I use local version of MEW - mycrypto. It's an application from the MEW developers. It allow to make any transfer and look any tokens include ERC20, ERC721 and the same. This project was developed by part of the MEW team that left old project. And today their project looks amazing. I don't use MEW today because of phishing, dns spoofing etc.
if i use myetherwallet.com as wallet ethereum, as it is safe and fast. then myetherwallet.com also supports ERC20, so in addition to this wallet ethereum can also be other altcoin wallet that uses the standard ERC20. 
Hardware wallet are the best, Metamask and imtoken wallet are secured too, but i prefer hardware wallet like trezor or ledger nano wallet most secured and reliable.

myetherwallet is one of the best option. and i know most of the people use it. it looks safe but you should be sure that the computer you use is totally clean. and you should not install any add-ons to your browser while you are connecting to your wallet.
It is great that the wallet for ethereum has been already in the market so that many people can obtained a better life and convenience for their own benefit as well.
