Can Vertcoin be mined whit a normal scrypt asic?

Er.. no. Its a Lyra2RE algo now. Not scrypt.
So Algorithm: Scrypt-N can not be mined whiit a scrypt asic ?

Vertcoin is not Scrypt-N any longer. It forked to Lyra2RE at block 208,301

Excellent jobs and my VTC still the same.  I will add 100x holdings as the rate is dropping from $5 to $0.05 each VTC
Seems a bit criminal to change the algorithm whiteout everyones agreement. So a hand hull of people just change it...  Not really the decentralization dream right?
This is even big as monetary system stopped using gold as backing.

No your comparison is wrong because people bought into this coin with the understanding that the developers would be taking necessary steps to thwart ASICS. This change does not in anyway go against the mission statement.

how many people are still mining the coin?
not hot now.

Shut mine off yesterday.  Mined for first 2 days only.
why?
really  unprofitable to mine due to the price?

Not profitable for me atm.  Maybe to those that has low or free electric rates.  I'm better off buying than mining.

It is only profitable for electricity price less than 8c/kWh.
got it.
so you guys should buy some to bring the price up, haha.

I say 99.99% false alarm please read above link in full (it is not nodes but mining clients that output skewed nonces f anything they are doing themselves disservice by reducing entropy in the output)

But, this does not seem the case for SHA-256, *only slightly the case* for X11.. but is the case for Scrypt/Scrypt-N.

If it were the Mining Clients - surely we would see this across all algorithms would we not?

I would still be interested if someone who had a decent amount of GPU mining equipment could test out the modifications.

Scrypt-N/scrypt/X11 "vulnerability" might be a false alarm

http://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/24650/looking-for-nonces-of-even-numbers

OS is skewing results and it appears algorithm is broken although statistically more "n mod 256 == 0" nonces are submitted from the clients.. very common and basic statistical analysis error (environment is skewed)

lyra2re is still a good move, electricity less and it is by far more advanced algo than scrypt-N is , all good

no extra advantage can be taken.... I am sure many have looked but you are wasting your time

Sounded a little too good to be true. Also sounded a little fucked - output of a hash alg shouldn't EVER be skewed like that.

you would have complete collapse of scrypt/scrypt-N/X11/X13 if this would be true, collapse was due to market forces (but not in full, full is 0)

also I can't imagine Ethan from darkcoin team who is as sharp as nails would run darkcoin as he runs uninterrupted

I say 99.99% false alarm please read above link in full (it is not nodes but mining clients that output skewed nonces f anything they are doing themselves disservice by reducing entropy in the output)

I got 2 290x's sitting idle , how much speeds are we getting after the fork ?

I think they get 1.2 - 1.3MH/s

Since I got access to free electricity , so its worth a try .Thanks anyways..

Looking forward to the new Vertcoin thread. It's time to update the first post.

When we do the switch lets give that new thread some attention and hype. The dev's did the heavy lifting with the fantastic fork/algo change now it's up to us to get this information to the masses.

Write and article if you can. Tip on appropriate reddit subs. Continue to help people get set up. Talk to vendors. Be part of why this coin is great Smiley

Time to take put this coins destiny into our own hands.

anyone with 6990? I have 1200khs. is that ok or should it be more? Smiley

I want a 6990! VLIW4 is gonna love this shit.

do you think it could be more than 1200khs??? wow and how can I achieve it? Cheesy

Everything in Lyra2 is done by 4 64-bit unsigned integers. VLIW4 cards have hardware vectors - should map right onto them nicely, that is, two uint4 vectors per ulong4 operation. Rewrite search2 to use ulong4 or maybe uint8, and you're in business.

sounds good but a i have just a very very little problem. i am not a programmer Sad Sad

Hi to all.
Please, help me with sgminer settings. I can't connect to any of the pool Sad sgminer says in log file:
-------------

[17:30:45] Please check the details from the list below of the servers you have input
[17:30:45] Most likely you have input the wrong URL, forgotten to add a port, or have not set up workers

Of course, this is bullshit, becasue there is no pre-reg needed on p2p pools, only wallet address and some password. What's wrong?.. Please, advice.

Edit: found the problem - the "--no-extranonce" option needed to get connect to p2p pool. Maybe, this info will be useful for somebody.

Another question:
My 7970 is getting only HW errors. Can anybody, please, give me some working config for 7970 card? Thanks in advance.

Found an answer for my question Smiley After installing 14.6 RC2 driver all working OK, hashrate 851kH/s with intensity 18.
