.03 BOUNTY AWARDED

I hope you didn't take offense to that example. It wasn't directed at you, but for everyone in general. It's pretty evident from your first response that you know how to convey. I just wanted to know the 'whys' is all. And again, you came through. You explained your position well enough that I now I understand your point of view, and I agree with what you said; makes complete sense to me. You say your responses was all you had; they were absolutely perfect.

FIRST BOUNTY AWARD - Pending edok's response

edok, please provide valid explanations of the underlined.  Just so everyone knows, this isn't a valid explanation: "I see it as unprofessional" - Because we're adults.

Here is an example of where I think you could be more clear and direct. "Because we're adults" - what does this mean? Seems maybe a little...backhanded? I'm not really sure how to read it or if I should take offense. I would certainly say to another adult at work the phrase "I see this as unprofessional". In my mind it's a valid statement where I'm expressing my opinion about something.

Also, by valid explanations do you mean links/references to your posts? I'll try to flesh some of them out below, but I might not have time to provide specific links. Otherwise, I'm not sure what makes my explanations invalid. They are my observations and opinions.

what does the smiley face emoticon accomplish?

In my opinion, smiley face emoticons are some of the most ambiguous, frustrating, and frankly annoying ways that people try to communicate their feelings.

My point is that smiley faces often make communication more confusing. For example, if I said to someone "Have you had the time to send over that report?" that is a relatively clear message. If I say, ""Have you had the time to send over that report? Smiley" this creates confusion on behalf of the reader. Is the writer frustrated at the reader but trying to be nice? Are they genuinely smiling after saying this? Why would they smile after asking for a report? The tone changes and the message becomes unclear. This is why I personally find smiley faces frustrating.

For example, I'm okay with this:
I get it now

https://github.com/jim618/multibit/issues/403

thanks both of you rock !!, this will not make my out from BitCoin,

Cheers,

That's the spirit! Welcome to the world of bitcoin. Smiley

These smileys below, the use of the word "actually", and the elipses give this beginning of this message an uncomfortable tone. It ends very well and you encourage the person which is great, I'm commenting on how it starts. That's the best way I can describe it. I'm not a psychologist so I'm sorry I don't have anything else to go on:

I don't wish you any bad will, I actually wish you well Smiley  For the sake of this community, and from my experience of what we currently have out there... I still hope you become an asset.

I see it as unprofessional. When they are used frequently, I tend to think that the person using them is too insecure to be direct.

I see this at my work a lot, even when communicating with clients. I see it as unprofessional. Not really sure what else to say. This isn't a professional forum so there is more leeway to use them, but I personally don't like to use them and I tend to think that when people use them, they are expressing insecurity. It's almost like the person using them feels frustrated or misunderstood but is trying to also remain amiable? Again, doing my best to describe the feeling but I'm far from being able to describe this as a psychologist or sociologist.

It's a politeness that is largely absent wherever identities are unknown. When users see this type of communication in an environment where flame wars occur everyday and trolls abound, they're not sure what to make of it.

Hmmm, not sure what else to say here. People are used to other people being frank, rude, and often deliberately obnoxious online. You are very polite. People don't expect it. When people see something that doesn't fit it makes them feel uncomfortable. That's all I got.

Also, I think you could be more direct when the situation calls for it.

Maybe instead of "Because we're adults" you could have said "I need more clarity as to what this means" or "could you please flesh this out and provide an example" or "this needs more explanation, why is it unprofessional?". I don't know what you were getting at but I feel like it could have been more clear and direct.

I'm pretty open minded, so there's little that actually offend me. It's not that I have a 'don't give a shit' attitude (because I do care, too much sometimes), it's just well... complicated.

I'll say one more thing. In my opinion people want two things in life: to be fully known and fully loved. We believe that one always has to come at the expense of the other. I am a terribly insecure person at times, I can be very indirect (ask my wife), inconsiderate, and down right horrible. My wife has seen me at my worst and loves me anyway, this is grace. We need people in our lives who will dare to know us, who we will dare to let in, and who will love us in spite of everything.

This is all I have, sorry I won't have time for another follow up. Bounty or not, good luck to you and may you know grace and love to their fullest.

.03 Bounty Awarded

I get a sense you appreciate higher level thinking so I have confidence the first bounty is yours Smiley
Thank you for the compliment. Although, I view myself as another average human being. Tongue
Just one inquiry:
A common reason tone is used in text is to enhance the message for the purpose of further engaging the audience. I think it gives a sense of personalization to the reader, of course with the caveat that everyone's perception is different. But that's not a bad thing, we're individuals after all. I'm curious though... why is it strange?
Since I stated your tone is both lighthearted and serious, as I was reading, I could only wonder if you were a troll or a serious poster. That's what was strange to me. Your words also felt driven by emotion, and I began to suspect you were a woman.
you are a woman. so yes you are insane Smiley jkjk   lol idk if this counts as contributions
Women think much more differently and see the world differently than men, so maybe that's why you butt heads with other posters. I've noticed you are quite good at taking a post, thinking more about it, and continue with other thoughts. I don't. I like short, simple, and to the point.
It's versatile (like real life), I presume effective for those who can appreciate. There's got to be more to it than the typical nerd stereotype shenanigans we're all familiar with. Surely we nerds are smart enough to realize this, right? Or do I need to find a forum for intellectuals?
Nerds will be nerds. The internet is filled with every kind of person, so you'll end up with "non-intellectuals" wherever you go. I like Reddit.
Please respond with your thoughts and bitcoin address Smiley
My thoughts are written above. As for additional thoughts, I wouldn't flaunt your intellect. If you're smart, people will notice. No need to state it. You can come off as cocky and arrogant while people appreciate someone who's humble. Just let your words/actions show it.

Well after going trough your posts for a while I see you like to challenge everything. What I mean by this, is that whenever someone posts something they have to give a good reason to why they did what they did. I noticed this because I'm sometimes like that. This also shows that you most likely have a high education, that is you are a smart person, because you are not afraid to challenge everything and find out for yourself why is something the way it is. Sometimes though you think that you can accomplish more by insulting someone other then by explaining to them your opinion politely (have to say you sometimes do this).
Do I think you are a crazy person? No, most of us are like that these days. Frustrated. Challenging. Want to learn more and so on. So if you are crazy then I suppose most of us are.

i also picked the casino one cause ive been there and i hate how shady some gaming sites are with there TOC.

i believe that TOC are supposed to straight forward and able to state the rules and normal stuff like this clearly yet this site does not.

not good

i agree with basicly everything u said

i do however believe that if u are under the same ip as somsonee else you should have to verify that only one account per person if necessary but the TOC doesnt sya that

Review my post history and tell me what you think. Do I make any kind of sense...

This post is very clear since:
  • You had good use of bullet points
  • The post was long, but still easy to read
  • Good job, I like bullet points  Cheesy
  • A lovely string of b.points here too.

Thank you

edit:
This one

might be easier to read if you had used some bullet points in the long first section.

Sorry it some time to reply; got other stuff going on, trying to wrap it up for the night. I completely skipped over your post; didn't even see it earlier. But I'm sure since I've responded to a couple of posts with more details/examples of what I consider to be a contribution you know this one doesn't quite fit the bill Sad  But I have question for you... you have very valid reasons here and have made john look like a fool. and this casino needs to not be used

there shouldnt be words like most or probally in the toc for sure also...

1AApYe6PAMFZ4U1zsxDGwJjRufFENm8wZc

Yeah, you definitely found another good example, the hardest probably (this thread also contains a bonus answer).

Can you be more specific? What do you agree with and why? Did I go overboard on that thread? Am I minding other people's business? Was I wrong in any way? Did I misinterpret something? Do you think I should expose all his lies like I said, why/why not. Why do you think the OP is ignoring me?

Those are just examples of the type of feedback I'm looking for. Digest the material and tell me what you think and why. Give it as much thought as you can; you'll come up things I didn't even think about. That coinbet thread is a mess! But interesting indeed Smiley I made a lot of points on that thread. But are they valid?

i agree that the owner of the site would always take his own word over customers. you cant gave sometimes or grey area TOC on a gambling site.
you didnt go overboard one bit and if someone thinks you did they are just being a troll and or dont care about the well being of customers or clients at the site and obviously you do as yourself are one.

if u misinterpreted something so did i. i dont think you did anything wrong by pointing all this out. if theres something shady about a site it needs to be awknoledged and taken care of or explained better and the site owner ignoring you is not good for him and is showing his weakness and shadyness in my opinion.

oh and for everything being valid. its brought up in the sites official thread. the right place for things such as this to be brought up. well done

FIRST BOUNTY AWARD - Pending edok's response

Although edok didn't post specific references, I underlined the parts that as a whole, is what I consider a contribution (but be sure to explain your position so your reward doesn't pend). Yes, some of the things stated have already been said or may be common knowledge, but collectively, he gave me more to ponder on (further insight). All I want are his explanations now. Do I necessarily agree with his position about emoticons? Honestly, I don't know because I never thought about it from his perspective. Once he posts his responses I'll have more information to consider. Whether I agree with him or not, isn't why he's getting a bounty.

While I do appreciate compliments, I'm not seeking them; I don't want anyone to think that's the case (I toot my own horn quite frequently actually  Wink  But this is a good example of the type of entries I'm looking for.

edok, please provide valid explanations of the underlined.  Just so everyone knows, this isn't a valid explanation: "I see it as unprofessional" - Because we're adults.

All right here goes nothing. First of all, please don't take offense to anything I'm saying. These are merely observations combining my experience communicating in a work environment, on this thread, and in life.  Smiley

#1 Look at the above sentence. How does it sit with you? What do you perceive to be my tone? Being more specific, what does the smiley face emoticon accomplish? How would the tone change without it? These are questions worth considering because you use a lot of smiley faces. The problem is, you seem to use them in every scenario. When you're critiquing someone, it may come off as coy, sly, and usually has a hint of condescension. Or, the reader simply won't know what to make of it. In my opinion, smiley face emoticons are some of the most ambiguous, frustrating, and frankly annoying ways that people try to communicate their feelings. I only use smiley faces when communicating with my wife. When I receive them from coworkers, I see it as unprofessional. When they are used frequently, I tend to think that the person using them is too insecure to be direct.

#2 Expectations. You're overall tone is professional. This is good because I'm assuming that you're moneymaker job is handling court cases and not responding to users on a bitcoin forum. It's also something that people don't really expect to see in a thread. It's a politeness that is largely absent wherever identities are unknown. When users see this type of communication in an environment where flame wars occur everyday and trolls abound, they're not sure what to make of it. It may come across as fake or again, condescending because of their expectations for how people communicate. I'm sure you don't mean to do this, and I wouldn't take this to the bank, but it's worth thinking about what type of user is on this thread and what they're expectations are for communicating.

Personally, I think you are a good communicator. I think if you went easy on the smileys people would respect you more. Also, I think you could be more direct when the situation calls for it.

You'd be free to let us know why the IP's match when asked. Then we'd probably look the other way, but yes, that IS, in fact, a violation of our terms and conditions. If you lied about the reason for the match, or tried to avoid responding, then yea, we'd probably ban the account. This isn't for OUR benefit, just FYI, it's for the security of our players' accounts. Using public wifi for anything related to financial transactions is just plain stupid. Everyone knows that. The fact that you're trying to criticize us for that just shows you have some axe to grind here and are looking for reasons to call us out.

Okay... let's try this again:
Your T&Cs do not say IP address. There's NO mention of IPs at all - it says 'environments where computers are shared.' Everybody using the same IP don't have to be using the same computer. Does it make sense now? And I'm not looking for reasons to call you out, you're giving them to me! Seriously, you are! Here - let me show you:

"...let us know why the IP's match when asked. Then we'd probably look the other way..." Probably??? Now come on, would you take your word over your T&Cs that you've felt the need to remind us that "For the last time: IF YOU VIOLATE OUR TERMS AND CONDITIONS YOUR ACCOUNT WILL BE TERMINATED." <-- that came from you, in this thread.

"We have a policy of giving warnings prior to banning in most cases." <--- you again. You're not obligated to, and why would I take your word when you have "the right to cancel any Player's account for any reason whatsoever at any time without notice to the Player" according to your T&Cs!? As a Player, I'm not bound by your internal policies, but I am to your T&Cs. And besides, you've even admitted you can't control what your reps say, even if it's in error, what we need to know is in the T&Cs. So this doesn't apply to you, huh? SMH. Yes, I know.

Like I said, you contradict yourself over and over again, digging your own damn hole (your choice to continue, ok). But I'll give you one thing... you actually choose your words carefully/deliberately and well to the common. But give me some credit here, lol! Dig this: Consider my previous suggestion to revisit your T&Cs. My initial review of them was just the obvious.

You refuse to acknowledge that anyone with any legitimate action loves our site, loves our support, and has had great experiences here. I'm sorry you had issues with playing penny slots with free voucher money. We removed the problematic slots you pointed out, which, to be fair, were not managed or supplied by us. Like every other casino site in the world, those slots are provided by third party vendors.
This is a lie... like so many of the other lies you've just officially motivated me to pluck out of this thread to remind everyone of. I have defended you in this thread, complimented you, even continued to wish you well through all the accusations others - AND btw I still had the same problems with the slots when I made a real deposit. So you see, just another lie you passed. The excessively high difficulty level being only related to the free vouchers simply isn't true. I proved that, even sent a screenshot to tech support. And mention penny slots one more time... what's the max bet on these penny slots? Here's one better - Ask around; penny is not how you want to define my wallet.

Here's what you failed to realize about everything I've said on this thread, john: I know how to communicate a point neutrally. These points aren't taking sides, they're to create awareness (this is a forum, you know). Does that make sense? But moving along... you don't deserve my business.
My name isn't John, sorry. Best of luck to you in the future.
john (lower case j) was actually on purpose. It wasn't an attempt to call out your name; I have no clue what your name is... but since explaining why I called you john is something I sense you wouldn't understand, there's really no need to go there; you didn't get it. But this reminds me... now that I've apparently made an enemy, I best change my IP... don't want you passing it on to other casinos, you know. Hey, you did it before, how would I know you wouldn't do it again? My luck might actually turn around, shit.

--- Oh, I'll be sure to let people know how stupid they are for using public wi-fi in an attempt to maintain their anonymity with btc transactions. Who cares if the connection claims to be secure, right.

you have very valid reasons here and have made john look like a fool. and this casino needs to not be used

there shouldnt be words like most or probally in the toc for sure also...

you are a gambler so like action

Actually I don't really care for action. And I wouldn't really call myself a 'real' gambler per se' because I tend to hang out in the casino slots. If anything, you'd think I know better  Wink  I do, lol. I just like slots. And I choose some of the ones I play for non-strategic reasons. But I'm actually getting out of the slots realm. Too many cheaters out there. I have several inquires in the casino thread that are valid, yet unanswered (hint). Happy hunting!

Hello Vod. I'm a little surprised you navigated this way; thought I made your ignore list. But even if so, no insult taken. I'm used to not having many willing to challenge me.

I was just making a joke.   Wink  Why would you make my ignore list?  What did you do?

Well, damn! It's about time, lol. I really wasn't sure if you were joking or what, but it's no biggie. So, I posed an inquiry (maybe two or three?) some time ago in the lending forum, the one you troll. Smiley  Needless to say, I thought some were rather valid but I just couldn't seem to get anyone to give me the info I was looking for. Anyways, because you seemed to disappear (not just on that thread), I wasn't sure if you could see my posts or not.

Vod just made me expose another clue people!!!
