Verified working. I ran it in my sandboxed machine. Verified Hashes. Not yet verified PGP signature, but I'm sure someone else can verify it. (I'll do it later if no one does.)

I ran it to make my first compressed public vanity key.

Mr. salfter and Mr. scintill, if you upload your windows binary, and sign it (or SHA256sum it), I will download it. I'll also be sure to scan it (or run it sandboxed.)

I've only got the Linux binaries I built for testing, which is a good point I should have said earlier: I've only tested on Linux.  It should work on Windows though.  I'll see if I can build for Windows, but it may take awhile.

Very much appreciated by all the windows noobs like me. I will wait patiently for it. I've been wanting to get a new compressed vanity address.

I've built my CPU vanitygen under Cygwin and included the necessary DLLs here:

PGP-signed MD5 and SHA1 sums are here (use the key in my profile to verify):

If you already have Cygwin, all you need is vanitygen.exe.  If you don't, unpack everything to the empty directory of your choice.  I've tested this package on a clean WinXP SP3 VM that didn't have Cygwin installed on it already, so it should work anywhere.

Well, that's exactly what I did. Use the official driver remove tool. Restart. Install CCC 12.8 with its old driver. Restart. Run oclvanitygen: same error as with 13.1

I never got oclvanitygen to work on my GPU (only CPU which gets 750kkeys/s) so I read here that I should downgrade to AMD Catalyst 12.8.
So I did that, but still oclvanitygen does not work on my GPU:

Code:

Anyone knows how to fix this?

I'm getting 61 keys/s, will my 7 letter prefix take long with such an amount of keys/second?

Yes, it could take years if you are only getting 61 keys per second. The average time is shown in the output.

Ah. I guess I'll go to a paid service then =P.

I host a paid service. Cheapest vanity addresses that I've seen. And very secure

Seems cheap indeed! How quick is delivery? Also, how do I import this privatekey, and I can receive BTC with my vanity address like a normal address, right? And can I import it into my client? Also, do I have to put an 1 infront at the checkout? And would this add to the price? i.e, I want 7 characters, but would the 1 be an 8th? Thanks!

I'll see if I can build for Windows, but it may take awhile.
Please provide some tip-jar / bitcoin-address (e.g. in your forum signature) for people who appreciate your effort Wink .

If anyone is interested in generating compressed vanity addresses, see this Pull Request.  salfter did the CPU side, and I commented with a link to my fork that includes his work and adds OpenCL support for the GPU side.  Please be careful and verify that addresses you generate using my changes are correct before sending money to them.

Using compressed addresses saves a few bytes in the blockchain every time you spend from them.  Addresses made in the latest versions of bitcoin-qt are compressed by default, but not all clients support them (so you might want to make sure before spending hours generating one.)  A bonus is that generating compressed vanity addresses is a bit faster since there is less data to hash each time you try one.

So if you wanted an oddball beginning would you convert the first number/letter to hex then it would be like

-X4a for J?

J is 43. This page explains it: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/List_of_address_prefixes
thats wrong since you have to supply it as hex value, not as dec

You should not write about something you know nothing about. It only demonstrates your ignorance. The value is not hex.
