Any ideas as to who should host the dev fund?
I would prefer to send it directly to them and have them use it as they see fit.
With no pre-mine and never asking for payment for hours of work they do. They're welcome to a good chunk of my stock pile!
Having the Vertcoin devs to manage this may not be a good idea. Bushido stated clearly he is tied up now. He needs our assistance.
I like to suggest forming a committee to manage this. The committee should consist of a few reputable and well-trusted community members. Vertcoin has lost a lot of trust these few months. We need to regain that lost-trust and strengthen it. By this, the committee will be playing an _active_ role to perform the planning, organising and communication (between the dev and the community).
The things that the committee needs to do:
1) Plan out what needed to be done to revive and strengthen Vertcoin. I am talking about not just algo change but beyond that. We would not want a Vertcoin that successfully changes to Lyra2, peak a while and then continue its slow decline. This would be a pure waste of the community's hard earned coins. And a painful and disheartening outcome we like to avoid.
2) During the planning phase, the committee would need constant and active consultation with the community. The result of the discussions is a consensus-built plan.
3) Estimate the number of man-hours/man-days needed to accomplice the tasks listed in the plan
4) Execute the plan
5) Get the budget out and source funding from community
6) Recruit the new devs and other people needed. I believe there would be some volunteers besides the paid staff. Monitor progress and report to the community periodically.
7) Market and promote the new Vertcoin to the world
8 ) When Vertcoin 2.0 Phase1 is successful, the committee can look into Phase 2 - the Expansion ...
What do you think?
ps: jk is a talented person. We are fortunate to have him here.
Thanks,
1. we should find out, what is the current new PoW development phase
1a. we should get access to already done work under Lyra2 ("
It will come for sure, we already have implemented code just waiting for integrating and testing." Bushido)
2. we should strongly avoid at the beginning any hard topics, where there are many different, competitive opinions (e.g. inflation)
3. we rather should start from one and already promised step: Lyra2RE
(small steps strategy, even if hardfork with new PoW seems to be actually not small at all)
Current situation is maybe similar to Whitecoin few months ago - and we should learn how to handle it better.
(next to short enthusiasm phase - there was a long, very sad period)
"I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat" is a good starting sentence here, I'm affraid...
