I think USD is much more popuar than BTC , the reason being its worldwide accepted and even to buy anything with bitcoins we have to see the value in USD. But surely BTC is very popular and will get more and more popular !
what you shoot is right, in the fact bitcoin never can win against USD and i think we can have a dream if bitcoin will replace dollar soon but for me it's just a dream.

Big No! Like always in similar threads I wish to point age difference between this two currencies. First is very old, second is young. Lets wait minimum 20 years more and then maybe we can compare one big and strong currency, with rich history with other young and not fully adopted.
But for example you can try to compare btc with some other currency, some that is not old, and widely spread. Then you can understand why bitcoin is growing so fast, and now it become more popular then some low level currencies.

The honest answer is no, because the price is bitcoins itself is determined in value of USD , and hence USD is much more popular. It is clear that bitcoin is not even near to dollar considering to its popularity. But it is now attractive.
Well that's the truth that bitcoin not near to dollar even its price and popularity now is very on the trend. But of course, bitcoin will always be bitcoin

What I mean? Dollar is there long time ago and people use to rely on it rather than btc.
But the thing is, nowadays people want what's on trend. No matter how unclear something is to them, they will buy it and will use it if the item is the new trend. Bitcoin is kind of a trend to internet people, those people who only spend time on facebook, twitter, Instagram, doesn't know much about bitcoins. But if their favorite celebrity promotes bitcoin, then surely they will push themselves to know about bitcoin and eventually learn how to use it. The social media controls the majority of people today. Surely if BTC gets promoted in social media sites, it'll have a lot of impact and dollars might somehow be affected.

Not just the market cap ($8 billion vs $1.5 trillion), but look at the number of users as well. Right now, there are less than 100,000 active users of BTC (conservative estimates are even lower, usually in the low tens of thousands). Compare that with the 1 billion or so individuals and entities, which use the United States Dollar.

In my opinion, yes, because bitcoin is way better than USD. You can use it virtually, it is irreversible, and it has a limited amount of bitcoins that can ever exist in the world. As opposed to the fiat currencies.

We have internet for the last 25 years. Bitcoin is a relatively new application of internet. There are so many other applications of internet. Doesn't mean that all of them are popular.

Yeah so much rare that's why it hasn't accept yet in most of the merchants.
You can't always use a rare one to support your regular spendings.
But you can always exchange your BTC into USD whenever you want to. There are tons of opportunities in the bitcoin world. Walking away from it simply because merchants don't accept it just yet is such an unwise move. You're going to waste the chance of doing a lot of things on the Internet. Depending solely on USD is not a bad thing though, but it'd be much better if you're going to have another currency to earn money in.
