Due to a knee injury, Faysal Hanneche had to cut the trip short to the South Pole, thus no Bitcoin flag will be planted.

Here's to hoping that Faysal has a speedy recovery.

Yes. I have received some pictures from Faysal and also a bitcoin transaction from the Antarctica:

Now to find some pizza for him in Cape Town, South Africa.

Love this project.

Do we have any climbers in our community who can plant a flag at the top of Mt. Everest?  Or divers willing to submerge to the bottom of the Mariana Trench?

Mariana trench is easy, just drop a flag that sinks Smiley
Grabbing a picture might be tough though Smiley

Bad weather till 2:00 pm, and big sun later. I Took advantage of it to prepare veils (sails) then I left at 4:30 pm.
Sled very heavy and unable to move forward in ski: deep snow stemming from the storm of the last week

I was not ble to leave NOVO, as I wanted it.
Finally, I could set myself back in 1 km of the station.
Indeed, we announce a big storm coming in two days. I take advantage of it to continue to prepare my equipment.

Ergo, officially, Bitcoin is now on all seven continents, with Faysal having a Bitcon Flag in tow to be planted at the geographic South Pole.

No update yet, but we can assume that Faysal is about to hit the ice this weekend, predicated upon the weather.

Any update on this?

Unless I'm missing something, we can assume that Faysal's out on the ice, sailing his way to the South Pole with a Bitcoin flag and smartphone in tow so that he'll be able to order a pizza via bitcoins to enjoy when he gets to Chile in about 80 days.

The above reads like a joke, but seriously, it's factual and we in the Bitcoin community wish Faysal a safe historic journey--the first person in the world to solo trek to the North and South Pole in the same year.

The departure has been delayed due to the storm. I try to keep the pother thread updated:

Tuesday, November 5, 2013, from CAP TOWN.

The Storm on the region of Novo base is very large. The temperature is too high for the region (-8 ° C). The wind was so powerful that it knocked bulldozers and not destroy evil shelter hard.

We remain on standby in CAP TOWN. After reading satellite images, there is a strong chance that the departure takes place this weekend.
This leaves me time to refine equipment, rest and accumulate fat.
