"We have one guy – I don't know who he is, but he came through a broker – and they're like, 'we want to sell 125,000 bitcoin'. And I'm like, 'what? That's $6 billion guys'. And they're like, 'yeah, we're going to send it to a company in Australia'," the executive said.

Sounds like FUD of the highest order to me.

One crypto firm has received lots of queries in the past 10 days from Swiss brokers asking to liquidate billions of dollars of bitcoin because their clients are afraid Switzerland will freeze their assets, one executive said, adding that none of the requests had been for less than $2 billion.

Why would you ever cash out of a unseizable asset to protect yourself from being seized.

There is some fuckery going on.

what is this "brake pedal" you speak of?
As a side note: A few days ago I even saw two B52 Stratofortress flying almost same height together, patrolling on the border of Poland/Ukraine and Romania/Ukraine. As far as I can tell from the Wiki page, these are not made for parachuting food rations into refugee camps and that mission was certainly a pretty direct and not very diplomatic message to Russia in response to ole Vladi circling his finger above the red button..

just the us flexing

I followed Bob's link, and there's a big hole formed over Ukraine...

Also, zooming out, the difference in air traffic density in various regions throughout the world is staggering.

You have to filter for 'Military' to see the interesting movements (at least those aerial vehicles that have an ADSB transponder active).

In other news, a Russian made, supposedly Ukrainian operated UAV crashed into Zagreb city after crossing >500km NATO territory without anybody noticing:
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/mar/11/ukraine-military-drone-crashes-into-croatian-capital-zagreb

This is a model that was designed maybe even 50 years ago, and it has always been problematic, which has obviously happened now. Some speculate that someone may have programmed Jarun (part of Zagreb) instead of Yarun (Ukraine) and that the drone therefore flew all the way to Zagreb. What is amazing is that no country (Romania, Hungary, Croatia) managed to act it before it fell, which means that missile shields and air defenses are worth almost nothing.

However, some analysts attribute this to the very heated situation in the Balkans, where part of Bosnia and Herzegovina (Republika Srpska) is trying to join the Republic of Serbia, and has the support of Russia. In recent days, an increasing number of international forces have arrived in Bosnia and Herzegovina via Croatia, and the French air force is patrolling over the country. A Balkan barrel of gunpowder could explode at any moment, and it would certainly suit Russia to divert the public's attention from the war in Ukraine.

So we've got over $1B coming in from @stablekwon and $500M coming from @nayibbukele in the next month into a relatively illiquid period, and no one is front running? Are we gonna pump this ponzi or what ladies and gentlemen?

Just watching this awesome comedy show (think it's called 'EU Versailles summit press conference' or sth). Honorable Secretary 'Zensursula, Flinten Uschi' van der Leyen:

We will phase out the use of Russian oil, gas and coal ...

... by 2027

Meanwhile in Moscow:

That will teach him, I bet.

After watching the link Bob kindly provided in the last days, I noticed that in the day there are often up to half a dozen reconaissance aircrafts circling along the Ukrainian border in Poland and Romania (plus two refueling aircraft on standby), though in the night they seem to all go home. Strictly business hours I guess.

If Russia escalates this further NATO may even be forced to put some folks on watch in the night..

An interesting question I've seen on twitter. I'm asking it here, for the crowd of pundits and observers and long time bitcoin followers.

Q: What is the shortest WMA that results in BTC never going down?

Seen here:
https://twitter.com/cryptoartists1/status/1501559160684662789

I experimented a little bit, and the answer is 169 weeks (3.25 years).

It's at $22780 right now, and rising about $30 a day.

Good work, Phil_S.

Pretty close to the 200-Week MA, which has always been monotonically increasing and is currently at $20,283.

Learned that the "lntop" utility, with Routing view enabled, is unbelievably helpful to see what is happening in realtime with your node. What transactions are being broadcast, what you are picking up vs what you are dropping due to not meeting your fee requirements.

This has been a useful tool for recognizing routes that I have priced too high, if I'm looking to fee chase - something I am *NOT* looking to do right now, but instead, trying to do the deepest dive I've yet done on Lightning.

Lowered my connection requirements for peers to 7,500,000 sats to encourage more organic routes coming my way.

The experiment continues, much slower, safely, and methodical this time. Not doing anywhere near an S9 in daily fees, but that is not the goal this time around.

I want to try to build this node to last, permanently.

Off to a semi-decent start I think.

I think this is interesting, potentially valuable info - we don't care about worthless trivia here do we? Wink

... probably best to take blatant war propaganda somewhere else?

As far as I can see the problem is not in the content of the post, but in who posted it, the hypocrisy at its best Lips sealed

~snip~
Somehow we like to think we're different than the Russian people though.  Maybe we think we're more savvy and less naïve; how could they allow themselves to be so easily deceived?  Those Russian bastards shouldn't be out "shopping"!  They should be protesting their government's actions!  Why don't they stop Putin?!

I will not put any links to recent research, but anyone can see how many Russians support their leader - in a country of 150 million people not even 1% protest against the war, as we have already concluded they have completely different priorities.

It is not easy to protest if you get tossed in Jail for 15 years for marching against the war.
