The most reliable and convincing is xapo and Coinbase. but some of the exchange is very difficult to use for some countries.
I suggest you use a local exchange that is in your country. it will be easier because you can directly send it to your BANK account.
Never used Xapo, just their wallet for faucets.  Coinbase works just fine if you don't mind giving your personal details, same with Circle, which is also very good.  Then there's always wesellcrypto.com--great if you want to buy quickly with PayPal, but the fees are high.  I've used all of those.

As others have said, Localbitcoins with a reputable trader. If you buy through coinbase, don't use their wallet if you plan on using your bitcoin for gambling or receiving bitcoin from a gambling site account. It is against their ToS apparently.

It will depend on which country you are living in which exchange is user friendly for you, as I am buying it from localbitcoins since I am into bitcoin, and all the traders are trusted people and there is no chance of getting scammed.
I guess, no matter which country you are from, you always will be able to buy bitcoins from localbitcoins.com.
It is one of the most trusted site I have come across. Most of the exchanges also offer bids for buying bitcoins. You can choose which best suits for you.

Yeah LBC is one the best site that we have to buy and sell our bitcoins and I am using the same as there are many traders whom I know personally so its become more easy to buy bitcoins.

OP there are so many possibilities to buy Bitcoin today.
You can use one of the several exchanges out there.
The big ones are BitFinex, Bitstamp, Kraken, BTC-e, OkCoin, Huobi, BTCC, Poloniex (Alt->BTC).
Other services are Coinbase and Circle.
Or you use localbitcoins or Mycelium'ss market place to meet people for a real life trade.
Xapo is not bad but there are better options out there.

Always Localbitcoins is my choice because bitcoin very easier than other online bitcoin trading sites. There we can buy through with or else you can buy bitcoins with trader through direct offline also. i have tried with kraken also but nothing is better like localbitcoins...

My experience with buying bitcoin (BTC) started August the 7th. I was wandering if there's a way of securely purchasing bitcoins, I started searching on the net and I found that you can buy bitcoin directly from the Xapo website. At first I was a little bit skeptical but I tried to buy 10 USD anyway. I sent the wire transfer and I waited... Surprisingly yesterday ( 3 days after the wire transfer) I received 0.016-ish BTC on my wallet! So if you are wanting to buy some bitcoins I recommend purchasing them on Xapo.
Thanks.
There are a ton of other online wallets and exchanges that allow for you to buy Bitcoin with relative safety as well, Xapo just has a minor edge over the rest because of the debit card they offer and their other services. Xapo isn't bad, but this is kind of written like an advertisement to be honest.

Talking about me i am not allowed to send bank wire as a personal payment from my country due to foreign currency law. So how you can buy bitcoin depends upon the country and amount you are looking to buy. For me deal with local person is easier but buying large amount is hard for me.

I think every country has their own bitcoin exchange. in my country there is an exchange site. so I'm easier to exchange fiat to bitcoin or vice versa

if you use google and search for how to buy bitcoin you can find all your options.
but generally it depends on how you like to do it. you can use services like coinbase and circle mostly if you are living in US to buy bitcoin easier. or you can even use any of the exchanges like kraken, bitstamp, ... to buy bitcoin with credit card use cex.io
and also to buy from individuals go to localbitcoins.com and pay with cash, paypal.....

the easiest place to buy your bitcoins is to transfer your fiat in an online exchange and then buy bitcoins, i think right now that would be a really smart thing to do
