Bad luck can happen but I seriously doubt the true odds are anything close to what you're paying out.
I'll live without my 5 cents and that isn't the point, but I feel kind of robbed given that I just trusted the payouts were vaguely in line with the true odds. This site seems like a gimmick, just designed to get people to make a really lopsided bet. I should have suspected this since you only allow betting on one side of the line.
Payouts are exactly as stated in the odds, its gambling. Results are published from government weather stations, we dont make up the weather....
It doesn't make you a liar or anything, you can put whatever odds you want, and people can choose to play or not play. I'm just letting people know that the odds here are way out of line with the true likeliness and they can get a much fairer bet on other gambling sites.
I'd suggest opening up betting to both sides of the bet. Could you imagine a sportsbook where you could bet on one team but not the other? The only reason you're setting it up that way is because you know very few people know the true odds of changes in weather (and you're taking advantage of that with a sucker price), but that many people could do the math and see how it adds up if you put a line on both sides of it.
We would be interested to hear your thoughts on how to price the odds on changing weather conditions, please provide some more information.
