Instead of devoting so much resources on useless alts it might be better to focus on the good stuff! Otherwise you are just wasting your time! There are a lot of "gems" in the alt coins, you just gotta find em!

Interesting, thanks.  I guess the only reason people fall for it is they're blinded by greed?

How do these altcoin IPOs even work?  I don't understand what people are buying.  Are all the coins premined and you're just buying them for no reason?

Yes i think that sums it up.

as in mining is avoided.
and i am against non mined coins no matter what term they want to call them..
angel invested or crowd funded or IPO or crowd sourced or ICO or or ...

all of it i think basically means i can for example..
sit at home and fork Litecoin and say mine LTC on my home computer until i have say 2 million coins.
then i can go post a sale for them on an exchange or on the forum etc.
and guys can have additional mining later or POS staking or what ever but i still see the important part as the initial distribution as the key.

the user Oracle digitalindustry had some really good break downs and explanations of the type of scammy initial distribution methods on his site/blog !
he is way better at explaining it all than i can ever be and i would say check out his articles if you can.
i will see if i can find a specific link to the breakdown article he wrote i am thinking off for you all.. it was really impressive stuff !

edit:
i am asking the guy for the link to it..

no, best thing people should do is grow a fucking brain and give no money until no product. I have nothing against IPOs. But people investing in just fancy lines of text and shiny pictures is beyond retarded and makes me think there is loads of 10 year olds here for a quick buck. I have had immense losses of these scams all over the place. took me 5BTC to learn life lesson of not buying these complete shit coins which are released everyday.

You can't stop IPOs. people need to grow fucking brains.

jeez i can't even explain how tired i am trying to explain to guys like you here the facts.
i don't mean to jump on you specifically but lol
..i have seen your comment all over crypto forever  Cry

i know how this stuff works well i have discussed it all at great length every single day basically going on two years.
and this with Pool guys to coin devs to exchange operators to the same old guys here that have been in on 1,000 coins.
and the same old excuse gets thrown out..

- they know but they don't care.. they make money doing it.
- nobody basically is getting tricked.. they know EXACTLY what they are doing !

they all try and justify their behavior but it all amounts to damaging the entire Crypto scene including Bitcoin
so you can mine just one more clone coin for one more Bitcoin profit..

it really shows the nativity of guys that say that.
the whole routine of poor noobs being suckered into shit coins is a load of bullshit.

so the whole routine of having to lecture them to do the right thing is a laughable waste of time.
laughable as in they are smarter than you playing dumb lining their pockets quietly behind the scenes
putting the onus on the noobs that come here.. making the noobs look dumber than they are while spending YEARS lining their pockets with clone profits.

greedy sleazy deceitful people passing the buck onto others.
and i can assure you all if they succeed in killing off Crypto they will not be around to say "i told you so" to !
they will rip someone off for as much as they can before they leave the rest of us the clone coin mess to deal with.
(such as a small user base with dying coin values and massive losses across crypto and looming heavy regulation)

"They need to be educated" is saying i don't really know what is going on around the scene.
open your eyes !

if you don't believe me either guys i will start quoting well known guys in crypto who lined up to feed me the same excuse word for word.. over & over
such as "i mine every coin that comes along just in case"
and when i say ya but it's a bad coin for the health of crypto..
they all unanimously say..

but, I Made 2 or 3 Bitcoin profit etc.

anyway lol

@nutildah, you said..

Quote
meaning I am with you "in spirit."

That is cool we need more guys like you you are willing to stand up and take a stand and have their voice heard Smiley
i honestly believe it helps the situation if people speak up.
If all of us against crappy scammy coins keep quiet it pretty much makes it seem like we approve of them.
big difference between us all staying in silence vs grabbing pitch forks and torches fro a mob LOL
i may have suggested an Attack pool.. but lets get real we know that is not happening ahahha ..i just wanna scare these scammy pricks  Grin
and i would gladly settle for guys just taking a stand and speaking up Smiley

If this altcoin section didn't exist then the rest of the forum would be flooded and cluttered with altcoin bullshit.

This is bitcointalk not a altcointalk.

crap coins make supporters the most money..
so they follow the money.

and they will even support good coins sometimes but when profits go down they bolt and vanish leaving the coin to die.

which also means education is not going to work.. you have to take these guys down by force and we need idea guys !
I really like the attack pool idea to anonymously 51% coins but mining is sort of last year now and IPO / Full premine scams are all the rage.  Roll Eyes

Why don't we start a list of good coins and have people gravitate towards that!

I wrote this a while back and I think it is still quite relevant:

it's simple. Stop investing in crap without escorw. We are in a free market. Go to wallstreet if you want regulation or justice.

Bitcointalk not doing anything shows that they are ok with scams. Maybe mods here have been involved in scamming people who knows. people are ignoring how much this forum plays a rol in scams being pulled. Allowing scams and people losing money is not ok and bitcointalk is the gateway for such things happening. Sooner or later regulators will close this site if it goes too far.

I hope Staff and the owner consider the perception that we ALL see.

I know for a fact i would be faaar more willing to click the DONATE button on the top left of the screen had i thought
this place had a more fair slant towards US, the end users.. vs the clone coin posters and scammers.

WE the USERS feel like the staff here are protecting the scammers and leaving end-users hanging out to dry vulnerable to scammers.
More could be done !
And more users may also be inclined to hit that button Staff Wink

think about it Smiley

I think Bitcointalk should do something about it ASAP since it's even hurting Bitcoin, people are ignoring how much this forum plays a rol in scams being pulled.

this is a good point !
and i was thinking about this aspect after i last commented here last night..

let me start off by saying i appreciate the boss giving us all this forum to talk etc.
i think it's theymos who is the big boss man ?
i and others all too often criticize and bash this place endlessly but after all of it the boss has kept the lights on.

so i want to a say a very sincere thanks for the service here.

and.. the negativity that swirls around this place and crypto in general all over comes from people who abuse this service.
i know many mods would probably like to ban a suspected scammer but their hands are tied by the rules they have to enforce.
i was kind of hard on the mods on Digi's ban topic the other day ranting on staff here for random bannings..
and that leads me straight to my intended point i planned on making here today..

It would be nice if the slant in moderation was geared towards our favor !
those of use who are vocal against scam coin cloning type of crap. (and there is a difference between an old member with 1 account vs a 1 post noob)
i don't think it should be a 50/50 type of thing where scammers get equal protection.
See what i mean ?
Like a bias of 75% anti-scam and 25% scammers protection is the way it should be i think.
So rather than letting scammers have seemingly full free rain to post/bump shit non stop advertising for example (a clear example of rule violating Spamming)
we should be given a LOT of leeway to tell these assholes to fuck off etc.. let us Troll them or what ever. LOL
why make it a nice comfortable protected cozy little environment for scammers and ban us like a broken record who are agaisnt them ?

i will add that we don't see who is getting banned, so i have to go by a perception i get and by guys admitting they were banned etc.
but there is no doubt at all the "turds in the punch bowl" are watched and the ban hammer hovers over there head at all times.

i say.. FUD first and ask questions later !

These new coin posters in no way deserve the benefit of the doubt *anymore.
we should assume first they are scams and the onus is on them to prove other wise !
we should not be banned because we were challenging them and skirting on the edge of some rules here.
we should be given leeway to skid along the rules a bit (more than we already get now) and not the other way around with scammers.. 60 / 40 us guys FOR us not them !

also..

Exchanges need to stop adding IPO/ICO coins NOW !

THAT would be a huge massive blow to their scammy bullshit..
but they want cash $$$ - Altcoins to bitcoin to Fiat while making it seem like they are crypto supporters..
their not.

Exchanges offer crypto little more than a centralized security risk helping to pad THEIR wallets.
in the future i hope they don't even exist.. we shouldn't have let the balance of power go ALL to exchanges and their greedy secret antics.

this is not what it was suppose to be about guys.. it was SUPPOSE to be about a digital-currency.
Not a system for digital-ponzi schemes that would make Berni Madoff and Martha Stewart Proud !

Scammers / coin cloners etc are NOT entitled to anything.. they don't have a right to scam people for money !
If there was the same regulation in Crypto as the American stock market it would not have gotten this bad and many of these guys would be in jail Right Now !
..many that have continued to scam again and again because there is not stopping them.

Altcoin section can stay, but the announcement section needs to go away, sometimes regulation is a good thing. In this case to not allow scammers, criminals get what they want by regulating or deleting the announcement section. Arguments such as 'it's a free market' are retarded, scammers shouldn't be allowed, because it ruins Bitcoin and Cryptos reputation and makes peoples lose tons of money and make these scammers richer and atm this forum choses to pick the scammers side which will eventually get shut down.

I also agree with you 100%. However, the [ANN] section gets more traffic than almost the entire rest of the site combined, which means it brings in most of the advertising money for the forum.

Then the owners are not less than the scammers here since they support the announcements section where all the scams happen, but all it does is ruining crypto, but the owners of this forum don't give a shit anyway. Like someone else said there are tons of drug coins there/coming which only gets the attention of regulators which will get this site to shut down.

Alternative Cryptocurrency section should be removed from Bitcointalk but then the site owner would lose a lot of ad revenue. Bitcointalk owners are doing whats good for their bank accounts and not whats good for Bitcoin. Let the altcoins create their own sites and forums. The altcoin section has served its purpose and now its time for it to go.

I agree with you 100%, however as you pointed out, the alt section isn't going anywhere.

The altcoins that are actually succeeding already have their own forums and could survive without this one.

@Spoetnik: I can't offer technical resources but I can offer you spiritual ones... meaning I am with you "in spirit."
