

with a volts at 0.677 or 0.682   the sp20  has less efficient watts per gh.

is your power at 6 cents a kwatt?
