Interesting campaign of fear and selling on here and on the /r/vertcoin sub. Almost seems organized...

Well I'm off to buy. Buy when people are selling, sell when people are buying.

I dont know how much longer I can hold these things.

Better to just sell and move on.  Undecided

Sell. Its over. Cryptoland has moved on. after the Vertpay fiasco, vtc has spiraled down and it wont recover. Algo change wont do anything.

Seems more and more likely the devs have gone AWOL.

such a shame.

The only thing this community need in the future is someone directly connected with the devs that can answer some questions from the community.

Yes please.

The community will have to choose someone and the devs will have to agree to communicate with this person.

Not to be alarmist, but I've asked othe (who is listed as a contributor on the vertcoin.org website) a few times on freenode #vertcoin recently if he's been in contact with anyone working on the new algo, and he said he's attempted to contact bushido several times over the past couple weeks, but gotten no response. So, not sure how we're gonna get someone to act as intermediary between devs and general public if devs aren't even communicating with devs. Huh

When you are a dev, you have to be really careful when you chat, because people want answers. But if the situation isn't clear, even to yourself, yet, then you cannot give people what they want, and it is better to say nothing. They will be in touch, of course, over the next couple of months, they will have to be, and asking for a "progress report" only increases their workload.

Seriously guys what's wrong with you? Do you think that evolving this thing is like sticking minecraft blocks together? Well, building a pocket calculator in minecraft took... did you see that video?
Now imagine that 10x more complex. That's still not even the tip of the iceberg.

The devs announced a fork and they are sticking to the schedule. Fine for me.

devs working hard enough! they have a social life too. So be patient and don´t treat them like your slaves. VertCoin has always had a loyal community and a bright future. Every coin needs to handle with delays (well, there aren`t even delays) and quiet devs.

When devs come to the chat they can`t work for a long time. So let us see how they deliver (and they will). After fork everyone says:
"I always said it! Devs don`t need to talk a lot" Wink

Right now they've always delivered, i don't know why they wouldn't this time.

Maybe they are working hard, and do not have any time to chat.

For 3-4 months? Without a break?

so, you simply want news to sell

What are you talking about?

I want to know why a great coin like this, with a serious following - has little to no dev involvement over the past few months - like.. at all. Its making me annoyed now. No updates, no information, not even a "hi guys things are going great".

Inflation is intentionally high to help the coin achieve a widespread distribution. It's supposed to be a currency, not an investment vehicle. Ultimately, if the coin finds a use and widespread adoption, that will negate inflation, and if it doesn't, then it's failed as a currency. Also, doge > unobtanium, inflation be damned.

Most people do feel that changing the con's emission is as good as breaking its social contract.  It is a no no.

sticking to the initial plan is a big pro for a coin, true. It'll benefit in the long run.

I personally think, though that the argument of 'high inflation is good for adoption' is inherently flawed though. I think the opposite is true 'only a coin that can hold value will be adopted' is what i believe.
What you are doing is making it intentionally worthless in the hopes it will be adopted because of that. Doesn't make sense.

It can't be adopted as a currency because it can't hold value. What we smart investors do is: we hold off on investing until the inflation has faded out.

One can just hope and pray the coin didn't die until its big moment comes years down the road.

Currently vtc is a coin for miners only. Not so much for investors.

Stick to initial plan makes it at least coherent. Hope you got a strong core-team that pushes it through to success down the road.

got to say: dividing tradevolume by new coins a day gives vtc 2 today. Bitcoin is 18, LTC is 58. VTC is on the low end of the coins when looking at volume/inflation. It looks pretty grim for VTC with that inflation. Vertcoin will need 50 times the volume of Uno for example to perform in the same way if you look at it on larger timescale. Yes, 50! (1 btc demand in uno is 50 btc worth demand in vtc) I'm pretty sure it'll be dead until next halving according to my calculations. You can't really expect any profit from it as an investor. Hope you review the inflation-thing again. 28800 new coins each and every day for the next 3.5 years is madness. Buying or holding the coin makes no sense. Just sayin'. Good luck.

edit: i'd suggest rewarddecrease of 1% every few weeks. That'll make it worth something. Take the bitter pill and hardfork it to a reasonable rewarddecrease to no kill it.
