I was traveling from Port Harcourt to Bayelsa state yesterday afternoon, we go to a police check point and it was the Federal Sars men that stopped us. While they were doing their lawful duty of searching the vehicle and the passengers in it, a girl that was sitting behind me made a comment and the officer that was conducting the search heard her loud and clear. She said '' You people are just wasting our time, if it were the bad boys terrorizing the region you people won't stop them''. The Sars man got angry and asked the girl to come down from the vehicle, the girl came down and she was taken into their custody for further questioning about her comment. The officer asked the driver to carry the rest of the passenger and continue with the journey. Some passengers pleaded with the officer to let the girl go but they refused, they said the girl must show them evidence where she saw them not stopping bad boys. They accused the girl of working with bad boys. The girl was detained while we continued with our journey.
The girl wouldn't have found herself in that situation if she had kept quiet without saying a word.
we should learn how to control our tongue at all time. Don't say unguided words when in public place.
Don't say anything when your opinion is not sought after in a public place because you don't know who is who.
I feel like sharing this so that we can avoid some unnecessary problems in our lives.
Knowing full well that the officer has the right to stop and search every vehicle they come across. That is their duty, and they are implementing i. The girl was totally wrong for saying such because of a simple search. But let's come back to the other side of the matter. It seems we don't have the right anymore to speak to the police. But they said they are our best friend. We are expected to express our emotions towards them, but it is different in our country. I don't like comparing our country with other country but am really fed up with a lot of things going on.

I remembered sharing my experiences of how they stole our generator at home and the thief was caught. When the Police came, we told them that we don't want to escalate the matter that the boy should just pay the money for the Generator because we have bought another one and he can go They insisted that they will take the boy to the station so that he can learn some lesson for some time. I never knew their intention was to find a way to get money. On reaching there they said we need to sign, and signing is 1k, fuel fee and all the rest. We spent almost 10k before leaving the station, now who is the main thief?

We Nigerians carry freedom of speech for head and the interesting thing be say we dey abuse am. This na one common sickness majority of us dey face for Nigeria. We no know how to talk, when to talk and the right time to talk some things. Apart from the girl for this case, many of us  too wey dey talk say wetin this girl talk no good still dey guilty of this  very offence Of putting mouth for wetin fit cause us wahala.

Plenty bad things dey happen for this our country,  we no know who be who again.  Small talk wey you talk now fit cause one big kasala, this one na the main reason why we suppose dey think first of the possible implications of wetin we wan talk before we voice am out.

She was reckless with her tongue, no matter the fact that, we are as country are experiencing some form of lawlessness, we should try and respect those of them that are policing us, it's not easy to put your life on the line for the safety of others, if she's is charged to court, she can either go to jail or pay a fine for misguided statement against constituted authorities.

To learn how to talk na one thing wey we no suppose to joke with, because this same tongue fit commit you and still put you for problem if you no control your self, sometimes people go say we get freedom of speech, yes we get freedom of speech but that one no mean say your freedom of speech na to take talk wattin you no get evidence for, Because that one fit put you go big problem. Normally we dey very guilty of saying our police dem nor dey do their work properly, but to go tell police man for em duty post wey beta sun dey mama em head say em dey allow bad boy pass, that na very big courage wey that girl get, but las las we know say na money go end that matter nothing else. But apart from this situation small talk wey you fit talk fit make your boss fire you for work, or make lecturer give you CO, for you to know how the power of the tongue dey, even the bible emphasize on the power of your tongue.
So to sabi talk matters a lot but this our new generation children dem nor dey sabi talk and e dey pain me, dem dey feel like say na everything be money.

However, learning how to control our tongue is an important thing people should understand because 1, I believe that there is power in the tongue and we shouldn't use our tongue to say things the wrong way. 2, our tongue is not meant to abuse those that are above us or below us but to respect them. In the story that the op said, the girl way to blamed because she want the one the police officer were talking to at first, but she just wan show her self and others way they inside the vehicle say she Sabi talk or say she no get respect, although, watin dey girl talk nah one of the things way some of this our Nigerian police them dey do but the thing we supposed to know be say at that time way we dey for there areas we no supposed to talk against them because them fit do the on do and if pipo ask them go put lies for the person head,,,,, even if say pipo they the place way the thing happened before any of them go try to rescue the victim,,, by then the person done recive enough beatings.

I don follow one police man wey I sabi talk about dis mattar before, and from d response wey him give me I felt bad. D man talk say guns wey most of those criminals dey use better pass their own, him say sometime if their gun don hot e go dey misbehave, and before dey commot for station, dem dey count bullet give them. All those criminals wey be say na new guns dem dey use with unlimited bullet, how u wan take fight people like that. D police man talk say if dem dey exchange bullet with d criminals, if d bullets wey dem give dem for station don finish, na die remain be that ooo.

Dis one na serious matter be dat oo, we go stop dey judge book by the cover now. Me never know say dem strict with police like dis when dey come to going out for duty to secure the people in the country. If na wetin really dey happen be dis, den where d insecurity wey we say we dey fight for dey now. When d people wey go help us fight too dey fear make dem no come kpai dem, our own lives go be like joke for their sides be dat now, dem fit do anything dem like for town since dem know say the people wey go stop dem no dey fully equipped like dem to fight dem. But dis matter really surprise me still o, you dey sure say na so dis matter still be till now and dem neva rectify am by now. For God’s sake, we dey 21st century, wetin dey sup with our country na.

In a society where there is law and order and citizens rights respected, even though what she said was bad and demoralizing to our security forces, she was not supposed to be arrested and detained rather, there should be a way to make her substantiate her claims. Two wrongs can never male a right.

Naso, two wrongs no fit make any right but e be like say na d condition wey dos officers dey dat night na him make dem react like dat to her. E for better as dem interrogate her come show her small pepper make dem allow her follow d rest passengers go, but as dem no do like dat, e mean say dem really mean d girl and dem go deal with her very well be that. But my fear with all dis road side security personnel’s na impersonation. I just pray say she no fall into the wrong hands as dem leave am come dey go their thing. Country hard, everybody dey vex base on say dem dey face one or two daily, but dat one no mean say make we dey run our mouths anyhow.

This is nothing but lawlessness, there should be freedom of speech and they can also be challenged by citizens for noth doing their job as suppose. Some of the citizens have experience where some police do have pos machine with them Incase they catch any yahoo boy, they can get their own share from them.
As for the girl, she is rude and she has pass wrong judgement without knowing why they stopped them. The girl ought to know that there is a high level of insecurity in Nigeria and it is a wise thing for security to be on task. Some weeks ago , I open a thread in respect to security and I will say big thanks to police and vigilante effort to combat the kidnappers and drive them away from our territory, thanks to God who granted them this power and grace

The tongue is one of the smallest part of the body yet so powerful. The earlier people understand the power of the tongue, the better. No wonder even God admonished us to be "fast to hear but slow to speak" which means we should check the consequences of our spoken words before letting them out.

Basically what the girl said concerning police force in nigeria is official act to police people, because sometimes I do think if police collaborate with criminal in some certain act
We sabi how police dey run their thing for dis country, but e no come mean say make u dey talk anyhow as u dey check point, if you go talk something like that u suppose done commot for check point. If you dey even travel self, e better make u just keep quiet for car, just dey mind ur business, you know suppose dey talk anyhow for inside car, u no sabi d kin people wey dey inside d car, dey get some sensitive things wey u no suppose dey talk inside. Anything wey u no say fit cause problem, avoid to  dey talk am inside car. Even politics mattar, e better if you dey journey make u no dey talk about am, even if another person carry d mattar come, just dey low key dey observe no put mouth.

Police will relaxed and wasted some time and by then the criminals has already operated before you will see appearance of police,
I don follow one police man wey I sabi talk about dis mattar before, and from d response wey him give me I felt bad. Wetin she talk no make sense. We know say Nigerian police dey jonse and how dem dey run when the main casala set but for her to openly say that kind thing to the hearing of the police men dey disrespectful. Every harsh treatment wey dem give her, she deserve am and I want believe say after that experience, she no go cap carelessly again anytime wey she see them. Even for our day to day lives, e get sometimes wey an issue go want come up and na something wey no suppose escalate, but because the person no sabi yan or control himself, naso him go use wrong choice of words fuel the whole situation. Our words fit put us for trouble, and at all times make we dey choose wetin we dey yan.

Some people mouth no dey ever stay one place, anything wey dey see dey most talk am, even if e no concern them, if they say mind your business body go dey pepper dem to talk anything they see. If no be say we no dey respect forces for naija we dey take everything as cruise say them no care about the youth safety. They deserve their respect as Nigerian forces, but as things they happen to Nigeria youths that is why we are taking their job for granted. As you speaked she got herself into another trouble, if she remain silent at that moment nothing would have happened to her, she can't complete her journey with you guys that day. No be say na she be the only passenger in that motor but she see say she sabi talk pass all una.

That is why in some places if they see say person remain quiet, they will thinking that you too dey fear, but all is for the peace, for this country if you do over sabi e no dey ever favor at all, if it does not concern you remain calm, na when you chook mouth for person matter, you go cause trouble to yourself.

Anything wey me I dey talk, I make sure say I talk am for the right place and the right time, wetin the girl talk na truth, police men for naija now don lazy finish. Sometimes sef na empty threat them dey do. I fit remember when I dey travel, police men stop the bus wey I enter to check people logage and them charge the bus driver money, but if na thief or harm robbers police men see that night them for no fit do anything rather na them go run. For naija, work wey road safety officer suppose do na wetin police man dey do.

But why I dey blame the girl she no suppose talk am for there, just imagine me telling a police man that they're thiefs I dey try tell them make them thief my money na, and I sure say as that girl talk that thing they mind don happy because money go finally drop and them go charge the girl.

The statement she made was very bad and the police officers have every right to punish her for that statement she made , it is an insult saying that to the face of the uniform men. Their maybe some police officers who are not doing their job well bit this doesn’t mean police officers needs to be disrespected, their are still police officers who are really working hard in fighting every criminal activity.

We really need to be careful the way we speak when we are outside because their some can of speech that can lead one to serious problem that will really be so bad to experience.
Come to think of it, in what sections of the Nigeria constitution did it state that citizens are not allowed the freedom of speech, I see no crime in what she said, people can say things out of frustration. And the situation of the country doesn’t make it any easier. it normal to get that impulse of wanting to react, not everyone has that self resilient mindset , I want to ask, if the lady in the context was an important person or a person with influence, will the officers have the effrontery to make a noise ? No !!! They saw a chance to oppress the young lady who is just  pouring out her own frustration in a way she can. To me it is abuse of power by the officers on the young lady, she committed no crime for her to be detained more less do the officers have anything on her.
Officers who are not doing their job properly, should be stand corrected cause no one is above correction, our country made those in uniform bigger than the law and we all know how excessive and intoxicating power can be. Don’t quote me wrong, it is important to know when and how to talk when you’re relating to people. Wrong Manner of communication can lead you into trouble. But still never cease your voice when you need to to be heard.

These particular issue of talking has landed people into problem. That is why it is advised to exercise self restrain in public places and where ever you are. Most times when in public places more especially commercial vehicle, do not answer important calls unless it is and emergency situation. You do not know who is sitting next to you waiting for information to tap from your conversations. Sensitive discussion ought to be done in confined environment for privacy and avoidance of information leakage. Most times people complain of attack or possibly robbery but they forget to remember that they had a conversation at a particular place they were not supposed to and unfortunately some criminal element around them must had heard them and trailed them to their destination without them knowing and  launch an attack on them. All these are the reasons why people are advised to limit their choice of communication in public so as to be on the safe side.

Crazy incidents happened on a daily basis in our fatherland. We should depend on GOD for protection at every point of our lives because dangers seems to be the orders of the day. One of major causes of us facing daily crucial scenarios are our inability to sealed our tongue, it's definitely not in every case we ought to speak out because certain situations does require absolute silence, though one might be consider an unwise individual but vividly it's the right thing to do especially when we come in contacts with these aggressive men in uniforms. Concerning the situation on ground, the girl made an unpleasant insulting statement which instantly was reciprocated by the men in uniform, she's described as the escape-goat and this will cause her some fees inother to bail out from the station were they would take her.

This should sound like a warning and a lesson to many people, there are some statements you shouldn't make when you are in a vehicle or a public place in other to avoid the embarrassment or danger that may come as a result of your statement, engaging in a discussion in a vehicle to me is not a good thing because you don't know who is close to you, so if we often do this we should stop it because of the looming danger it may portray.

The girl's statement was uncalled for, some speech is better made in secrete, even though Nigerian police engage in such activity as she alleged must she say it to their face, does she have concrete evidence to back up her claim, the answer is no, I think she has learned in a hard way which was not supposed to be so, I pray that this case shouldn't escalate to something else.

Tongue have lead many people to a prison if you don't know bro, this your story is not something that will be a surprise to me, I have seeing a place where people have a misunderstanding and one of them make a comment that the opponent will die very soon and about some days the person died, the person that made the comment just make the statement because they have a misunderstanding but his tongue has lead him to a problem that he will never forget in his life, sometimes we should know the kind of words that come from our mouth, because some words are words that God Don already plan am to happen.

And about this your story, the girl deserve to be punish for her words because this is a disrespectful word to a Nigeria police, how can she said if it is some bad boy's now the police will not stop them? That words is a insult for me, although sometimes our Nigeria police dey mess up sometimes by standing on the road and be collecting bribing but at this point the police did not ask them for any bride, they are just checking up and that is their duty and I don't think anything is wrong with that.
