I am very interested in ethereum, because i think ethereum is an altcoin that has great potential in the future, therefore I use ethereum to be invested and traded, because that way i can earn profit and side income.
For now most of my funds are invested in bitcoin and ethereum, because i'm sure someday I'll get the result of investing in both.

Last year I was using ETH mainly to invest in ICOs as it was more widely accepted, it was cheaper and ensured a faster transaction (I was also more hesitant to spend my BTC). Now I am planning on investing a bit more in ETH to keep as part of my long term portfolio.
The only reason i use eth is to either participate in crowdsale or for gas to transfer my tokens to someone or exchange

Ethereum is a great coin to have and I too have Ethereum and use it mostly for a long term hodl. I also, use it for buying other altcoins.
When bitcoin network fees are quite high, this is my alternative of sending to someone that I owe money. But now I'm using ETH just like bitcoin and that is an investment. I don't want to spend too much with it today because I was still in lose with ETH. Bought it when it was around $800 - $1,000 so I'm not doing something that I'll regret so I'm calmly waiting for the moment where I can get rid of my ETH though I'm planning to hold it until the price is attractive to sell.
I really like this coin and I use it for trading, investing and making daily payments. This is a very convenient and fast coin. I am sure that this coin will rise in price.

To me personally, Ethereum is a good long term investment. I am currently holding ETH as a long term asset. I also use Ethereum for buying of good ICOs, and Trading. Prefer it for trading because its transfer fee is usually cheaper than that of bitcoin in almost every platform.
Ether can be used for participating in ICOs. Once you have ether, you can buy ERC-20 based ICOs with ease.
Besides, having ether can enable you to trade on exchanges that allows trading in ether/altcoins pair.
You can also buy and Hold Ether for the future, so that if it rises you can then sell the profits on top and exchange it into Fiat currency.
