- China is shutting down internet in Wuhan.

From an old China hand:

Quote
Don’t listen to what the Chinese government says, but pay close attention to what the Chinese government does

This suggests that the situation is very bad and getting worse. Maybe an uprising starting.

*edit* can we please get a source for the shutdown.  I am having trouble independently confirming this.

It’s starting to really piss me off now.

We haven’t had any stock delivered for about 6 weeks now (includes the time they had off for Chinese New Year).

I don't think she's trying to "hurt people" so much as make a statement about reproductive rights.
That could end up having millions of men forcibly castrated, essentially. This is not what a joke or a statement looks like.

USA looks like a bargain compared to  the others. The only dealbreaker is, you get taxed twice if your income is outside of the US. I don't know if there are other countries doing this.

Don't forget many a place has state income taxes and the property taxes can be mind blowing. It might be tens of thousands of dollars per year for a fancy house that would be zero or a $1-3000 in other countries.

By the time you equal everything out there's probably not a vast amount in it between most developed places, apart from Scandinavia of course.

I'm just gonna leave this here. https://whnt.com/news/proposed-bill-would-require-men-in-alabama-to-get-vasectomy/

Link doesn't seem to work for IPs outside the US, but it speaks for itself anyway. Cliffnotes from what I was told, men over 50 or who has 3 kids would be required to become infertile via surgery if this passes.

However poorly conceived, its a joke.

An Alabama lawmaker fed up with her colleagues' attempts to outlaw abortion has filed legislation to require all men over 50 to get vasectomies.

Democratic Rep. Rolanda Hollis said Friday that she introduced the bill to send "the message that men should not be legislating what women do with their bodies."

https://abc7news.com/5944620/

It would be funny if it passed, however, I don't think that it will.
Okay, but it's still an actual attempt at making it a law right? Meaning less of a joke and more of a spiteful communist trying to hurt people.

Just saw this post elsewhere on the forum. Makes you feel good, no?

To be part of the 1% of the richest in the world when it comes to Bitcoin you only need 0.28 Bitcoin . - According to Jake Levison

As we know the bitcoin just has a limited supply and only 2% of the bitcoin address could have a 1Bitcoin or more, earning this 0.28, in my opinion, will be difficult for most of the users.

Surely a lot of people hold more than 1 bitcoin in their wallets but the number of people who own 1bitcoin is between 500k to 1million.
As of Jan. 14 we already have 784,000address that owns 1 bitcoin or more. The number is already had an 11% increase from 707,000 that is recorded a year ago. In 2015 has more than doubled. Most of the addresses came from exchanges and big player "whales" that usually hold a big amount of bitcoin.

The reason behind this decision is that the exchange is not able to satisfy the customers’ needs when it comes to the security of the funds and other related issues. This news has come as a shock to many has attracted all sorts of reactions.

RIP TradeSatoshi, wonder why they’re closing down. I don’t see any reason how an exchange can go bust unless they’ve had a really bad hack.

Time will tell, it can be an undercover hack, the explanations are quite confusing.

Those are regular income taxes, not capital gains which is what should apply to Bitcoin profits. Also, max rate doesn't mean anything. It is way more important to check the corresponding tax for each income bracket. I.e. In Spain you need to earn a lot to reach that 45%. In Denmark it seems you reach the max pretty easily.

The real bitch of a problem in all this is to find a place where people speak proper english.

that rules out the USA for you then (not that i think thats on your list btw).
Honestly Romania is looking better and better. Communism is illegal, you can live in a castle cheaper than a danish apartment, beautiful girls and everything is cheap, and their language appears to be reasonable to learn, and they speak decent to good english anyway. Couple months till my eastern europe tour, just hope corona-chan doesn't get all the borders closed before then.

All true ...but the bureaucracy is killer; a holdover from the communist era.  You need papers and papers need translations, legalization, (sometimes) superlegalization, notorization and stamps but you cant pay for the stamps at the place you get the stamp, you have to pay somewhere else where you are issued a receipt... you ask a question and they are happy to oblige but when you get to the office you were told had what you need, you find out that the helpful person didnt know what they were talking about OR maybe they did and the person at the office you've arrived at just sucks at their job... and everything happens a little slower than you'd expect and then some.

I find taxes that high seem unreasonably high. It's a shame to pay the tax twice, it's a robbery!

A Bitcoiner chooses. A slave obeys.
Good morning Bitcoinland.

The battle for $10k rages on. Now we're about halfway back after Wednesday's big dip... currently $9757USD/$12935CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

We're a month away from springtime (northern hemisphere) and the halving is only a few weeks after that. In the meantime, we can enjoy the show with contented anticipation.

Go Bitcoin go.

Can't make heads or tails of the current market. We are either going up again after bouncing off the current support or we are dropping to 9000. We should see on the 23rd or 24th of this month a more clear direction. Either way, market is still too overbought for longing.

In any case, it was all acquired in 2012, so it's a few years before the crime was committed, and should not have been seized.

Then later the official part begins where they seize bank accounts, real estate, automobiles, etc. This is where good lawyers might block or reverse the seizures. The onus is generally on the accused to prove the assets were acquired through legal channels.

Yup, that's worldwide practise. And since he probably bought it with CASH and he is now a known convicted "drug" seller he will have a VERY hard time proving the money he used to buy those Bitcoins did come from legal "channels" and the source was "clean" money... hence the "fishing rod" accident.

This is why Bitcoin is so awesome. It creates a truly free market. And if people learn better OPSEC, the money will always be theirs.

LOL

In most many places the cops simply take everything they find and don't report it. This includes cash, electronics, jewelry, personal items, anything the individual officers might fancy for themselves. There is no accountability.

The cops must be fuming over this one.    Cheesy
