Thank you OP for sharing this experience with us, it shows that it's not good to go around talking anyhow to people just because you feel that way, words are very powerful and can cause a lot of harm if not used properly and I her case she put herself in a difficult situation because of that, even the bible did want us about how important it is to tame the tongue.

Another thing I would also warn us about is how quick we can be to lay curses or insults to our children or siblings without minding that we hurt their feelings this can later lead to low self esteem in children.

OP, i it is good to control our tongue when necessary not all the time because sometimes it is good that we speak out or make clarification in a discussion for better purposes. The thing is most persons do not know when to say things they are being triggered by emotions, anxiety or insecurity. And it has caused them a lot of damages. In the case of this police issue, its something that would not have gone too far up to this extend. And by the way they were not talking to him directly, even if he had remembered his encounter with any police officer or military personnel he should have just kept quite.

I think we should think multiple twice before any words comes out of our mouth. There are people who listen to every words and takes it so serious even if it was spoken out of jokes. Maybe that police man was someone like that and he felt insulted that is why he wants to use that persons as an example to others. At least you learnt something that day and the other persons in the vehicle also learnt as well. Next time you wont repeat what that guy did, so you see the lesson he wants to make out of that guy made you shared this topic with us.

Our tongue small ehn but na e dey powerful pass, we fit kill person through our tongue or we fit enter big problem self through this our tongue, which is very bad, no wonder the bible say " Life and Death are in the power of our tongue" because of the kind things wey our tongue dey do. So make we mind the way we dey talk because wetin we feel say e no matter, na that thing dey matter pass, so mk we dey mindful with our words

Some time we need to keep quiet, is not to just talk without reasoning wetin we want talk. Let use this examples and teach you guys something, one we travelling  so as we were going we reach a checkpoint were the police say let the driver give him 500 naira so  the driver say  he dont have  then the police went back to the car and saw those fake fuel and told the driver that go see wetin e dey carry for back of the motor and the driver said that is garri.LOL.why it was this fake fuel. Do the police enter inside the motor and wanted to park it so one woman  inside now started shouting oga e don tell you say na garri wetin u still dey do now, even though say na burkerring no be all of oo na dey do am, na so the police verse slap the woman. So na why  sometime we need to they reason before we talk.

The girls jam talk and should will learn in the hard just like very dark man were no use freedom of speech well were police done pick him for over a week now, this is how it supposed to be and every citizens should at least mind they business and only say what they have fact about and not just based on assumptions or stereotyping.

Most time when you are at a police check point or any check point for that matter, you need to act with ultimate respect to the officers on duty and mind what we talks a matter of fact we should keep silent and never ulter any statement until we have a legal adviser that can interpret and guide our statements, because those officers are5 Mobile law that is to say anything you say or do will always be used against in the court of law and this girl in the story is going to serve punishment for that unlawful speech.

I believe that everyone suffers with it at times, and that with practice, we can all improve. This is especially crucial in today's environment, since social media and the internet allow our thoughts to be magnified effortlessly. One careless statement may be repeated and disseminated far and wide, with unexpected repercussions we could never have anticipated. So the lack of face-to-face connection also removes some of the social indicators that would typically help us be more conscious of how our words are perceived, because it is easier to mistake a person's voice or purpose when conversing via text rather than in person. So assuming the girl controlled her tongue, she wouldn't have found herself in that situation.

At all cost you should try to control and good communication skills when talking to people,most especially the a force agent which is on duty.you should know how to control your communication and tunes of words,sometimes you need to allow them to do there duty since you are at there post.but I have watch videos where boys drives and speeds to pass Chechnya point without been check by force man on duty. So when I see some officer been aggressive to the youth or some driver I don’t complain about it because.there have seen a lot of that l.

The tongue is an abundant speaking tool which literally tends to utter our innermost fellings with the possibilities to indict and put us to problems if carelessly and mindlessly unwatchful on rapport with others people.
Infact, it is either a self defence or serves against selves defenses. So it is necessary if we must take control of our tongues if we must talk in communications with others

Your anecdote say it all. People need to take note. You know, most times, there is no need to jump into conversations, especially when you're not included. Also, I find it expedient to refrain from replying someone even if he/she makes a sly comment or angles a mocking word towards you, because some people are just troublesome, they're just waiting to know what you have to say. And I believe that the best response you can give to a fool most times is just silence (nothing more, nothing less).

The tongue  is very powerful,  the tongue fit put man for problem wey be say man fit lose him life, the wey man too present is tongue fit make ahm obtained favour from other people. Well in this case I will say it's a nice topic there.. we should control our tongue at all time, I had an experience over this topic last week, I was in my business place when two guys came in, although they wanted to cut their hair, so they started talking about asari business saying how the government normally attack them whenever they are in their work so they never knew I was barbing an army guys hair, the man was just busy making a phone call... calling his colleges before I could knew whats happening 4 army guys came in my shop and took them out of the shop...so any where you dea no dea talk pass wetin u no know, abeg make we dea try dea control our tongue abeg

Normally dis country wey we dey so,police fit use the slightest thing detain person.Although the girl talk truth oh.....dem say the truth is bitter,that word wey she tell the policemen really pain dem.Just dat na the tongue wey she no control nai put her for problem.Now to control the tongue sef hard sha, because e get some kind talk wey we go talk maybe na anger make u talk am,later on u go con dey reason say ah.....na me talk dat kind thing.God go help us sha make we fit dey control the tongue.Dis tongue wey we dey see na one kind small organ but e fit lift u up and e fit still bring person down.So make we try dey control our tongue and dey behave well for public.

You are so lucky that your truck worked for you and believe me you won't be this lucky all the time. Truth is the police in this country is so corrupt and there nothing that seems like there is a change or reform coming anytime soon. Also not everybody has the time to go through all the process of going to court and whatever, because you go pay lawyer wey go carry your mata for head. This is the problem we are facing in our country. Naija people have that mentality. You said some have experienced a situation where you will see a policeman with a pos in case they catch any Yahoo boys. I have questions for you. Did you encounter such experiences before? If yes, where is your evidence?

 All this there is saying about the corruption of the armed forces in Nigeria, most especially the police. Yes, we know that some police are corrupt, but even though you know you will never say it because you have no evidence, let me tell you my experience on that. I have ever broken a law by following one way with my bike, not knowing that someone in security was waiting for me when they seized my bike. I was like, This is a mistake. One of them requested some token so that I could just give it to them and go. I said I didn’t have anything to give them, which made them so angry, and they took the bike to the office without hesitation. I asked for their office address. After I reached there, the first person I went to direct was the DPO. He said that I must bail out my bike. I asked how much he said, 3k. I said if I paid, would I be given a receipt? He said no. That is, when I use my brain, someone is definitely trying to use me. I told him that in the constitution of Nigeria. Even though I committed the offence, I will just be taking it to court and paying a fine, which will not be more than 100 naira. He asked me if I was a student. I said yes from the law department, which is just a lie. He just called an office. I told him to give me my key so that I could go. You see, some people fall victim to such things because they don’t know their rights or where to prove them. That is just the issue because if the DPO identifies that I am lying, I know I will suffer, but what made him believe it was that I have an ID card in my pocket and the ID card ribbon is showing from my shirt pocket. That is what made him believe it.

Smiles, police harassment in this country can not be over emphasise, it's now a culture that we should get use to unless an only if you are equal to the opposition because to every action there is equal an opposite reaction, third law of motion.

As humans we really need to learn if wetin we dey utter from our mouth if e go lead us to problems when we talk people,  some people no just even care they feel they can just open their mouth and say whatever they want to say and nothing will happen.  Sometimes we don't really know people we are talking to, if they dont have power to do deal with you in physical they can go as far to do even if it means spiritual just to make sure they deal with you.

To be honest she was just speaking the truth, but you see, no one would want to say his mother's food isn't sweet. So even if that is the basic truth about our Nigerian police you don't get to talk to them in such manner except, you have where to fall back to should in case anything happens, even if we gossip them behind their backs, standing in front of a police man and accusing him so such manner is something that can get you into really big trouble. But at the end all they need for those anger is just bri, just give Dem small change and Dem go let you go come even give u premium advise join am

It is better we learn this now instead of  making same mistake this girl made and learn things the hard way. Not just to uniform men alone but when interacting with people both outsiders and those we already associate with.
It is best we keep shot and listen attentively than always wanting to talk even when it doesn't warrant our voice to be heard. We ought to rethink in our head if what we about to voice out will make us look guilty or is inappropriate to the listeners to avoid us being used as a scape goat.

Our utterances are responsible for most of the problems we find ourselves,no be lie..we should at all times check with our inner self if what we are about saying will make harm or good. E get some kind English wey  person go wan speak sometimes, but sake of say you no go like fall hands,you go cross check am for inside before you talk.that’s how we should cross check everything we say when in the midst of people because what hurts the next person might be as little as calling someone ‘yam head’ even in a playful tone,people read and reacts to things differently. To you, somethings really don’t matter,whiles to some other person, it’s disrespectful.so in all our dealings with people, casually or jokingly, one should make it a compulsory attitude to cross check words with inner self and control your speeches.
