Woah how did I miss this update, Netherlands is a beautiful place to visit and on top of it Bitcoins as payment is awesome. This is a landmark step in the Bitcoin industry and if this works out well others will follow, dubai uses blockchain technology no update if Bitcoins has been updated in it. The swizz have started using it. A school in Delhi that is in India is using it. I feel the global economy and countries are finally getting the hang of Bitcoin and it's about time when one country decides to make it their official currency. Then there a mall online you can use Bitcoin for or buy vouchers of so many places using Bitcoins.

I would say this a major step and its something I am happy about but in as much as we give credit to those guys that started the movement over there we should also not be unmindful of the role government plays in making that a success, because without that, I am sure they won't have gone far and that is the problem we are having over here as government has come out to "we are not recommending this and if you do, you are doing at your own risk" that will make such movement likely impossible over here...

I do not know if a city with a estimated population of +/- 200 000 people would be sustainable to support continues Bitcoin use? I live in a much bigger city and the merchants already complain that they are not getting enough business for them to continue accepting Bitcoin as a payment option.

Arnhem is a tourist location, so I hope our fellow Bitcoiners will support this initiative on their next holiday. ^smile^

Decentralization bitcoin appear in public only directly proportional to government's attitude toward cryptocurrency, and countries in EU have a positive view about it.

Netherlands considers bitcoin is not included in the scope of the law on financial supervision (Wet op het financieel toezicht), and decided bitcoin accepted as a means of payment, but it is not defined as a common currency, digital currency and legal tender.

Arnhem world's most Bitcoin friendly  city located in Netherlands, you can buy everything with bitcoin in it.

They went on a mission to convince local bars and restaurant owners to accept bitcoin payments. At the opening at May 28th 2014, 15 places accepted bitcoins. Since then, more and more shop owners joined them so you can buy a greater diversity of products and pay with Bitcoin in Arnhem.

...

Well that is good news.  But, how good?

Well, to answer that, I hope that we can get some feedback from people who actually have been to Arnhem recently (or better yet LIVE there) and hear their experiences.

Has anyone actually been there?  Please tell us of your BTC experiences.

Satoshi Nakamoto does not like to create another Nation State as you said Bitcoin Country. Satoshi Nakamoto do not advocate to create any nation-country. He does not  advocate for monarchism or anarchism because he has laid down the foundation of Sonarchism with Bitcoin and Blockchain to save mankind from the nation-state immoderate foreign policy. He want to save mankind from another Nuclear Holocast that could destroy every one and every thing on this planet. So want to dismantle all the nuclear warhead and transform it to create electricity to mine Digital Electronic Currency. Imagine, if we could manage to buy up all the nuclear warhead and dismantle it all together or advice the UN to do it to protect the planet from destruction by squiring all the nuclear warhead from those nation-state countries. It will be best for the future generation to live without fear. So Bitcoin will create a global platform to achieve a success that we all human wish for and dream of a war free common world where every body has a fair share. He also suggested to all the Bitcoin community people not to cite any illogical statements like the anarchist does. We want to build a good relation with every government to do our part to assist the government to create a better world using Blockchain technology and Bitcoin system of financial tool. This is a prudential advice from the real Satoshi Nakamoto. Do not believe any false statements from any one come in my Japanese Robotic name. Therefore use all the Bitcoin transaction in legimate business venture only. Do not follow the footstep of any bad leaders who is doing bad thing using Bitcoin to reduce the good reputation of Bitcoin technology.

Imagine a decentralized country Cheesy Cheesy sadly though infrastructures are expensive to maintain especially in EU, but lets imagine in a city you could spend cryptocurrencies or just bitcoin, but those who are selling or providing services are paying with fiat to buy themselves in bulk.
Imo what bitcoin truly needs to have a significant effect on millions of people is a man who can provide some exclusive and unique service or item only in exchange for bitcoin that way many people will have to engage with crypto even if not by first choice.

Its good to know that theres a city existing at the moment and obviously bitcoin adapters are mostly in the first world country but hoping in the next years to come we can see many establishments even in 3rd world countries would adapt bitcoin seriously so that bitcoin will strive until we can see its full potential on our economy.

Great news. The Dutch really are welcoming of new developments. It would be nice if at least one city in my country would go this way. Our central bank has already released a statement saying they accept bitcoins as a legal way of money transfer. I suppose it would be hard for an entire country to be completely bitcoin-friendly but just having bitcoin supported in the larger metropolises would be a good change.

I checked the map in their site and the list. I was impressed because there is really several number of stores - food, clothes, hotels, services shops and more. I also find their payment processor great (Bitkassa) which offers its payment service for free (as of now, but there might be changes in the near future). I don't know any Bitcoin place yet here in our City that's why I don't have a recommendation. Thanks for sharing this one.

I just know about it, look like a dream land of bitcoiners to spend Bitcoin at will and free from fiat money (if you want to).
It won't be easy to convince all of those business owners to accept bitcoin if they don't know how it works unless the system of exchange rate already covered by them (who started this idea).
Nice articles man, thanks for share. I will read all of it and looking for more articles, this island really matter for bitcoin development.

At first I thought it's a small town with population under 20,000, so it wasn't a big deal to convince almost every place there to accept Bitcoin. But then I googled it. Wow! Arnhem's population is over 150,000 and it is one of the largest cities of the Netherlands. Good job, guys! That's a great example for all of us to follow.

Yes. I think so. If they've turned the town into a BTC city, its not impossible after all to turn more and more town to accept bitcoin for their daily spending. Its going to be a challenge but still worth the try because it will help BTC in the end and also to the crypto.

There is a remittance service in our country that accepts btc to pay our utility bills but I think they are going to cash out btc into cash and pay our bills, this is nothing compare to the actual sending BTC to a btc address to pay. Maybe someday we can do this in our country.

this sounds great, and i wish people in my country/city were showing more acceptance towards bitcoin so that we could have it here too.
the only other place that i know of (which i think we can call it bitcoin country) is Switzerland that they have lots of bitcoin ATMs and also the best thing is that you can buy bitcoin from every machine in every train station the same way you buy a ticket!
