Looks like Trump already thinks he has the GOP nomination locked. Started showing his true colors.

That's what I figured would happen. When ya think about it, prior-probabilities-wise, it was inevitable that The Donald would follow the others by pivoting to the center for the general.

But what's interesting is how many otherwise-embittered Conservtive-types are going along with it! Some of them all-but admit that Donald Trump is a pig in a poke, but they say that Hillary is 100% cat so it's better to try the poke.

One thing about general-election season: binary thinking always comes to the fore.

He said he'll raise taxes.

How can he beat Hillary if he agrees with everything Hillary says?

Running a liberal against a Democrat does not work. Look at what happened to McCain.

Be very carefully before believing the misrepresentations put out by the propaganda machines.

"He says he'll raise taxes."

This doesn't AT ALL relate to the content of the link you provided.

Let's take abortion.

Donald Trump said Thursday he would change the Republican Party platform's position on abortion to include exceptions for rape, incest and the life of the mother.
Trump made the remarks during a town hall on the "Today" show on NBC on Thursday morning when host Savannah Guthrie asked him about abortion exceptions.
"The Republican platform every four years has a provision that states that the right of the unborn child should not be infringed," Guthrie said. "And it makes no exceptions for rape, for incest, for the life of the mother. Would you want to change the Republican platform to include the (abortion) exceptions that you have?"

"Yes, I would. Yes, I would. Absolutely," Trump said. "For the three exceptions, I would."
Currently, the Republican platform abortion policy reads: "We assert the sanctity of human life and affirm that the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed."
While the official party platform doesn't explicitly outline or endorse any abortion exceptions, GOP presidential candidates in the past have supported them, including Mitt Romney, John McCain and both Bush presidents.

Finally let's take transgendered bathrooms.  To say "men should be able to use women's bathrooms" completely changes what he actually said.

Two statements are worth mentioning from your link.
http://www.nytimes.com/politics/first-draft/2016/04/21/donald-trump-says-transgender-people-should-use-the-bathroom-they-want/?_r=0

1.  “North Carolina did something — it was very strong — and they’re paying a big price,” Mr. Trump said. “And there’s a lot of problems. .......leave it the way it is, right now.”

He added that before the law passed, there had been “very few problems” but now North Carolina is experiencing an exodus of businesses and “strife” from people on both sides of the issue.

You leave it the way it is,” he said. “There have been very few complaints the way it is.”
......

2.  he said that if Caitlyn Jenner were to walk into Trump Tower and want to use a bathroom, he would be comfortable with her choosing any bathroom she wanted. “That is correct,” Mr. Trump said.
......... Leave it the way it is.”

Donald Trump, After Difficult Stretch, Shows a Softer Side

It has been a rough few weeks for Donald J. Trump and his team: a bruising loss in Wisconsin, a public campaign shake-up, and some high-profile missteps and gaffes, including his reference to the attacks on the World Trade Center as occurring “on 7-11.”

In a lengthy interview in his office on the 26th floor of Trump Tower on Tuesday, shortly after casting a ballot for himself and hours before the polls closed, the usually boastful Mr. Trump seemed a bit more humbled as he reflected on his “evolving” campaign and looked to the challenges ahead.

Alongside his oldest son, Donald J. Trump Jr., and his spokeswoman, Hope Hicks, Mr. Trump spoke freely, talking about whether to court delegates with lavish perks like visits to his mansions.

Below are some condensed excerpts from the conversation.

On what it was like to vote for himself in New York on Tuesday: I got over to the booth, a lot of people on the street. Obviously, they saw somebody was coming, and when I got out, it was all cheers. And then I went in and I got the voter slip, and I saw my name, and I said: “Oh, that’s very interesting. I’m voting for myself as president of the United States.” And it does sort of hit you, a little bit differently than when you’re thinking of it in a different context. You see your name, and it says “president of the United States” on a quite nicely printed form. And check the box. And it’s very big for not very many names. So it’s a great honor. Honestly, it’s a great honor.

What a beautiful article to read now, after his NY's crushing, dominating victory...

Thank you.

Ironically, people called Ron Paul an isolationist as a dig against him (even though he wasn't).

Now a genuine isolationist is using it to win the Republican primary and they love it.

TRUMP loves America, more than this prince:

hi guys what is with donald trump ?

im from the phillipines and i do not know any thing about that guys

he is like the main thing that i see on facebook every freaking DAY!

He was on a TV show called "You're Fired".

Apparently that qualified him to run for the office of president of the United States as the male version of Hillary Clinton.

He's also a big fan of Xenophobes who he easily manipulated by saying he would build a 200 foot wall all around the US.

He is also unique in that he's a Democrat winning the Republican nomination.

Trump seems to me like a genuine nationalist.  A year or two ago I was dead set against nationalism due to the very ugly history of what it can create.  OTOH, I always did have a soft spot for nationalists in most other countries who took an interest in trying to benefit their own people rather than wealthy forigners using the resources of their own country (esp, Chavez, Putin, etc.)

Over the last few years I've come to consider the United States itself as being an underdog who is under effective attack from the globalists.  Not the soft-globalists who want international cooperation but the hard-core globalists who want corporate owned technocratic one-world central governance.  This, to me, the worst thing in history.  I have continued concern about Trump's penchant for authoritarianism and limited interest in 'individual liberty', but feel that we (all societies) must stay wired for a multi-polar world with a diversity of visions or all will be lost with no realistic avenue for recovery of those things which Trump and his ilk might be weak on.

I'll add one thing.  As programers and systems analysts who strive for efficiency know, systems need to be 'normalized' in order to have things work smoothly.  The gears need to mesh.  This is exactly what the globalists are doing at the moment.  Trade is one of the primary tools to make this happen and it is no accident that there are huge deficits and 'bad deals' for the United States.  Trump hammers on this and in pubilic writes it off to 'stupidity' within our government, but certain things he says lead me to believe that he rather thinks that it is the easiest thing for Joe Public to understand and the most effective to win votes and that he knows with some precision what is actually going on.  Hopefully also he would be inclined to fight back against some of the most powerful people the world has ever seen.

I would also say that I fully recognize that the U.S. has 'got it good' compared to most other nations, and to some extent at their expense.  This sucks for them, and it is not the reason I have an 'America first' posture.  I would like it if the U.S. could and would 'be all that we can be' without exploiting and degrading others.  Isolationism is the most likely way to achive this and I think that Trump is genuine in his stance toward this.  I would not bet the farm on it, but he seems our best hope in this regard.
