Next week is important isn’t it. I feel like if we don’t start going up by the end of next week then the bull could be over. I’m prepared either way, obviously heavily leaning to wanting up but there are positives to both. Let’s see what happens.

Yeah. Black Friday is gone. All the bad news already affected the market and we already saw that Bitcoin Respected its $53K Support. We saw a One-month Low was :$53,569.76. Tomorrow is the weekend and we expect a green candle tomorrow. Yeah, Next week is very important and crucial at the same time. Sit tight and HODL.

I am not sure if people realise that there will never be 21,000,000 Bitcoins... and i don't mean lost coins (that is still part of the circulation total)...

(waiting for a reply asking why...)
That's just a rounding difference. 21 million is easier to remember than 20,999,999.9769 (which I actually had to look up).

It's less than that. Some miners haven't claimed their full reward so we're ~29 BTC short IIRC.

Bingo! That's the answer!...

Back when i was mining, i had watched some blocks being added, and this particular block caught my eye.... It was confirmed but 12.5BTC reward wasn't added.

Block Number: 501726

Asked the question back in tech support and the legendary ranochigo answered it.

In theory, it is possible to have the limit of Bitcoin even lower than 21,000,000, if miners somehow screw up their OP_RETURN...

that -12.5BTC that i know about.. there are others, but it was New Years Eve 2017 and i wasn't bothered to find any previous ones.

You should take a look at the transaction... very strange

184467440724.59550000 BTC in fees....

If I'm not mistaken, that was a kind of wrap-around signed/unsigned type error, had to do with a wrongly declared C variable type, and was fixed in an update. I could be wrong, but I think that was it.

That's what I thought he meant, but I couldn't be bothered to look it up. It means nothing practically. Just 0.0231 BTC short of 21M.

Less the currently unclaimed 29 BTC that suchmoon mentioned. So, still nothing.

The most significant supply reduction, that has a practical meaning, are the lost BTC (from lost keys, owners dying, etc.).

Was just a bit of Pub Trivia....

It just makes you think, how we can and appreciate the reduction in supply, but the moment someone brings up increasing supply, we are ready to take them down!

We all understand what would happen to Bitcoin going brrrrrr....!

For those discussing about COVID-19, vaccines, etc., I've just posted something relevant in the other thread:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.58546196

Real case, involving some of my dearest relatives. Read it if you like. Take it as you will.

Sorry to hear about your uncle... so much to say, but it's not going to change the results...

Thanks. He was old, but in good health before the stroke and the COVID-19 infection.

What worries me more is about my cousin. I hope the virus clears away soon and there is no permanent damage to her health. I hope those close to her learn something from her ordeal, especially her brother.

Close friend's grandad (80+) passed away in a similar scenario. Slipped and broke his hip, went to hospital and caught COVID from one of the nurses. Was in ICU and passed in less than 1 week.

I really don't want to get into the whole pro-vaxx and anti-vaxx shit. People will always see what they want to see. From the wise words of "Milhouse Van Houten", "THEY'RE LIKE TWO POSITIVELY CHARGED IONS"

One thing we should all be agreeing on is, with the tech available, we should be able to wipe this thing of the face of the earth! Shit we eliminated smallpox using cowpox pus, we killed bacteria with a fungi, all without the tech we have now...

Everything "non essential" forced to close at 5pm daily in The Netherlands from Sunday because of the extremely dangerous deadly mutating Coronavirus.

Interesting comment I just read:

"Then we will just reverse everything. Go to the pub from 12pm-5pm and THEN go to work."

 Grin

Stop lying and overexaggerate the situation. B.1.1.529 is not even active here, only 1 case in Belgium so far.

Hospitals are struggeling again with Delta patiens, doctors asked the goverment to take extra steps for some relief.

@BitcoinBunny the measures where not taken because of a new variant, but because infections are running rampant. I hear a lot of people around me who know people who are now infected, luckily all either young (kids) or vaccinated, so no one really ill (except for the nephew of a team member who died 2 weeks ago, but he had many prior medical issues). The hospitals are so overwhelmed now that all non-essential is halted and hospitals are preparing for the situation where even essential healthcare (e.i. care that has to be given immediately, or the patient will die) will have to be rationed. The husband of a friend of mine is a surgeon, he is now part of a commission that will have to make such life and death decisions.

All non essential care being halted is in itself bad enough. A friend of mine has cluster headaches (nicknamed suicide headaches) and he stopped receiving injections against that, he'll just have to deal with it. Just one little example.

Interesting thing in the NL is that we have been measuring the number of virus particles in the sewage water for quite a while now. It gives a nice objective view of how much Corona is going around and can be used to predict how many people will clog our health system two weeks later. See https://coronadashboard.rijksoverheid.nl/landelijk/rioolwater

Thing is with the hospitals, we've had covid around for almost 2 years now. If our hospitals are still having issues this is because governments have been underspending on the hospital system for years pre-covid and in the last 2 years done very little to change that. In the meantime how many trillions have been handed to the world elites. IMO Current covid responses are a failure of government planning.
