I love marlboroza's very detailed analyses of scammers, but since scams aren't moderated, he wouldn't be able to do anything more with Mod powers.
I am definitely not good choice for altcoin moderator. I would probably trash half shitty scammy threads and very likely got myself kicked out of mod team Roll Eyes

What? How so? Nothing much has changed other than shitposters now need one merit and once they get that it's business as usual (and it's really not hard to get at all whether you buy it or not). Bitcoin Discussion is still a spam fest and people are still shitting up it up 24/7 and that's not going to change anytime soon or until signature campaigns are punished for paying for spam. In the meantime we can add some mods to help clean the place up.

BD is desperately crying out for moderation. I've been reporting several spam mega threads a day for the past couple of weeks to be locked or trashed - they always are, but sometimes it is taking 48-72 hours for the reports to be acted upon. I'm not saying this in a derogatory way, but the global mods clearly have just too much to do without also being board mods for the majority of boards that don't have a dedicated mod.

I cant be a mod, appreciate the votes but I cannot dedicate the time, I find it hard enough handing out all my merits right now due to all the shitposts.. Also I cant be politically correct so I wouldn't be suited to the role.

Why would you have to be politically correct? All you need to be able to do is follow and enforce the rules here as impartially as you can (which there aren't that many rules anyway). If you've got a high report count with a decent accuracy and are not a complete arse or troll then there's probably not much else that qualifies someone to be a mod or not.

Is there anyway to identify the list of people who have reported most? Because those kind of people were deserved to be mods.

Only theymos has access to those stats. He posts them occasionally but hasn't in a while. He sent me the top reporters in Bitcoin Discussion a few months ago after I requested them, but no further action was taken.

I too already voted for the five persons but still much people not interested in adding the new mods since we have very less votes on the pools.

Not until theymos releases that information to the public which he does seem to do now, and again. Having the most reports isn't the only factor to consider though. Timezones, and the quality of your reports matter too.

I think now, after the change and the new restriction the situation is much better. I don't really think new moderators /in the English section at least/ are needed. I think we need more time to see if is still needed.

I don`t think that we can talk about any qualitative changes yet. To get (or to buy, or to beg) 1 Merit isn`t difficult, so the number of spammers hasn`t decreased. I believe that new moderators are needed, especially in the English section, since it`s drowning in the waves of shitposts. The peculiarities of the bounty campaigns requirements provide for the majority of posts to be written in the English section, therefore the bulk of the spammers were and remain concentrated there.

You're wrong here: theymos doesn't require Mods to be politically correct:
Politics & Society is trash. People go there, look at a headline, and post a few sentences of their first gut reaction without reading any of the other replies. Who here is up to the task of moderating the section in order to remove this garbage, but without hampering the free exchange of ideas there? It'll be tough, since I do want to hear the thoughts of people who can't speak perfect English, people with extreme/offensive ideas, people who are rude while still making legitimate points, etc. So it'll be a difficult balancing act.

Karma is like 69 : You get what you give
I voted for

-LoyceV : He is active in gambling section and could be a good choice to be mod there.
(site owners making unlimited giveaways and it makes many problems there - new signups just pumping topics)

-Jet Cash , Vod : They both handling helpful projects related to BT .

Humans are noble creatures, to be moderators, especially for themselves and become a monderator for others, especially in the Meta Forum. Being a mod means being someone who is full of more responsibility in running the rules of the bitcointalk forum.

I say everything has a good chance?

Code:
Who deserve moderator position based on his/her skill & activity ?You may only select up to 5 options.
LoyceV
theyoungmillionaire
marlboroza
suchmoon
The Pharmacist
Jet Cash
TMAN
DdmrDdmr
Lutpin
Vod
pugman
Piggy
actmyname

I assume that a monderator can be said to be an individual with a professional soul and is able to judge other individuals for good purposes for bitcointalk forums that are unidirectional and aligned. A mod must be able to involve himself in the element of diversity of the members whose full responsibility.

Now in the case of choosing a monderator, this is certainly very much needed and knows and possesses the nature and character of a professional.

For example:
1. Intelligence:
(Intelligence is a basic factor to determine how well a step is taken by a monderator when dealing with a problem on the bitcointalk forum).

2. Initiative:
(initiative means brave when there is a problem in acting, Initiative: self is needed by monderator to achieve tranfaran and professional benefits).

3. Responsible:
(meaning it is ready to accept the risk of what is decided that comes from the consequences of the action that has been applied.

4. Character:
(the character of this thing certainly comes from how much success the monderator produces in arranging forum members in taking policies and decisions in the forum.

Conclusion:
Able to sacrifice and willing to plunge into the interests / problems of the Bitcointalk Forum compared to personal goals.
I think anyone can choose a new monderator with the character I mentioned above is an idea from me. Maybe there is a better suggestion for another idea to determine the monderator.

Greetings compact.

I feel I am already an unpaid moderator.  I leave damning remarks, hand out coveted merit, and get harassed via PM and email for removal or donation of the same, all for no compensation.

I would welcome a promotion to Moderator, simply because I have spent five years here helping out for free.  Smiley
I didn't vote for you, because I felt like you can handle yourself just fine leaving red tags. But if you want to be Mod, you have my vote (which I can't change anymore).

Wow - just became aware of this thread and I am honored that I am ranked second behind LoyceV!

(I doubt this poll will have any effect on new moderators...)

I thought you'd previously said you didn't want to be a mod? I think some of the long-time users who are reporting loads probably should be made mods as certain people have obviously put in the work and would be beneficial as staff members. More staff members have left than have been added over the years and the forum only continues to grow so we need to meet demand and workload is never ending.

Merit for Jr. Member and additional merit source has been implemented. I think it's time to add more moderator. Theymos should consider about it since some of moderators inactive and few board have no moderators.

Reports in the Philippines isn't that big that it needs another mod, besides,Dabs is still active... Some of the posters there are probably just talking to themselves, or  a group of people from facebook bringing in their conversations here...
Good Day Mr. rickbig41
How can you be so sure that Filipinos are just talking to themselves and bringing their own conversation from social media into the the forum?

I do understand that 2 active moderators are enough in moderating our local section, but I think that moderating, moving threads and deleting posts is still not enough to improve our little section. We need cooperation and interactions from our own moderators.

Apparently they aren't very active in their board, so I have been told. That board doesn't have enough merit sources too ,it seems.

We need mods for a lot of boards, but is there any use for us to complain and just complain?

Regarding merits, I don't think that you have to give each one of them posting "guides" when they see someone posting and you merit the OP... Otherwise everyone would just create their own "guides" and "tips" to earn merit...

Snip Most of my reports come from newbie posts in various different sections(patroller), and then the announcement, and tokens sections. Snip

It is because it is easier to spot a bot...
