I think that fourth law that R Daneel came up with all by himself (protect humanity) is a bit too PC for my taste but it works well in the books.

I have to reread those books. Isn't R Daneel the emperors gardener or something on Trantor?

That's what I said. Put an "innocent bystander" (e.g., a harmless pregnant woman) on the front and attack from the back. Robot can't react.

Holy fuck. Based on that, I think we will have will have humanoid robots in our homes by 2030.

A buddy has a robot mower for his lawn.  And it’s starting to make sense to replace our lawn guy with a robot...

"holy fuck" was also the first thing that came into my mind watching this. how long will it take for those things to stop you at some intersection and ask for drivers license and some sats?

scary creatures. when we will meet them in real life i bet them are not dancing for us. it will be other way around...  Tongue
I am scared. I, too, have read the Asimov short stories as a kid. The Three Laws are a good idea but a practical impossibility because of the way they are coded. Consider a robocop that fines you. That is damaging a human. Do the Laws only cover physical harm? What if the fined human chooses to destroy the robot? It should succumb voluntarily. Will it or...? Will they code anti-burglar/anti-vandal response into the robots? How far can they go? Is a pregnant woman the same as a gang of thugs? Can a gang of thugs acquire relative immunity by hiring a pregnant woman as a robofront?

I too like the "robot" novels, I haven't read them in a while, but if I remember correctly the Three (four) laws covers the robot's right to self defence.

Yep, googled and found them, law number three.

First Law
A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
Second Law
A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
Third Law
A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

Man who stares at charts (and stars, too...)
Got a new Synology DS420+ and plugged in the old drives. Booted it up and puckered my asshole and was greeted with a "Do you wish to migrate your data" dialogue. You bet my fucking ass I do! Clicked yes and 10 minutes later all back up and running with the same settings and all!

I absolutely love Synology products, and their Hybrid RAID setup. Use two of their boxes (DS415+ & DS1511+) on my network and can't recommend them highly enough. For Direct Attached Storage arrays on my Mac, can't to wrong with Promise Technology products IMO.

Promise. That's the manufacturer name i was searching my memories for, almost drove me mad.
THX!

xhomerx10 !!!
i officially and kindly apply for an "alternative original" of this hookers&blow-hat for $50k+ levels  Grin Grin Grin
If you're ok with (t)hat  Cool

Dammit, I'm ready to wear it NOW...  Cool

No problem, i want literally "HOOKERS & BLOW" on it. So it would be an evolution of this hat Smiley

BTC + Crossfit, living life.
I have heard you admit, on several occasions, that you did not buy enough..

Any man who claims he bought enough is a liar

Those who knows BTC from 2016-2017 and claiming not bought enough with the cash they hold or could have available.... they are not BTC worthy....

I remember many occasions, for example an uncle of me... BTC pumps to 1400-1600-ish and he said if it drops back to 900-ish then I’m gonna buy (thinking he was to late @1400-1600)

Of-course the price did drop to those 900’s maybe bit lower cannot remember exactly ....

But naturally he didn’t bought...  those aren’t BTC worthy cause they fail to understand the fundamentals and the UP potential, they also only see $-€ marks and nothing else...

This one is lucky he did bought around 3500-ish ....

Is it time yet to put page count parity behind us, just as gold ounce parity was put to rest years ago?

As unreal as it sounds, I sure hope so!

I've now had six phone calls in the last two days from friends I haven't heard from in ages, either telling me they've just bought btc or asking me how they can do so. The fact that all of them are intersted in btc only to try to make some fiat profit is a little disappointing, as is the fact that none of them really know what it is, how it works or why it was created.

But at least they're no longer no-coiners. My hope is that they'll become hodlers, they'll invest some time in learning about btc and will fall in love with it too.

Maybe they'll discover the WO? Maybe they'll get a hat one day....

Scarcity isn't defined by the magnitude of the supply. It is merely a function of the rate at which the existing supply can be expanded over time. (Stock To Flow)
Using this measure, #Bitcoin is the most scarce asset in the world.
