WEX - are fraudsters, don't trust them

I don`t think anyone`s trusting them anymore

Yes, I see people waiting a lot of days but nothing good comes to them. People no longer trust this exchange, they just want to get their money back.

Exactly, I was hopeful and very very patient. But no, I just want my money back now

Attention: all assets of WEX.NZ at Binance are blocked forever

the identified accounts are frozen, please report to law enforcement and have a case number.  We will work with LE.  This is part of centralization we hate too, dealing with other exchange's mess (we don't even know the details).  But we will do what we can.

that's not necessarily true. this story was published 3 hours ago. according to binance, the account freeze is only temporary. without official communication from law enforcement agencies, nothing may come of it:

Quote
Li later clarified that the freeze is only temporary, saying, "we're only able to freeze accounts for a short time; some sort of letter from law enforcement is required for a longer-term freeze."

no matter what, i'd say chances of recovery are slim. Undecided

Sadly in 2018 it's just another proof of how easy it is to scam people. When I signed up at Wex.nz before there were signs already that this platform was not very professional. First, the support is very slow, or even does not bother to reply to the customers. I remember trying to upload my ID + proof of residence it was refused, and I never got reply about the reason why it was rejected (I should be glad about it today).
Second, their rates were "too good to be true".

that's why you should always research an exchange (or any service) before trusting them with your money. that's usually how people get scammed: by not researching the businesses they deal with and not asking the hard questions.

the fact that wex is so closely associated with btc-e (seized by the USA government) should have been a red flag. their partially incomprehensible announcements and the inability of support to speak english should be another. and whenever an "arbitrage" opportunity exists, you have to stop and ask---why didn't traders take advantage of the opportunity and return prices to normal? anytime a sustained price disparity exists, there is a deeper problem going on and you need to assess the heightened risk.

Other typical example of similar platform is Exmo, be very careful with them. They have one of the worst customer service I have seen. Once I logged in and waited to get into the live chat assistance, it took 2 hours to reach them, and all I got was a template answer + their rates are way too high to be legit.

Forget about your money, and take this as a lesson learned the hard way.

interestingly, exmo (by way of domain registration) was proven to be connected to btc-e. btc-e is connected to wex. by way of the transitive property, exmo is also connected to wex. be very careful dealing with these guys.......

This thread would be hilarious if it was not about people losing their money. And then the account wex.nz replying "please do not panic". I know it's bad but it made me chuckle.
