Sunday update:

First of all, Happy New Year!
2017 is going to be a significant year for Veltor, not just in terms of blockchain adoption, but it is going to be the year of Lean Blockchain tech.

I haven't progressed too much during the holidays, however, building the codebase from scratch, is going to be so worth it.
I am currently working on the mining part of code, and the unnecessary complexity used in Bitcoins codebase is absolutely baffling.

I hope everyone had a joyful Christmas!

Time to get back to work.

No ico? Cool project, have an ico are good for both parties.

Can you elaborate on this?

Yeah! i agree. Build complex things with simple building blocks is way better than the other way around. Building simple things with complex shit is much harder and a waste of time.

Sunday update:

Progress as been made on the algorithm that balances the block size and block time that is needed to handle the demand spikes created by the LN failure mode scenario. I am playing around with different variables and simulating different scenarios, possible real world occurrences that would bring the chain to its limits.

Also working on weeding out all the excessive code found in Bitcoins codebase. (This will take time...)
One of the core principles of the new codebase is to keep the basic building blocks as simple as possible.
So I am looking into ways to have transactions with multiple participants implemented as a layer on top of simple one-to-one transactions.
Instead of complicating the transaction format, this could have the potential to move the complexity to a layer between the core network and the lightning network.

Good to hear progress is being made!
Simplicity without sacrificing potential seems key to me, i really like your approach to things.
Would love to hear which goals lay ahead Smiley

Any update about some exchange?
Yes, Polonix in two weeks!

Cheesy I wouldn't be worried about exchances, it's not a priority. Things are coming.

No worries 😎
But rewriting from scratch takes its time so I'm not expecting much the coming months. Hope I get proved wrong Smiley

Sunday update:

Change...is in the air.

This week I have been working on the evaluation and implementation of the most efficient transaction hash function.
Technically it isn't really relevant, but where possible, I try to find the optimal solution in terms of security and efficiency.
Results are to be expected next week.

Sunday update:

So, I have been busy researching... a lot.
My path is narrowing down to a very specific concept and vision. I always come back to one critical issue.
I compared all of the popular chains with significant hash power backing them, what they have in common and what puts them apart. What they all struggle to archive, is quite ironically, handle mass volume which is absolutely critical for mass adoption. This is my reasoning for focus only on transaction volume capacity and I am moving away from using BTC as the codebase. Bitcoin is not properly coded, its not easy to backtrack and understand the reasoning behind the endless additive updates, fixing problems by piling up technical debt, making the code only accessible and understandable for a handful of people, those who have been following its development as it went on. Making it very difficult for new devs to contribute to the codebase.

My approach is simple, I call it the Lean Blockchain. Getting rid of all the technical debt and strip the code to a bare minimum, focusing only on efficiency and optimising adaptability for the masses. For example, instead of implementing the full SegWit code, I'll narrow it down to the essentials only, the time function, because thats all what is needed for the LN to function. It will be the perfect fundament for future development unlike Bitcoin or any other coin. Bitcoin is a mess, full of technical debt and inefficient solutions to unnecessary problems.

Lightning Network is meant to fit Bitcoin, Veltor however will be tailored to fit the Lightning Network instead. There won't be any compromises anymore. Veltor will focus on being the ideal codebase for the LN, very much unlike Bitcoin.

Veltor focuses on one thing and one thing only. Efficient payment network, able to expand and serve the masses.
Unlike any other Blockchain.

J.V.

This sounds so cool and ambitious!
