Actually covid 19 is not considered as a challenge if you are part of the compulsive gamblers who will do their best just to make sure that they will able to play different gambling games. A lot of casinos decided to close and limit their customers because of the health regulations that they needed to follow but it doesn't mean that the compulsive gamblers will just stop playing because they saw a new opportunities and it is the booming of online gambling especially the casinos. In my country, cock fighting became more popular when pandemic happens and I read a research about it that many more people who became interested to it when pandemic happens. For me even we successfully overcome the Covid, the data about it will maintain or it can increase more.

It will stay because gambling is fun, the pandemic has become a way for people to be more resourceful in the internet, and luckily they found gambling especially crypto gambling and that really help this industry to survive and boom even at the situation where majority of us are struggling financially.

This pandemic brings a lot of changes in so many circumstances in life, due to this virus the health protocol has been implemented in any casino gambling which results in having few numbers gamblers inside the casino so most of gamblers now are more active in online gambling because they have nothing to do with their home, just like me when boredom hits me I play to be entertained and to earn some money but sometimes still ends up losing money.
If ever the virus has been solved I don't think that the statistics of gamblers will decrease because 1 year is too long and if you have played for that time it is hard to remove it from you right away.

Add campaigns were also heavy on TV, internet and other. Do you think that this trend is here to stay or people will gamble less once COVID is better solved.

I do think that this trend will continue even if COVID is solved.

Remember, scientists are speculating that the world will return to its normal state by 5-7 years from now once majority of the globe population has been vaccinated. In addition, with the ongoing new strains of COVID, this will become longer to the point that most people will become accustomed to online gambling.

Personally, even if COVID is solved, I still would be skeptical about going out. Maybe it's just that online gambling has become more convenient in a way that you are safe in your personal space.

I do not see there is a connection/relation now with the covid. In the beginning there surely was, but it looks like that all events have resumed again on all sports.

Gambling business and activity has increased heavily during COVID. No wonder, more free time (forced sometimes), less social life and a bit of you only live once.

The trend will still exist this year and the next years since the advertisers see the chance to get more members or people to join with them will be bigger if they use the internet. When they can use the internet, that means they will be able to reach more customers to use their services or join with them to help them increase their income in the future. While COVID is not going to end in the short term, they can still use the internet to continue promoting their services, and they can ask for help from the publisher to gain more members.

Well looking at this graph it is also clear, that the whole online gambling sector was growing every year from 2009 on. And the increase from 2019 to 2020 is only marginally bigger than in the years before.
I think maybe in 2021 we will see a bigger increase now that the pandemic is going on for over a year now and people become more and more bored the longer they are not able to do outside acitivities.
I also hope we don't get a new wave of gambling addicts due to covid.

This is awesome for the online gambling industry, they deserve the business coming their way. In my opinion this going to stay like this in the future. People are getting more used to gambling from home and will likely not stop once the pandemic is over. It is so easy to do and once you have your accounts setup and made a profit, you will always come back.

One good thing the rise of online gambling is having on us is that casinos can over a lot of more promotions. The higher the casino earnings the better the deposit bonuses. I noticed this last year in my poker casinos that started to over a lot of free sit and go games if you deposit money again. Just winning one of those tables was already enough to make decent profit.

I think deep every person is a gambler as everyone has to take decisions in life. This situation just brought this on top and made more people come into gambling. Most of these people I think are trying gambling with the hope to get a jackpot and solve their lives but no one achieves this. They slowly become addicted. With the pandemic going way we may see some improvement to this behavior.

Definitely not!
It's not just matter of virus and restrictions but this is something really different because nowadays we have bigger and bigger infrastructure (and website) that could manage easily a wave of new gamblers!
Probably COVID19 has just "push up"  development of online betting/casino, giving fuel to a sector that was already growing massively.

I noticed that there was a traffic spike because March/April last year were the months I made the most money playing poker in years. I could tell there were some bored people at home who didn't know how to play and decided to play poker while having a few beers.

Boredsme really brings you to explore more and like what you have said, there are people who find gambling as good source
of entertainment and relaxations. There's a big volumes of traffic coming from this types of people who find the internet to be
more useful during this pandemic season.

Quote
As to whether it will end, I think it will normalize. The boom will stop, and we will enter a flatter era because people will go out more, but some of those who did not play before March 2020 are now used to it and are part of the customer base.

Maybe yes, those who can go and live normal will resume from how they find enjoyment the normal ways, some might
continue to play but not that much the same as it use during the lockdown.

Quote
So I think the traffic will be a little higher than before March 2020. This is for countries that recover well economically. Those that enter into a deep economic crisis may not.

If compared to march 2020, the traffic will increase but continually that's still questionable since we don't know how
people will embrace the idea of keep playing the game or they'll just use their time and money to more wiser way.

Once a Person Got Hooked iN gambling for sure this will be harder to stops , and this is the scenario i see on these situation because those people that got enjoyed Playing because of the pandemic will surely find way even when they become busy again from work to Play and try their luck in gambling.
I should known this because i am in the same Place now where i enjoyed the presence of Online gambling since the lockdown starts and now as i return back to work and my normal life? i always try to sneak from my Wife to play shortwhile , and i even hide some extra funds to play because She hates gambling now as a brother of Her becomes addicted and broke His own family recently .
that triggers Her to Prevent me from excessive gambling in which hard for me to follow.

Pugs are the best!
They would probably start going into land-based casinos to see the difference between virtual and actual gambling. I believe a lot of people have been utilizing online gambling to pass the time and enjoy while staying at the house. Most of the people I know who regularly visit land-based casinos have been gambling online. They said that it has become comfortable to gamble in their homes and prevent exposure to other people.

In some ways, they are often going to stay like this if they are comfortable or maybe explore another option. We still can't verify since it's still a pandemic.
I guess some of these gamblers will probably visit casino once the pandemic is over but I think on most occasion, people will likely stay with online gambling especially that they already have first hand experience due to pandemic.
Just as iv4n stated above, for us it's different as we already started gambling online long before pandemic and most of us prefer it that way rather than going to physical casinos.

Based on the graph provided by OP, gambling numbers continues to climb whether the pandemic happened or not and it will continue that way especially now that the gambling are as convenient as going online. Still there would be more gamblers who would prefer to gamble offline as there are certain aspect that they can use to better their chances such as card games.

For some of us, it was the opposite, we got into crypto gambling after land-based casinos! Long before pandemic! Smiley

Globally the number of internet users increased from only 413 million in 2000 to over 3.4 billion in 2016

With or without this pandemic the numbers are rising!

We can start from our own examples here, in some way each of us here is an internet fanatic for a shorter or longer period, and I think for many of us there' no going back. It's the same for all others... now they found out about all the benefits of the internet and online activities, people will rather stay home!

I bet the numbers will keep rising in the next years... again with or without pandemics! Of course, locking people down will speed up the process!

There's no wonder that the online gambling activity has increased during covid times. The reasons you have mentioned, is true! People are having more free and unproductive time which many have used for gambling to try out their luck! So if the covid situation normalizes, we will definitely see a reduction in such gambling activities. Once people are allowed to join offices and visit public places, such activities are bound to reduce. However, gambling houses will also win new clients at this time, who will continue to gamble even after the world normalizes. So it's a win-win situation for both. Assume, if 100 new players have joined gambling during the lockdown period, at least 20% will stay in this field even after the world normalizes. Some people will get busier and leave gambling and some people will continue with gambling even after they get busier. So it's a new business for the gambling houses for sure!

Since vaccine is already available for this 2021 then i can say that there's already some decrease.Physical casinos had opened their doors which means those players can already again access or go again into those physical places which means less people would play online.COVID is still here to stay but since cure and vaccines is already avialable then we might be gradually switching back to our normal lives once again.
When it comes to demand then it would be diverted and would really be equaled again just like before.
It is not as simple, once a person gets used to do something it keeps doing it without thinking too much about it, during the pandemic there was a surge on the number and intensity of addictions as people tried to find ways to cope with the long weeks and months with minimal contact with other persons, so even if it seems we are at the beginning stages of the pandemic finally being solved it is going to be hard for all of these people to drop their gambling habits when they have been engaging in it for so long.

they continue to enjoy their fun online rather than going to physical casinos and catch covid. it will probably continue this way even when pandemic ends. there is just much comfort in playing online than having to go there. when the traditional casino's website had been turned into online casino and release an app for their partisans to download, they turned them into an online gambler.

I believed Covid-19 has reset the way of life of people even with ease of lockdowns and restrictions after improvement of the pandemic a lot of gamblers are already accustomed to online casinos and placing bet online it will a long time before gamblers embrace offline casinos.
Covid-19 had revolutionized our ways of life and it going take a long period of time before people returns to their old habits of doing things physically.
