I predict that we'll be filthy rich by the next halving of 2024.
Are we?
As long as you don't taking too many chances and end up fucking up because you trade rather than accumulate and HODL....
Silly question: are old, legacy, pre-BCH fork Bitcoin worth keeping untouched/unspent for some reason? Are they expected to gain in value as "collector's items" compared to the more recent ones?
Came up in a conversation with a friend who hodls 3 such BTC (from 2016). Bought them for $1500, now worth $300,000.
I gave him my usual "keep them if you can, spend them if you must" reply, but I never thought of old coins gaining in value...
It is kind of a strange way of saying it, since a BTC does not change value based on whether it is new or old, even though surely some BTC have longer transactional history, so sometimes the UTXOs will get mixed up in terms of having old and new coins (or satoshis of various ages).. which maybe brings us to the actual observation that he own 300,000,000 satoshis rather than 3 BTC, and sure, we cannot change the past, yet I have frequently labeled the longer term lump summer as a bit of a whimpy investor, so surely hard to count on his conviction, yet surely 3 BTC is 3 BTC.. .. ..
and what does he do with them?
You probably know that if I was in such a position, then I would reassess my cashflow, since 3 BTC does not quite seem to be enough, yet even if he invested $100 per week for the next 10 years, he would likely only end up accumulating around less than 0.25 additional BTC, yet there still is a valid decision regarding how aggressive anyone might want to be if he might want to consider increasing his BTC stash, and we know that a low coiner newbie starting out with 3 BTC in his pocket (hopefully secure wallet) is way better off than another person who is otherwise similarly situated in regards to cashflow and other personal circumstances who has no BTC.
As the price of Bitcoin is $100k, US President Donald Trump has Congratulations all Bitcoiners.
Congratulations all WO Members and All Bitcoiners.
pos trump taking credit for joe biden’s btc performance
I agree with you that it is kind of a douchie move, but what else would you expect from such a narcissistic twat?
At the same time, king daddy gives few shits about whether Trump takes credit or not - and in fact, there are likely going to be quite a few ironies to see whether Trump is able to keep up actual support for BTC... and he is likely going to find himself in some dilemmas - especially, since he thinks transactionally, and he seems to believe that bitcoiners owe him something merely because there has been something that has taken place that has been labeled a Trump pump.
So fucking what?
Let's see how long he can continue to stay seemingly in a place that does not piss off bitcoiners - including whether he does the first step of freeing Ross, and I am not a stickler if it is not on day 1, but it better be timely, perhaps within a week or two of his swearing into office, at the latest... I know that others are expecting day 1 to mean January 20th and no later than that, so anyone with a private jet willing to take ross to his location would not have to wait any longer than 1 day in order to receive Ross for such private trip.
And the journey continues:
I don’t like the new chart 📊
but maybe I am too bearish.
I would have preferred 100-199
Yeah. You seem to be too bearish, and perhaps out of touch with reality.
The first $100k is way more difficult than the second $100k, so some adjustment needs to be made, even if you believe $10k steps are seeming too high, they are likely not as high (or hard) as you are conjecturing..
... even if it might take more than a cycle to get through it, and maybe even 2-4 cycles or more.. perhaps? I have my doubts about it taking more than a couple of full cycles from here... but yeah, it is hard to know for sure.
I am not opposed to changing the design, even though this is already a known, acceptable and reasonable look and layout.

Nope!.. for one simple reason.. The PRIVATE KEY belonging to the UTXO is no longer PRIVATE.
So for me to take control of those "old, legacy, pre-BCH" Bitcoin UTXO would mean someone else knows the PRIVATE KEY... remember "NYKNYC" also means "OYKTPK" (

Maybe I am dumb? I did not understand either the question or the answer. What else is new? I might have to take Gachapin's profile label away from him.
[edited out]
if they are prefork it implies that the BCH is on the BCH chain and that the BCH was not cashed out.
Cashing out the fork coins is delicate as you can fuck up and lose the BTC.
Somewhere on this forum theymos gave details on how to safely remove the BCH with out losing the BTC..
If I held 3 old BTC prefork it means I have 3 BCH
I read the question to ask are these worth more the answer is yes.
3BTC + 3BCH. which today is around 306,000 + 1,800
vs 3 new BTC which are worth 306,000
I simply said I would leave it alone as 1,800 in BCH is not much compared to 306,000 in BTC
and you could fuck up trying to release the BCH.
I guess you read the question differently than me.
These are fair points, yet I doubt that separating out the BCH would be very difficult, and it seems that the Trezor was one of the first wallets with a splitting tool, so I am not sure if the splitting tool still works the same as it did in late 2017... but yeah there could be ways to screw them up and to not be able to properly claim the BCH or other shitcoins that are also going to be on there. I am pretty sure LoyceV splits various coins for people if they want to find out how much he might charge, if that even is economical for anything other than the BCH (and presumptively BSV) BGold too...
Edit: I see that maybe most of my post is no longer relevant, since AlcoHoDL clarified matters, yet I am going to let it stand, since I had already written it.
Edit2: In the Japanese department, for some reason, I prefer Toyota over Honda..
