Like the name implies, they are token or coins in smaller fractions, unlike bounties that means larger in quantities, and you can get them through free lance job,or by sign ups ..

Airdrop is when a blockchain project distributes free tokens or coins to the crypto community. With doing an airdrop the project creates awareness about their ICO or token. It brings people to the project that otherwise would not have owned or heard about it

Airdrops are pre promotion in crypto because before to enter in project they allocate some token in airdrops participation. But it is just a promotion of new platform and it will reach entire world, surely this will success in future. So everything is preplan reward of tokens and many peoples are sign up this Airdrops so they know how it will reach in crypto market.

I see a lot of ICO's doing AirDrops, or they say AirDrops are finished etc. Can someone give me an exact description and an example of what an AirDrop is exactly? What is the purpose of it during an ICO? Thanks!
An airdrop is a free coins/ token given by an ICO to their holders. It is some kind of a token rewards or incentives to their loyal customers. Giving airdrops is their marketing strategy to attract more investors and to increase many people to continue patronizing their platform.

airdrop is a free coin that is distributed free of charge without having to make any effort in order to promote an ICO. but the coin you get is a coin that has no coin price, in contrast to bounty that is more promising.

when bitcoin was just starting its way in 2009-2012, it developed, there was a popularity of such a thing as faucet. They are still there, but not the best. There's just clicking on the button, gave 50 bitcoin. the meaning of this was that people began to use and create a community around cryptocurrency. And what start to use, gives excellent advertising. There is the same situation, the distribution costs peanuts, but gives a good result. Not using this method of promotion, they lose advertising, and using-do not lose anything. Did I understand correctly? it's not about those airdrop that give coins for signing up, it's about those that give AAA coins if you have a BBB coin

They give community some of their coins. People talk about them in topics. The more people knowing, the more they are popular. So they could sell their coin in Trading Exchanges.

I understand that you are not wondering about the airdrop feature on the ios operating system provided by the apple maker.  Wink
- Airdrop is a familiar concept with the crypto community. in a way similar to free delivery, giveway or gift card. But in crypto it is the tokens developed by the project. Airdrop is often used in advertising campaigns, introducing new ICO / tokens to attract more users to build communities, partnering with partners, exploring the market, demanding to encourage users to beta. .

As I'm a Mac user, so yes I'm more familiar with the term "airdrop" on IOS. As far as cryptoverse is concern, you get free token from a project you just have to provide them with your ERC-20 wallet and expect the drop after their announcement. I don't know though how airdrop tokens are profitable, there are members who claimed that they made significant amounts back then, but beginning of 2018 there are a lot of scam airdrops and usually the tokens doesn't have value And I even read that they are enforcing KYC now. LOL.

It literally means what it is. They "airdrop" their coins/tokens to people who sort of sign up. Most of the time you just need to prove ownership of a bitcoin wallet and they give you a percentage depending on how much BTC you hold on that specific wallet. To prove ownership, you send them a specific amount of BTC or you can sign a message using your wallet[1] instead if you don't want to spend your BTC

I heard it was "FREE" tokens that are given out?
Yeah, that's exactly what airdrop is "free" tokens! the site here(https://airdropalert.com) keeps track of available airdrops.
Many the cash of the distribution distribution encryption for the community of the community to increase the display of the project, the resource to provide the information and the trade size. The following allocated this usually called a air drops

i beleive you ever noticed an unexpected increase in your cryptocurrency wallet and didn’t know where the free coins came from. That, my friend, is most likely the result of an airdrop. In marketing, awareness is often one of the initial steps in a buyer’s journey. As with the grocery store for example, psychology plays a crucial role in the aspects of an airdrop, as a buyer is much more likely to purchase a product they are familiar with than a product they know nothing about. Therefore, those in charge of distributing the tokens see an airdrop as a key opportunity to give you a taste of their tokens. Compared to alternate forms of costly advertising (such as Facebook and Youtube Ads), airdrops are often a more effective approach to showcasing coins.

Those are giveaway of the tokens that ICO gives in exchange of your basic information in the form of KYC at lower degree. Whenever the ICO's coin become successful, the tokens will be distributed after the ICO in the wallet you have given. It is quite worth your time if you know what you're really doing and you fully understood the project you joined at while also doing a background check on the team of the project.

You don't really have to exert too much effort with airdrops since as most of the people said, these are free tokens for promotional purposes for upcoming coins. Some successful alts have had airdrops in the past and people do get free money.
I would also suggest the same. Airdrops don’t hold much value in the present era of digital market because it is already full of hundreds of coins and it is difficult for new airdrops to get a lot of customers. Most of the investors go for bitcoin and some potential altcoins because the aim of investment is to gain profit, not to collect a large number of some weak coin at cheap rates.

First of all airdrop is a good way for ICO to promote its social media resources and as result shows to investors that their product is interesting for many people.
For example, if someone wants to invest in one of the two ICOs named "X" and "Y" and he joins to their twitter where 100 followers (for X) and 5000 (for Y), from my point of view he will chose, all else being equal, ICO named "Y".
That why, bounty hunters are able to receive "free" coin.

As far as my understanding is correct airdrop is a way to advertise a company by the help of the community involve in their platform, Instead for them to pay advertising company they will just ask the community to advertise them and in exchange there is a corresponding stake depending on the tier which the bounty hunter was fit in.

They mostly want to promote their social networks, some projects want to test their decentralized platforms, so they give out their coins to as many people as possible.
