The answer is none, because all coins are going up and down but if you are asking what's the best altcoin to hold for long term is eth and ltc for me. Because this coins are always in top and many countries are using it as daily transaction. You can also check the news regarding to the coins that you want to buy.
the most stable in usd is tether of course. the most stable in satoshis is bitcoin of course. The most stable/rising already released alt is YOVI but you cant trade it and you can only sell tiny amounts after long periods of time. ETH LTC and other coins that folks call stable have suffered horrendous satoshi collapses over the last six months. In my opinion those coins are not stable at all.

Depends on what do you mean by stable. If its about price, no coin is stable as it can move by 100% in a day. If it is about the popularity, then ETH, LTC, DASH, XRP are relatively stable and they are almost always at the top 10.
The so-called stability is the value, then I recommend you buy some ETH,NEO,LTC, XRP, these are the COINS that have been proved to be valuable.

No question bout that mate, Eth already prove that he can work alongside with bitcoin, we seen huge jumped from bitcoin value but after that weand as you can see it slowly increasing its price.

Ethereum and litecoin are the most stable coins at the coinmarketcap currently both coin have active devs who aren't stopping developing and the upgrading the coin and also they have large communities but the eth has larger and also, did you know the litecoin is the most stable coin why? Because for years litecoin price hasn't moved in 3 dollar line until this year when the implemented segwit in litecoin so, if you are choosing for stability litecoin amd eth is here for you.

Ethereum, Neo, Litecoin, Wings are the most stable coins. Even with a strong fall, they do not fall below their usual cost. Frankly speaking, all the coins from the top 20 deserve attention. Such a large capitalization is stability.
Ethereum and litecoin are definitely strong and stable coins, both have active development teams always trying to improve. I would also add monero as a stable altcoin. I have never heard of Wings, but will take a look at it.
Bancor is relatively stable versus ETH price because it uses its own Bancor protocol to smooth down volatility.

The most stable are coins from the top 20 but the coins that go on have a much greater growth potential but at the same time they are more risky

Yep, There are more than 1000 altcoins in the market.So a stable coin find is very difficult matter.yet, I think some are good and stable like Ethereum, Waves, Ripple, NEO, Wing.I think it's good for trade. 
Syscoin is one of the most stable coin in last month, i followed one month this coin sys has very big increase and very low decreasing, but generally its very stable. Also Komodo and ARK.
To the most stable coins, in my opinion, belongs Ripple, Waves, Ethereum, Litecoin. This currencies or have stable price, or slowly are increasing their value

There aren't really any, you could go for usdt which in theory should be the most stable of them all. FUN is fairly stable also and is a good promising project, they launch in Q1 2018 so maybe the price will go up then.
