Now have to wait for a serious dip... .

no dips straight to the unknown Wink

That really pisses me off. Just sold part of my gold stash and sitting on fiat that I cannot inject in BTC without serious risk... .

"Friendly fork"... all forks are an attempted take-over.
There can be no doubt the will confuse the less technical people.
They steal the name and damage the Bitcoin brand.
As someone has said before, there were Alts, Spam and the next phase of Bitcoin attacks will be the forks.

Apart from us indirectly taking money from the foolish defectors, the main positive will be the strength built in Bitcoin when they all fail.

I think there's a point where you reach peak forkage. If there's one every day fatigue will set in rapidly. Alts at least have the luxury of claiming to be something new.

Breaking News:

According to BitcoinMeister the next friendly BTC fork is on the way called Bitcoin Gold.
Video info here
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eAukxlpwyHg

GPU mined bitcoin fork with POW change to GPU originating from China.
Competitor to BCH and maybe Etherium later.

Sold my BCH for a nice 17.2% dividend that was an easy call. This one might be a harder call. Could pull some interest away from ethereum once ethereum goes proof of stake.

Team behind the bitcoin gold project will implement replay protection and are pro core according to the video which is interesting.

Even if it is 'friendly' it's still not helpful.

And it also has the magic three letters of I C & O

Self-Custody is a right. Say no to"Non-custodial"

So the BCH devs are already talking about making changes to the code? Color me shocked.  Roll Eyes

Maybe it would help if they added segwit and limited the blocks to 1mb?  Possibly?    Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

I am not so sure about that. The more you have folks in China, Africa, North Korea or wherever creating random and shady forks the more it focuses draws peoples attention to who is doing responsible development that is thoroughly and openly vetted and who is staging hostile takeover attempts.

In the long run this kind of stuff will probably strengthen the position of the core developers.

Clueless!
well imho...(hope I am dead wrong) the price being what it is...will drive the whales nuts...thus expect more FUD etc in a month with the
fork of bitcoin core / bitcoin cash / and segwit +2mb

price will be driven down to 2k imho...then a great comprimise will be reached again (like litecoin and segwitness) and they will clean up

rinse/wash/repeat

imagine the price of BTC in a month if these groups above had consensus....what 8k 10k

nope...I'm hoping I'm wrong but expecting a 'backlash' reflected in the 3 forks I expect to happen and jihan wu and bitmain with viabtc walking with 30% plus of the hash

to bitcoin cash.....just to shake up price and gobble up coin

again..hope I'm wrong...

....one thing I know -  is that the looks on peoples faces, people that you have spoken to about Bitcoin for years, that are sceptical or on the sidelines - the look on all of their faces when you explain Bitcoin and the Bitcoin Fork Bitcoin Cash is pretty much conclusive... and it is a look that says  "glad I am not involved with that shit"

No matter how you dice it- its a shitshow.

One I would much rather had been resolved in another way  Angry

What better way is there of deciding the path forward for a decentralized cryptocurrency than the market?  Perhaps you would prefer some sort of cabal dictating the right answer to the market?

Don't get me wrong- the free market is the way to it will be decided...100%  and so it should be

I just wish it could have been resolved another way- a way that did not involve playing chicken with $60 billion dollars on a global stage.

I do get how we got here...

I just dont want to see this:

                                                                   Marketcap
1) Bitcoin                                                            $0
2) Bitcoin Cash                                                    $0
3) Bitcoin Segwit x2                                             $0
4) Bitcoin Blockstream Satellite only                      $0
5) Bitcoin What another one?                                $0
6) Bitcoin This is getting silly now                          $0
7) Bitcoin Really?                                                 $0
Cool Bitcoin Trash                                                   $0
9) BitcoinKil me                                                   $0

Want top-notch marketing for your project, Hire me
Torque, what would be the purpose of that?
Bitcoin poses the biggest threat to the State, it is the largest and most decentralized cryptocurrency. The State can't control it or shut it down, and they were too late to try and co-op it by cornering the market (like they did with ETH, other pre-mined cryptos, etc.). They also know they can't buy off or manipulate the core development team. So the only game they have left is to sway people away from Bitcoin through social engineering and push them towards other alts, pre-mined and centralized crap that they CAN ultimately control or at least easily fk with.

What kind of coins DO they promote?

These guys were real slick...they started off promoting Bitcoin and only Bitcoin to their followers. Now their attitudes have begun to morph and show their true colors. Trojan horse operatives. They are now promoting BCH primarily, saying that it's the more legit version of Bitcoin. Also things like LTC, ETH, Dash, and a BUNCH of ICO tokens that we all know are complete rubbish. The whole goal is to push people away from Bitcoin now, and into other trash, or at least get people to diversify into a bunch of garbage cryptos. As if all cryptocurrencies are "created equal". It's all about stunting or slowing down the growth of Bitcoin long term.

I mean look at it, other than Bitcoin what other crypto has been under constant and relentless attack? Exactly none. Because none of the others pose any real threat to the State.
Ohh. Thanks for the update Torque. I don't know why people act like this. Have been wondering why bitcoin price increases a bit and go down a bit lately and this explain the reason behind it. However, we bitcoiners can still make things happen just like we use to do whenever any issue hinder the bullish of bitcoin.
Despite the false news and the bad way some people try to stop bitcoin from pumping. Bitcoin still bullish all time high today at $4650 per bitcoin today. Thanks to the US, Japan, China,South Korea, and India markets. The price per bitcoin is currently at the $4500 range which is still good though.

Apologies for not watching the vid yet but do we know a possible date for this bitcoin gold "dividend"?

Exact date is undetermined but it will be before SegWit2x.

Replay protection and lightening network are on roadmap.

Do you know if lightning is before 2X?
