The point is, comparing things/events from the past to one of current time (and the future), which are not even very similar, is just wrong in most cases.
I mean: Tulips? REALLY?!

EDIT: Bitcoin is the first real counterweight for fiat money. How can somebody, even a so called "expert" even compare this to the irregularly crazy tulip mania?

Stupid questions: I've always wondered... How did the owners keep their tulips in good condition? Weren't they worried that they may dry out and die? How long can a tulip even last?

I would be very worried if I had to take care of my Bitcoins like plants. You know, water them, get them out in the sun, protect them from pests, feed them with nutrients... Hard work! Fortunately, my Trezor and/or paper seed backups don't need anything to survive, not even power. Maintenance-free forever!

it's hilarious to still see bitcoin being compared to the tulip bubble

fairly easy to spot the difference

Well, i was thinking about that too, but the neighbors would likely kill me for having this thing running for days (they use firewood) and i just can't sleep in noisy environments. It's a nightmare on intercontinental flights. As soon as i recognize the noise cancellation of the ears at the moment i'm falling asleep, i wake up because the absence of turbine noise is raising some kind of alert. Maybe i shouldn't have tried to forcefully stay awake for quite some time, in an episode of my past life. IDK  Huh

They have some very quiet gas generators. PV is possibly a good idea too though.

The thing about a generator is that you don't need to run it 24/7. When out power was out, we were running a couple of times a day just to keep the freezer cold. The last few days have been overcast so PV would probably have been less then optimal. The passive nature of PV and not requiring fuel is definitely a bonus. I would suggest that it's worth having both and using each to its strengths.

Having thought this further, i may buy a 10-12kW mobile generator (fuel) and build a tiny, wooden shed for protection and fuel storage.
Just in case. $5-6k for something that shouldn't let me down if i power it up occasionally. I would just have to use up the fuel once a year or every other, depending on how long the fuel has good quality (relying on additives, i guess).

As a Bitcoin hodler, it's very bullish but I'm not much looking forward to trying to find a Bitcoin ATM in a post-apocalyptic wasteland.

And once you found one, it will take some time to get the tens of thousands of dollar bills into your armored lambo, one handed, because of the gun you're holding...  Shocked

To be fair, the government's awful response to handling the economy through covid is less on the president and more on the legislature and state governments. Shut things down in a stupid way then you have to help people out but you can't discriminate so you have to print enough for everyone and then because you're the government and there's just no other way of doing it, you load it down with pork that eclipses the aid to the people you're supposed to be helping. You don't raise this money through taxes, of course since you just crapped up the economy so just run the money printers.

There's going to be a relief bill for Texas too, no doubt. We know how that will go.

That sh!t is so manipulated by m-eLon that I wouldn't touch it too soon till it becomes more "honest". Or wtf that sh!t is supposed to mean, it needs to have a bigger market cap so sh!theadpricks like m-eLLon wouldn't and couldn't touch it even if he wanted to. Smiley  Roll Eyes

We can say that Bitcoin broke all the resistances one by one. After passing the 49000$ threshold, which is psychologically, it started to keep itself in the 50000$ band. Let's see what will happen after that.

$50k is the value that makes the FED overheats, they are at their wits' end to fight BTC

That's why my plans after taking profit near the peak of this cycle includes an autonomous photovoltaic power supply for the house., maybe coupled with wind energy.

What about a propane or diesel home generator? Wouldn't that be an easier/cheaper solution?

Sorry, drifting off topic a little...
The big plus of the PV cells is that you feed the unused power into the supply network, which saves and sometimes even generates some good amount of money.
It just has to be big enough to run the house on a semi-clouded day. A dry, floating room (room in a room), dug into the ground for a tank and generator that could run for days would cost much more, but this would be the minimum.

I fix broken miners. And make holes in teeth :-)
Gotta tell you, I remember people thinking it was going to fall once Biden came in. Hasn't worked out that way which could mean Bitcoin is more than a disaster hedge.

See, I would take that as evidence that it is one Cheesy

Historically, good times come after inauguration: first at 2013, and then at 2017.
