I my case it was about half a year, from just before the January-June 2013 bubble until I joined in June 2013.Good to know. And it makes sense. I've been following bitcoin since before brotherjohnf split off his bitcoin channel from his silver updates. Of course the November/December peak made me realize that it was indeed going to happen. Bitfinex was completely unusable for a while and I actually shorted with 10 BTC @ 440 by mistake instead of selling some coins (I didn't think my first order had gone through). Lucky for me I got to close it below 440
Actually there is not much difference between selling and shorting when they changed if you have BTC you can margin sell them without need to take BTC swaps - so not much difference if you want short term trade.
