Buys are coming in because Bitcoin will soon be in the faces of every Facebook user via ChangeTip. Lots of new Bitcoiners will soon enter the space due to this increased exposure.

Infinite valuation
It is an interesting question whether bitcoins were ever actually "worthless".
Satoshi put time and effort into the creation of the first coins there is no doubt about that. The people who first started sending them around put effort into mining them, CPU resources and IT technical expertise just knowing how to bootstrap the first clients, e.g. Hal Finney. For sure, they weren't worth very much at all but those first guys probably had a basic mental accounting and a kind of altruistic gift valuation when doing the first transactions ("hey send me a couple hundred coins and I'll put a good word in for you on the IRC, check your code, give you tip on the install, etc") ... asymptotically small perhaps but not a zero valuation. So no, no infinite percentage increase.

margin buy orders set all the way down to 175 hope to wake up and see a bunch of buys

( why trader gods whywheever i put a margin buy order it gets to within a dollar of it then bounces up...
i guess i need to put in a few $10,000 coin margin orders

Now that free trading on Stamp is over there is nothing to feed the Finex bears. Nowhere to go but up.
Unless buyers think the price is low now and might bounce to 240-260. In that case a small fee is not much.

Looks like Bitstamp has started buying back the 19k stolen coins.
I thought it started at Finex. Anybody see who shot first?
If they decided to buy them on exchanges why would they wait until now rather than buy at ~150 to ~160?
maybe they expected even bigger drops?
Some analysts have not discounted the possibility. However I'd have thought Bitstamp would do OTC trades.
Perhaps they have been working on OTC trades but still need more coins than they can get?
Or maybe some rich investor just decided to start buying over a 1000BTC in increments?
We can speculate.
