How many till they let it rip you think?  30k?

Swap rates are low

Yet the price hovering at the same level it has been for like a week now. If nothing significant happens (hint: Monday) then don't expect anything dramatic happening in price. Nevertheless, I expect some movement if CERTAIN factors we've been waiting for A LONG time to come, hit the streets in two days... but then again; it's bitcoinland. You never know for sure what's gonna happen.  Roll Eyes

Well we're actually $15 lower.  Last Saturday we hovered 236-240 and stayed there till Monday morn around 11am(my time) then the dump hit.
dump?

Interesting that the bidsum increasing $1.6m on coinbase happened at the same time as 5k new btc asks

That would indicate to me that *someone* is trying to act as a market maker, provide liquidity on both sides and profit from the spread.

I'm not convinced. How low are we talking here?
Double digits!

Can you believe your luck?

How low? I don't know. I'm just preparing mentally for the fact that the price could re-test 166, perhaps even break through that support and then, who knows?

Double digits seem outrageous right now, but there are many scenarios that could cause such a drop.

-----
I used to always say that phrase "low as possible, long as possible" with the assumption that bitcoin will someday, ultimately succeed, resulting in a price well over 10,000 dollars. I'm not as confident that that is a safe assumption anymore, but, at the right price, I still think it's a good bet.

For example, let's say price hits 100 dollars. I still think there's a 50-50 chance it will either go to zero or bounce back to 200. That would be even money if those were the only two possible outcomes, but they are not. Zero is indeed the absolute bottom, but if it were to bounce back to 200 there is no reason it couldn't continue to 300 or 400 etc...

The fact that the downside risk is limited, but the upside is unlimited is the reason I continue to hold on.

A year or two of two-digit price would keep the difficulty low or at least not growing. A one digit price would constraint it even more.
But would we profit from it?

We are in 2015, not in the start of 2013. And near a new halving

double or single digits are not feasible anymore. If going to happens, them there would not be any mining anymore

All the less profitable miners would be squeezed out, difficulty would readjust and only a bunch of chinese megaminers would remain to mine and dump.

This would centralize bitcoin mining even more than now, but this is actually good for bitcoin™

what does everyone think of this? (outlook on price going down being a (kinda) good thing for bitcoin)

http://cointelegraph.com/news/113987/bitpay-reveals-the-good-reason-why-bitcoin-price-is-down

me..who knows but it gets eyeballs to their site I'd imagine

It's a fluff piece, blatant native advertising.

But I agree that low prices are good. "As low as possible for as long as possible"

Cointelegraph  and Cryptocoinsnews are like the "Captain Obvious" of the Bitcoin world.  They print so called 'breaking news' that is easily found elsewhere, sometimes days before.

And every time the price swings or is trending they quickly print a 'trend prediction report' that's so laughably bad and obvious, and always has the disclaimer at the end of "We think the price should swing [up/down/sideways/take your pick], but we don't know for sure and could go the either way."  What a joke.  Lol

You're never too old to think young.

Just placed a bid for a couple of coins at a penny apiece to use up my old fiat balance. C'mon bears, where are those cheap coins you promised.  Cheesy

A penny a piece? If that's what you mean by cheap coins, you'll have to wait a year, maybe more.

LOL Probably a lot more.

Last time it was a penny was on Oct. 8, 2010, four and a half years ago.

My, how time flies.

 Cool
